Your analogy is spot on.
Actually, the signs were already there when they made a separate driver class just for armored cars.
What’s the point of creating an entire unique class for a single driver in a squad, just for operating armored vehicles?
Why couldn’t they just reuse the tank driver system from other vehicles?
It’s just a waste and a pointless addition.
I really believe DF has run out of new ideas at this point.
After paratroopers were added, the overall WWII class framework was basically complete.
Originally, we could freely switch between regular infantry and grenadiers just by changing backpacks and guns.
But now DF insists on overcomplicating everything with unnecessary splits.
It’s messy and boring.
And then they present this as a major update, like it’s some big deal—it just feels lazy.
It’s even introduced a whole bunch of new problems.
At least they don’t die that easily, and their bombs and rockets can take out way more enemies than they cost.
Of course, slamming planes straight into the ground to switch squads quickly isn’t right either—it’s a pretty extreme tactic.
I first saw it done on the Tusov Bridge during the Berlin offensive.
To take out the Tiger II holding the bridgehead fast, my friend would just dive in an Il-2 with a 250kg bomb, finish it off, then immediately switch to infantry to push the attack.
Yeah, for real.
I’ve been dreaming for years that motorcycle riders could also drive jeeps with a heavy machine gun in the back or something.
The motorcycle class has been neglected for a full two years, and they only just suddenly dug it up to fill out the tech tree.
Right now, DF just feels like they’re trying to be clever for no reason.
If they just read the suggestions on the forums, they’d actually learn something useful.
Honestly, I don’t understand why people are so angry about this new class.
it’s just one soldier, not five or more, Just find someone alone without a squad and shoot him or shoot anyone who appears suspicious.
Let me explain it simply: it’s reusing a guerrilla fighter’s abilities at a lower ticket cost, but worse. As I said above, it’s like deciding to create a “new” class that’s similar to another with several extra steps, but worse than the original…
I only remember that historically, the Germans had a small unit made up entirely of captured Soviet armor.
But basically, none of them survived.
Not even the Geneva Convention could protect them.
only those who know how to infiltrate will use this squad,
Probably in the weeks and months following the major update this squad will be used much less because people will shoot anyone who is alone or suspicious.
The gaming environment is already bad enough as it is. Many people complain that their teammates don’t even bother to capture or defend the control points. If everyone starts playing this broken class, the control points will be even emptier. Let it be.
I just realized that this class will absolutely break lonefighters lobbies. Teamkill is enabled so you can’t just randomly shoot at friendlies + mixed armies and no bot squads will make saboteurs almost untraceable.
Ah yes. Shooting every ally is very realistic and immersive. This is not TF2, Enlisted has some historical background. It’s a WW2 shooter ffs and not a milsim like HLL or Squad. This class might have worked in those games, but not here.
You’re right. What you suggested are exactly special units.
But they’re hard to classify properly, since our existing unit roster is already pretty comprehensive.
Take the German Gebirgsjäger for example.
Glider paratroopers feel more like something that would be added as a premium or event unit, not part of the regular tech tree.
It’s a bit of a shame.
But compared to the nonsense Anton’s been putting out lately,
your ideas — except for the first grenadier suggestion — are actually really creative and valuable.
P.S. Back in the day, grenadiers totally dominated.
With rifle grenades and impact grenades, you could bully just about any enemy soldier, no matter their level, just with explosives.
I have a real story:
Back before rifle grenades and impact grenades got nerfed,
we didn’t even use primary weapons. Just a squad of four, loaded with explosives.
We actually beat four famous Soviet players that way.
So I think grenadiers are still a topic worth debating.
Anton’s intention here was to enrich the gameplay experience and cater to different player preferences.
But the problem is, there are only so many players. If everyone picks niche, individualistic roles, they’ll just end up ranting on the forums after losing five or six games in a row.
Just imagine: two players flying planes, two in tanks, two guerrillas, two special operatives, two snipers, and two regular sniper teams.
Then who’s going to capture the points, push forward, and fight on the front line
Prototype weapons, experimental weapons, prototype tanks and aircraft, fictional weapons, Post-war tank and jet, MY GOD, ENLISTED IT’S VERY IMMERSIVE AND REALISTIC
Just identify who is alone or suspicious and shoot him.
It makes no sense to shoot your allies who are with your squads
