Select Fire Rifles Are OP And, Break The Game And Immersion

Hello Squad Leaders,

Today I want to adress an issue that has been plagueing the game for a while. Select Fire Rifles(SF Rifles) are way too OP, thus making Assault Rifles(ARs) redundant and ruining immersion.

Even if you, like I, have accepted that Enlisted is simply a WW2 themed sandbox, rather than a simulator, the SF Rifles at the end of most Research Trees are simply too OP and immersion-breaking. The problem is twofold:

1. Recoil

The Recoil on some of the end game SF Rifles is basically non existant especially for relatively light weapons firing full power cartridges. It also has the added problem of making ARs redundant.

My proposed solution for this is to give them all a recoil statistics similar to the AVS-36.

The following is a series of clips for visual comparison between all end game Select Fire Rifles and the AVS-36

In each of these clips I did not attempt to control the recoil at all.

2. Fire Mode

It’s not lost on me that not so long ago, the community asked for the FG 42 to begin in the Auto setting. In my opinion, this was the wrong solution…

Theres a few ways that Defaulting to Semi will help the game:

Making Assaulters relevant again

Even though we all would probably prefer to use the Auto setting most of the time; I think that for the health of the game, and in order to give ARs some relevancy again, the SF Rifles should start in Semi-Auto. As it stands SF rifles completely overshadow ARs and since ARs are class locked and SF Rifles aren’t there is literally no reason to run any other type of squad than Rifle Squads at top tier.

Realism

The SF Rifles starting in Semi would have the added benefit of introducing a tiny bit of realism back into the game. After all, these rifles were basically uncontrollable in Full Auto. The Type Hei Auto was specifically rejected after trials for being too uncontrolable. Aditionally the soldiers that participated in the war where products of the Great Depression and they weren’t really physically endowed to handle automatic fire from full power rifle cartridge. And on top of all that even today with modern more controllable rifles, militaries all over the world almost exclusively train soldiers to use Semi-Auto even in close quarters.

Making BRIV and Semi Autos more viable.

It would aliviate the power inbalance in matchmaking between BRIV and V, as a BRIV player you will find less instances of getting sprayed down or squad wipped by players and AI equipped with these weapons. You will find yourself, as a BRIV player, more capable of putting up a fight against the veteran players.

AI bots are plagueing the game far more then any weapon. They are causing me to fail in my new years goal of cleaning up my foul mouth.

User name checks out. Not biased at all

yup i will never be biased

Give all SF the same “recoil” stats as the fedorov rifle (it wont fix anything)

im all in for increasing the recoil atleast 2x, making them SF rifles harder to control with high dmg.

However the gun being default on semi was absolutely retarded, it doesnt stop you from using full auto. Only thing it does its annoying inconvenience.

Giving them AVS-36 recoil changes nothing because people confuse recoil and recoil/s

And the change to switch them to start in semi is just reverting a quality of life change, again changes nothing but makes the game worse

Honestly baffled so many people voted that it should start in semi. It solves nothing and is opposite of quality of life

Only ‘muh immersion’ folk could come up with a direct downgrade to the game lol

Exactly. Kinda feels like certain ppl wants to punish SF to full extend. Which really isnt beneficial to anyone. I use the SF rifles just like everyone else and I do agree they are broken as fk due to being ridiculously easy to control for dmg they deal.

BUT If ppl wants SF rifles to be used on semi, then there should be benefit of doing so.
Less recoil on semi setting ? Anything that makes it worth it to use it.

Finally someone says it too. Select fires break 2 br. Br 4 and 5. No one plays br 4 cuz of jets and select fires. Every other piece of gear is a pretty reasonable jump between the 2 br.

And in br 5 itself. Select fires break a rule of balance within the game. There’s different soldier types with certain ones assaulters and machine gunners having better guns in return for no abilities or weaker squad count. But br 5 the best guns are equippable by specialists and riflemen.

Tho I will say. I kinda want to experiment with removing the vertical recoil perk as it’s problematic how recoil is essentially a non factor in balance. But that’s not what this post is about.

If it has enough recoil to be hard to control in full auto than yeah it should start in semi auto as that would be the better firing mode for most ranges.

Thats why I put that down as a voting option.

Personally I think the right move is nerf the reserve ammo and make them start in semi auto. Currently there’s no reason to use them in semi auto when you can just run ammo pouches on every guy.

But at least for me when I use a radio operator on BR5 Japan (where you only get 1 extra reserve mag) I tend to switch it to semi auto to preserve ammo. Same thing with the Cei Rigotti, I use it on semi auto because it uses the ammo more sparingly and prolongs its usage.

I think every SF should be like the Type Hei Auto, one mag in reserve and 3 mags in reserve with a large ammo pouch.

Thats like the worst you can do lol it wont change how strong they are it just will make then not last as long
and semi auto from the start is just stupid

give every SF rifle the recoil of the AKT-40 because I want to watch the world burn

“Nerfing the recoil is stupid, all it would do is make them harder to use”. How is nerfing the reserve ammo a bad idea? You wanna full auto then have fun burning through a higher percentage of your total ammo every second.

I like where your heads at

Why is that a good idea? Their ammo is already low and we’re given a much more straightforward solution with nerfed recoil
