Body Armour for All!

Firstly I’d like to credit user @nothing328 for inspiring me to look further into the prospect of more body armour with their post. I offer this as an expansion to the suggestion of more body armour. I understand that the idea of such can be perceived as problematic to some people; whether it’s the protection it provides is unfair, or that it should be solely cosmetic, or that it needs a downside etc. I’m not suggesting what should or shouldn’t be done to armour, but merely presenting options available as food for thought, even if it’s just for the sense of cosmetics at the end of the day.

Any further suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you all for your time.

Edit: After seeing how a lot of people feel and understanding armour in game more. I’m of the opinion perhaps its best if all armour is cosmetic. Or instead something rare and one-off with an event squad. For the issue of soviets I suppose a refund of outfit tickets and taking away armour as something near universal might be best. Or they could use armour for a new class and call them Shocktroopers or something.

Japan

Japan surprisingly has a few options at their disposal in terms of armour.

  • Type II & Type III body armour (The type III featured leg protection too.)

  • Steel bibs (akin to the Soviets, sometimes featuring a cloth skin over them)

The Japanese are surprisingly spoiled for choice.

USA/Britain

For the USA there’s a few choices, most of them being flak jackets for bomber crews but there is a sensible option of the M12 Vest, with a T65 Apron with/or T16E4 Crotch armour. As for the British I’d suggest the MRC Body Armour.

Germany/Italy

Unfortunately Germany and Italy seemed to (in my very brief research) not invest in the production or experimentation of body armour. Though in light of such I suggest a WW1 alternative for them both. For Germany, the ‘Sappenpanzer’ Body Armour and for Italy, the ‘Farina’ armour.

we dont need more body armor. we need to remove current functionality from soviet body armor.

cosmetics should never be way to impact core gameplay.

Body armor for non - body armor didn’t work in ww2

Not to a terribly effective degree no. Though it did do something, as for how effective that’s for those who used it and lived to decide. Perhaps useless extra weight or a thin veil that was enough to ricochet or absorb what would be a lethal or wounding injury.

This is at least 5th suggestion topic about “body armor for all”. It could be considered spam at this point (just kidding obv).

I really like how the reactions to this has changed since then. All thanks to only ±4 persons. I recommend to read those old suggestion topics about this subject.

Well 5 is no where near as many as better German mg post

So be it. Remove the defensive aspect and make it cosmetic, it doesn’t hurt to allow cosmetic options.

Though keep in mind I’m speaking in broad strokes. I’d want it primarily as a cosmetic option, I’ll leave the discussion of whether it should be functional or not to the masses.

Thats also important- if there is one cosmetic option that actually gives gameplay benefits, then there is no point in choosing other cosmetics.

And that’s a very fair point, I can’t disagree with you there.

So camo is always better option, as you won’t be as easily noticed as with big green plate all over your torso.

Got it.

You can’t be serious.

If being seen is your biggest problem id suggest you to not move at all.
Movement usually reveals locations rather than poor camo.
Another free tip is to move only in prone, this way least as possible of you is visible all times.
Np, hopefully these free tips solves your problem of being seen.

Also kill all of your AI soldiers because they are not really good at being bushwookies.

Why not? Germans have distinct advantage in any dark environments due to most of the standard uniform colours.

Soviets have bright blue hats and yellow mg squad jackets. :grinning:

And soviets have better snowcamo, so technically in everymap that has snow they are invisible hurrdurrdurr.

Think majority of moscow maps has snow ?

90% time snow camo increases visibility but sure lets make them equally shit and tune up the contrast in german uniforms to match soviets.

After all, cosmetics shouldn’t affect core gameplay derp derp derp.

Yeah IK its that german grey that blends very well to snow.

For all I care both teams can have bright red and blue colors.
