In Enlisted, currently we have 6 campaigns that don’t have anything special interms of matchmaking, meaning everybody can fight each other regardless of loadout. This means that you can find the StG 44 spammer, the player that just unlocked the M2 Carbine, the Gewehr 43 user that has some Kar98ks in, the P2W whale that runs around with Thompson 100s, the campaign-new player that used a gold order to buy an MKB 42(W) (and/or the supressed weapons set or the drum mag semi-auto rifles) for faster progression and fun, and the f2p newbie that hasn’t got any semi-auto rifles yet, ALL in a single match.

It might be unfair at times, but that variety, especially when it’s equal on both sides, is extremely fun! Grabbing a basic squad ans giving it 1 good battlepass weapon or the new weapon you just unlocked and cant buy 6 of then yet (out of cash/silver orders) and NOT having to play against full lobbies filled with that high tier weapon spam as the one you just got should not drastically change your opponents.
Bussing around the outskints of the map in a puma to flank a Jumbo sherman (that finally pushed out of his spawn) and then wrecking 3 other tanks before men with pitchforks drive you off (run away from explosive packs) if fun! Demolishing an elite assaulter (4x StG 44 or Fedorov + 3 FG 42 or AVT-40) squad with a semi-auto sniper rifle and then stealing their guns is fun! Mowing down hordes untill someone gets enough brains to shoot at me from long range or flank me with an smg is fun! Trying to counter an MG squad with bolt-action rifles & grenades is fun!
What’s more fun? Mixing your squads so you can bring all the weapon typrs in to battle if you want! It’s cheaper too! You don’t need to replace Evert MP 40 with an StG 44 to be effective! or buy & upgrade 3 Sniper M1 Garands! You can just bring one and still have fun without any matchmaking screwing you over!

The PROBLEM is, that all of that are GONE with the merge & with how the tier + battle reting system is gonna work and are gonna be replaced with MIRROR matches based if highest tier/br of selected weapons. So say bye-bye to facing pretty much anything exept the equvelants of the weapon of your choice. You just unlocked the M2 Carbine and are too broke to buy 10 of them?? SCREW YOU!! Now you are gonna be fighting hordes of StG 44s & FG 42s while you have 2 M2 Carbines & 4 M1 garands in your engineer squad, with the rest being a basic M3 Greasegun assaulter squad, and a basic rifle squad (and a basic vehicle)… Does that player DESERVE to be thrusted into top tier??? Really??? That massively screws over players that wanna grind and players that want variety in their battles. It should NOT be mandatory to transition entirely out of bolt-action into semi-auto rifles to be effective in the semi-auto ribles ‘br’. Why cant you be in between (in the br range… for example)? Why the amount of high tier weapons you carry doesnt matter???

For that variety to exist without screwing over new players [you can also keep somewhat of a historical map rotation (full auto rifles =/= late war)] you need to have a system that allows Min-Maxing your squads / presets instead of the endless mirror matches that the “highest tier weapon = that tier match”. Sonething that gives you the ability to say ““i want to play the StG 44 but dont want to be fighting against 3x full AVS 36s & Fedorov squads, let’s see how much i can ‘sabotage’ my other squads to lower my br. Let;s also bring the puma instead of the panther so the chances i see a IS-2 fall below double digits (if someone is min-maxing the IS-2 w. 3 mostly Mosin (bolt-action) squads). Nice! now i face mostly M1 Garands, SVT-40s and other ‘min-maxers’ while i try to flank Sherman Jumbos that hopefully are not CAMPING SPAWN…”” I still want top tier battles? I can bring my AVT-40 & Fedorov & the IS-2 (engineer & assaulter) and i will now almost EXCLUSIVELY fight Stg 44s, FG 42s and Tiger IIs while the people that Dont fill 3+ elite squads and still hevily use SVT-40s, Gewehr 43s, MP 40s (heck even bolt-action rifles) will fight at a slightly lower BR depending of how much of each weapon ther carry. You want to fight Gewehr 43 egupped squads with a few AVT-40? Just get a 60-40 split between Mosin rifles & AVT 40s and a early T-34…

Something like how the br is calculated in Air AB in war thunder, or an average of the br of every squad (the squads br is the average of the soldiers & vehicles) with a slight weight towards the higher tier squad. That, with some elements of historical map rotation (with respect to your loadout) will keep the games feel close to current, without the balancing issues of 3x StG 44 squads VS 2x Mosin-Nagant & 1x SVT 40 (just one…) that we have now.

Mostly ranting about Enlisted’s current big issues:…
My main problems with Enlisted now are not the overall balance of weapons vs weapons… but the issues/handicaps that restrict counterplay and make some vehicles & weapons OP and others borderline TRASH. Here some of them:

a) The map borders. WHY a Tiger II or a Jumbo sherman are able to CAMP SPAWN making it impossible to flank them (& ger close generally) giving them the ability to perma lock-down an area and the only way to kill them is CAS because you just DIE to the gray “forbidden” (for you team…) area trying to get in position to kill them… It makes light tanks unable to use their speed to flank around the sides of the map unless the enemy pushes out of their spawn onto “the common battlefield” while infantry struggle even if the enemy tank is at the map/spawn border… There should NOT be a “common battlefield” & areas of the map locked to one faction… You already have Spawn protection for the normal spawn points! Just increase the timer and let people falnk and set ambushes instead of letting enemy tanks blast you to pieces from the gray & “forbidden” for YOU area of the map…

b) The single vehicle slot for non premium users. This restriction severely restricts (who knew!) the choices of light & medium tanks/heavy tanks/CAS planes/fighter planes_ to just one, severely liniting counterplay. For example WHERE are the fighter planes??? Their main job is to counter CAS but i never see them even when enemy CAS is pummeling our team with bomb after bomb. Why??? Because most players dont choose the spesialist vehicles when they only pick one…
Thankfully, this seems to be changed in the upcoming merge (2 vehicle slots!).

c) The congestion around caps in all single point gamemodes making them perfect targets for CAS heavy tanks. Have you seen the massive difference in effectivness (= score) that CAS & tank players have in Invasion vs Conquest (the 3 cap mode)? In single cap modes heavy tanks & CAS -if left unchallenged- can bring havoc to it’s enemies, with massive kill streaks wiping whole squads off the map… while in multiple-cap gamemodes they sometines struggle to even find alot of enemy soldiers in one spot. We need more incentives to go somewere that’s not the center of the map (playable area of said map…) like secondary objectives (any ideas?), ambushing enemies and the ability to flank campers (look above ^a)).
