Not sure what you’re going on about but I’m guessing either suicide planes or mobile tank barricades.
Purpose of any non-light tank
Personally I wouldn’t mind if sandbags could withstand one more hit from a tank.
Identified as caused by game rules.
Since the current default game mode have such an arcade game rule, you should accept that players who accept this mode choose their arcade gameplay in it. Such as suicide missiles, etc.
I may be as demanding as you for a more reasonable gaming experience, but I’ve given up on arcade mode after long-time without seeing changes.
Those of us who don’t like run-and-gun games should unite and demand our own mode.
Otherwise you will forever be in endless debate and trouble with those who claim themselves represent the majority run-and-gun players here, and the number of potential gamers will continue to be lost.

It’s not so much of a matter of not holding up to the HE shell BLAST, but rather that fortifications shatter from every little bit of fragmentation, which is leading them to be so underwhelming, and is the primary thing that needs to change.
Don’t misunderstand me, DIRECT HITS should break fortifications, but FRAGMENTATION should not.
As far as “magically spawn bunkers out of thin air”. Defenders are having to pull back to unidentified locations (they only know the locations when it changes, so there is not time to set up in advance generally, unless you take a guess and happen to be right).
The locations you have to defend don’t come with much in the way of pre-existing fortifications.
So giving engineers the opportunity to actually set up in advance should be added. It will lead to far less roflstomps by attackers.

Here are the major ones. If this doesn’t suffice, I encourage you to go to my profile and scroll through my topics.
The options for engineer constructions seem oddly limited. Especially given that some of the things already exist within the map but are just poorly placed.
I suggest making a button when selecting which fortification to build that let’s you build an alternate version of that structure. These Alternate structures are as follows:
Sandbag wall alternate is a windowed sandbag. Exactly like the windowed sandbags that come built into the map already.
Stationary AA guns alternate would be a whe…
Even if you aren’t going to let us PICK where we wish to spawn for the first objective, the defenders need to spawn in more positions to the flanks of the objective rather than just ON the objective.
Its far too easy to kill the entire team in one go.
Especially on maps like D-Day, where there are tons of bunkers, MGs set up, etc, yet the whole force spawns in one single bunker?
SUGGESTION:
Add more default spawn points for defenders that are more on flank positions rather than directly on t…
Fortifications are far too easy to break as it is currently, every little explosion breaks them. Which I’ve made suggestions for to fix that issue, but as it currently stands, but people always fight against it. So this suggestion is to at least address the issue of REPLACING structures when they get broken, without going through absolute hell to do so.
When a friendly fortification is destroyed by enemies, (such as sandbags and barbwire) having the engineer hammer in your hand will show a YELL…
It has been requested a few times recently, as well as quite a lot in the past, to buff the resistance and durability of *Engineer’s Defensive structures (Barbwire, Sandbag walls, and Czech Hedgehogs).
One of the most frequent counterarguments is that especially in the case of barbwire, that it is “too spammable”.
Rather than implementing bits and pieces of this suggestion, for it to actually be balanced and work the whole thing needs to be implemented.
PLEASE NOTE:
This suggestion includes …

How do you use Engineer squads? (Setting up large defenses or just ammo/rallies)

Attempting to fortify an area quickly can be a pain in the ass, even with a full 6 man engineer squad.
Making squad orders to make the AI finish constructing structures can be very inconsistent.
Additionally, trying to place additional structures within close proximity to others can be problematic as it usually tries to force you to finish the other one first before placing the next one.
Suggestion:
Allow an “Alternate” Squad order mode when there are more than 1 engineer.

