Will the rate of fire of the MG42 and MG45 be increased?

This is a topic that has been discussed multiple times. On the historical rate of fire of the German MG42 Evidence has been provided to validate the veracity of obtaining a historical cadence. There’s also the issue of whether there are light, medium, and heavy bolts, but in the end This has been shown to be due to post-war experimentation (MG-3) and not the MG42 The rate of fire of the MG 42 was adjusted by rotating a clutch mounted at the muzzle of the gun, which increased or decreased the amount of escaping gas.

Will the developers release it?
They should do so now that we’ve had an increase in the fire rate of the following weapons

•The AT-44’s rate of fire has been increased to 690.
•The Increase to 1100-1200 of the Japanese Twin-Barreled Anti-Aircraft MG

Given these examples, it is also fair that the MG42 receives this treatment

Last year, two publications were made on this subject in detail, using German manuals that confirm their claim of 25 shots per second, which is 1500 per minute. One post was on this English forum where its author is @GetOut0fMyWay and others on the Russian forum where its author is @_DELAVR

These two publications discuss in detail the historical and correct cadence of the MG42 1500 and 1800 (MG42V/45)

That said, I hope the Developers make this necessary and fair change, having the evidence in hand, so that the change from a historical Cadence can proceed.

I think that’s very fair, the MG42 could use some more rate of fire or power of any kind to differentiate it from the MG34 (75), right now its virtually the same gun with 25 rounds less, which hardly warrants BRIV.

I will refrain from voting because personally, I like the MG42’s as they are. The only MG42 I use is the Early MG42 Premium squad which has a rate of fire of 1,060 and is fast and controllable.

Actually, this early MG42 Early wouldn’t have any changes since it has a historical cadence of 1060.

this would be a nerf to the normal mg42 and theres already equivalents of this in premiums or event squads

It wouldn’t be a nerf because the MG45 has outstanding performance.

I said mg42. mg45 has a much quicker reload and moving dispersion. Which means the mag and fire rate combo is less punishing.

Actually, the MG42 is the machine gun with the slowest reload time among the German machine guns of the BR III-V

yes… thats essentially what i said man. pls read before typing

Sorry, because I use a translator, it didn’t translate correctly into my language.

oh sorry for being harsh. But yeah, with the mg42 slow reload and having the typical bad moving accuracy of other machine guns it would definitely suffer. The mg42-100 would be buffed from this however.

TBF the mg42 is already not the meta machine gun for br 4 anyways. So thinking about it more I think I will abstain from voting instead of voting no

likewise with the type 100 mg… but nobody wanted to say it then.

the mg45 already has high enough ROF as it is.

Look at the Fedorov 25 rifle, its ROF is so obnoxiously high it makes it impossible to use on full auto

Why we need 2 MG81?

just give me the god damn MG 08/15, I’d like to spice up my machine gunners with something that has slower ROF

Well I heard people here do prefer BR4 MG42 over the MG34 with big drum, tho I guess this is really a call for preference - MG34 Patronentrommel reloads quite fast, so I prefer that one.

All that being said, especially BR5 MG42 plays really nice as long as you dont have to reload, the increased RPM and shooting with longer bursts simply increases your chances to hit the target.

Personally I would suspect that MG42 is already in the perfect sweetspot of not being overkill - still I want to see its RPM getting increased non the less even if it would be a nerf.

1200 RPM was the standard infantry configuration for most MG42, and as such the rapid brrrrt that makes a MG42 so iconic needs to be corrected for HA purposes.

Also should consider early war MG34 with a rate of fire selector - could be set to around 600 rpm

mg 13 drum performs well in BRV even… i prefer it over anything but the 42 100 and even then engi + 4 mgs that have a good weapon you can’t beat

So you want to make a perfectly fine weapon unbalanced cuz it’s historically possible but uncommon in its configuration. That’s an awful idea

Nothing will accidentally crack, Germany already has the best machine guns.

There’s another side to the coin: over-inflating the rate of fire can negatively impact a weapon, making it less likely to hit its target.

If you want that, please let’s weaken the machine guns. Then we’ll just have to laugh.
