Increase it even more, then.
About two thirds of the playerbase, on the forum which doesn’t represent everyone, want harsher recoil. The Fedorov 25 might be too harsh, although that is mainly down to the rate of fire, but setting it at 95 ish for select fires could be a good testing point.
I do remember that the AKT had similar recoil too and required trigger discipline.
Maybe go back to monkey.
I wonder why moving FG42 and such to the MG gunners class was never considered, not that I myself think this needs to happen, but the only time we had discussions like those was back in the wastedwoodsman time line.
Looking at the stats in the spreadsheet it’s just the visual recoil that’s the main difference and it is a big one. The AKT has 1.3 compared to other SFs with 0.3
The Experimental Ultralight Machine gun aka “Type Hei Automatic Rifle”, was trialed as an LMG that’s why it has a mono pod under the buttstock.
Maybe it should be in the machinegun line.
BFV had FG-42 as their “MG” lineup, which also included BAR, MG-42, Lewis and everything else.
Worked fine, wasn’t a problem.
In Enlisted having FG-42 also wouldn’t cause the AVT-40 with super rare 20-mag to exist, also wouldn’t cause cancelled T-20 to exist, which wouldn’t cause cancelled Autohei to exist.
If enlisted didn’t have prototypes, it could be MG but its not the case
But I hope that in the future we get FG 42 II with a 10-round magazine in BR2 classified as MG
PREACH! The only reason we have to deal.with all this fantasy BS is because they refused to make the FG an lmg
The FG-42 should’ve been a TT Paratrooper squad, I know they came later but it’d be a good option, despite the fact it never actually was used in jumps.
the use case is identical
Power output is different though but it’s still the same use case
This makes me believe that you want it changed solely because it would make the SF more inconvenient to use
Awful awful proposition either way
Thats topic of downtiers rather than seal clubbing but ‘big word go’ I guess
The use case isn’t identical. An SMG is an Assaulter weapon and thus limited in the people that can equip it, a SF Rifle isn’t.
Smg is a close to mid range weapon with suppressive capabilities that requires taking a specific class that’s only positive is the smg itself. Select fires are so strong instead of suppressing they outright just kill the enemy regardless of the range. They’re also equipable essentially by default instead of requiring a specific class to use them. Smgs have situations where they’re worse and can’t be equipped to all your soldiers while select fires are the best in the game for every situation (besides rd44 and stinger for choke points).
Bro at this point youre just taking. They are not the same use case. And if the devs wanted them to be the same use case then they should all go on the assaulter class.
Time to stir the pot!
The reason why a lot of sweats enjoy using Select-Fires, is they are satisfying to use, and represent a certain combat pace unattainable by lower BRs, or even weapons of the same BR. Making select-fires less fun to use makes them…less fun to use. It alienates the type of player that wants to combine fast-paced combat with squad management. In a vacuum, it can be a very fun gameplay loop.
The best solution to make everyone happy really comes in two main steps: First is to buff ARs, SMGs, and MGs to approach and/or reach Select-Fire strength, depending on combat distance and circumstance. ARs and SMGs should be more controllable, and be able to more effectively squad-wipe, but also approach the kill speeds of Select-Fires. I’ve advocated for ARs to universally have a damage increase to 13.6-14.1 so they have the potential to one-tap as well at medium range, while having better controlability and magazine capacity to give them the edge at that range. With high cyclic rates and large drum magazines, BR 5 SMGs should be able to two-tap at short-to-medium range, combining with the rate of fire to approach the kill speeds of Select-Fires, but also have continued squad wiping capacity with the large magazines. BR 5 MGs should deal 15.3 damage (except the RD-44) and have slightly buffed movement dispersion penalties, so they have some viability but disadvantages in offensive plays but still dominate at defense.
The second step: buff BR 4. I would say Germany with it’s event/premium MG squads represents what BR 4 strength should be, though perhaps a bit weaker. Stronger semi-autos at BR 4 would help with that, maybe even provide XP/silver bonuses so players who want a challenge have an incentive to populate the most difficult battle rating.
And if people think the power increase gets too steep from these changes, changing the scaling to include BR 6 (current BR 5), with the new BR 5 being the weaker BR 5 and strong BR 4 equipment, I think that’s fair too.
Short answer: nerfing select-fire recoil increases the skill gap of the weapons, making the situation worse. Nerfing select-fires any other way also makes them less consistent and fun to use. shortening the spectrum of combat paces that Enlisted’s battle rating system provides alienates players that like the quickest pace. and finally, buffing the other BR 5 weapons to equal combat pace makes everything balanced, viable, reduces spam, and also improves immersion.
Am I gonna end up on a YT vid?
Respect for providing an actual alternative solution instead of just declaring that my suggestion would just make things worse somehow.
However I disagree that making eveything else in BRV OP would have a positive effect on the adjecent BRIV line ups and weapons. Moreover, rebalancing everything else would just take up more time and recources than simply nerfing SF Rifles.
The reason why sweats enjoy using them is cuz they’re the meta. By severely increasing recoil they’re actually still technically as strong but now a healthy dose of skill is required. Kinda like how semi autos are way better than bolt actions but require good recoil control to realize the increased rate of fire.
Also this 100%. People dgaf about the fast pacedwhatever. Its the meta and people want to win. So they will use whatever is most OP.
If people cared about fast paced gameplay then Gray zone camping wouldnt be a thing
Ppl has tendency to pick the best available thing and currently it is the SF rifles.
Back in days when AA guns were broken as fk and could shoot thru every house in moscow campaign with HE shells, ppl used them.
After nerf ? Not so much.
PPSh41 box ? After the fix, yes it still comes up relatively often but definitely not often as it used to be.
They are / were broken and thats it.
Quite alot easier to fix the thing that is broken, rather than boost everything else to meet the levels of broken things.
Dunno, fixing the dispersion of ppsh41 box did kinda fix the situation.
Sure we can alternatively grant SF rifles ~1.2? dispersion and keep the recoil same, now you just are guaranteed to miss shots by artificial “balancing” from these 2 options id rather get higher recoil that I can atleast do something about.