I know that I’ve brought it up before, but this latest game (featured in the above screenshot) vividly shows my point. There needs to be some kind of period at the start of the game for defenders to set up SOMETHING for a defense.
SUGGESTIONS:
(At least one if not more of these)
Give a bare minimum of 30-60 sec at the start of the game for defenders to set up.
Allow defenders to choose where they wish to spawn at the start of the game.
Disable explosive and fire damage for t…
With squads getting unique structures that fit with their unique theme, and mortar squads often being deemed “less effective than artillery squads”, I would like to suggest adding in MORTAR PIT constructions.
Essentially, it is a construction that makes use of majority of the squad, rather than just the player.
It consists of 2 parts:
The mortar pit, which is surrounded with sandbags, and fits 2 mortarmen.
The spotter tower, which is a medium height wooden tower, similar to the towers se…
For some reason, the hierarchy of commands to AI soldiers makes them destroy friendly fortifications, rather than make use of them.
I’ve especially been noticing this with the influx of new players, having figured out who was breaking my structures down mid-game and asking them afterwards. ALL the reactions are the same set of responses:
“I thought I was ordering my soldiers to refill their ammo.”-- Instead they were breaking down friendly ammo boxes.
“I thought ordering them to a sandbag…
I know its been brought up before, but I’d like to mention it fresh as it is making a massive impact on gameplay, not being able to stack sandbags.
(I know its not effecting EVERYONE as the number of people that actually fortify is considerably lower than the other players, but it IS making a difference.)
I understand that there was an exploit that was done with it, which is likely why you removed it (hopefully only temporarily), but I would hope that it wasn’t a terribly difficult fix and you…

This regards both the existing usage of these items as well as if they were changed in said ways.

The recent update that removed the ability to stack sandbags is really frustrating. I can understand limiting them to 2 tall, but this is ridiculous.
There are tall sandbag walls around as part of the terrain, and many of them have windows. Let us build our own so we can actually have some remotely decent survivability with fortifications.
Please just answer these questions on your reply so the topic doesn’t get blown way off track:
How often do you see AP mines utilized on offense?
How often do you see AT mines utilized on offense?
How often do you see TNT mines utilized on offense?

What about an infantry only mode? Trying to balance vehicles is one thing, but couldn’t we have an infantry only mode?

I don’t think we need an explicit “hardcore” mode because this game is already a good balance (in my opinion) of arcade and hardcore. In fact they could introduce more “hardcore” features into the game such as slowing down soldiers or whatever and it would still fit perfectly fine in the current system and core experience
I’ve never felt that this game is too run and gun, I play relatively slow paced and I have fun regardless and don’t have any problems.
And “run and gun” is subjective.
That may be true but not everyone wants to play with zerg rush players and play matches which end in under 10 minutes.

Honestly, it might make for an interesting mode, especially if artillery is disabled as well.
Definitely not the standard, but I could maybe get behind an event or special mode like this.
Might even be a good way to show some of the issues (lack of hp of sandbag walls for example) that engineers face, even against just infantry.

@Greyparrots @61839981
My only question is:
Why? Why is this so important for you?
I mean what will be enhanced from making these changes?
Cause I’d say me and Reaper care about the longevity of this game and fast-paced and zerg rushing gameplay It’s not exactly healthy for the game.

if a fraction of your proposals would go through I would stop playing this game immediately.
I’m not saying this to start a confrontation. It’s my honest opinion.
Do you think it’s fun to play a match which ends in under 10 minutes when you’re trying to level up or do events or with an XP booster.

My posts are not that relevant I would say Reapers is more important than I.

i do. i do alot of “speedrun” matches. i enjoy them alot !
but you didnt answer:
why ?
on a game that the rules are set for fast pace, why fast pace wouldnt be healthy ?
fast spawn times and highly availability of spawns
W - Die - spawn
squad of AI “always” there to be a second life.
etc etc
why fast pacing gameplay, would hurt the game?
(i m just asking)

Reaper is a very rational and wise member of this community.
BUT, my opinion regarding most of his suggestions is the same as it is for yours.
Those fast-paced matches that you enjoy so much sure they’re good for a few matches but after a while it’s gonna get Boring for you but when you have a good match where objectives are not instantly cab and defenders are doing their work and the match is going on those matches are a lot more enjoyable.
