MP-40/38 rebalancing

Actually if you gave me a choice to use the M1928a1 and or the M1A1 I’m taking the 28a1 because the stats aren’t garbage the M1A1 is not that bad overall there’s WORSE examples in the US options

Lanchester is the closest for being the most well rounded smg low recoil better accuracy and better dispersion short fall is 690 rpm like the M1A1 overall Germany and US smg low br options aren’t that great compared to like Japan and Russia which I play alot

Wait, what about the Thompson M1921 with the 20-round magazine for Japan—the one issued during the event? I’ve got about four of them—why hasn’t anyone written about this? Just look at the fire rate: you’d have to agree that it’s easily twice as good as any other weapon in BR2.

You seem to be forgetting the Japanese M1921 Thompson (the event weapon with a 20-round magazine) take a look at its stats—it’s a BR II weapon.

1040 RPM on a 20 round mag honestly isn’t that great. It’s a good weapon but compared to something like the PPS-43 or the M1A1 it’s not twice as good.

You sent me a screenshot, but you promised to send the link—so where is it? Do I have to wait long?

Fine, even if it is one and a half times larger—the question remains: why was Japan given the best version of the Thompson—the M1921—as an event reward?

It’s not the best Thompson. All higher BR versions are better and the M1A1 and M1928 USMC and 7.63 Thompson at BR2 are just as good because they’re all more versatile than the M1921 20. The M1921 20 is purely close range with it’s very high rate of fire and low capacity and that’s not the only thing that matters.

Yeah, it is rather excessive at 1,040 RPM, and the Allies have a couple BR2 BP or event Thompson’s that are 810, along with the UD M42 which is 900. However, I think this thread seems to be more tech tree based. The Allies tech tree BR2 Thompson maxed is 690.

I was talking about this gun not the BR 3 M1928A1 thompson. This one is incredibly good due to the obvious firepower it has yet stable recoil since only 10 horizontal + 70% recoil control modifier AND only 1.4 secs reload speed. Even the dispersion is pretty good, 0.58 is actually pretty great value for SMG as you already know.

That one is also incredibly powerful in the right hands but it’s rare and it has much higher horizontal recoil than M1928 thompson on USA and 1.8 secs reload speed which is less than ideal. Altho it can be used with Assaulter 4 with stacked up reload speed so that downside can be mitigated.

Yes, that’s right—the stats for the MP-40/38 submachine guns currently in Enlisted are still based on the old “Historical Campaign” mode. Consequently, they should receive a reasonable buff to help them compete against the Soviet PPSh and the American/British Thompson submachine guns.

Go back to my post and look at citations

Why do I need an operating manual? An operating manual for the German MP-40 submachine gun, issued by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence in 1949

This is why

Anyway I’m done with this discussion because it’s quite clear your lack of will to do anything is very apparent

You didn’t mention wear and tear I found information suggesting it could fire due to wear.
The document specifies a theoretical rate of fire of 450–550 rounds per minute for a brand-new weapon with a stiff spring. During service, the MP 40’s telescopic recoil spring assembly would wear out, lose tension, and weaken. As spring resistance decreased, the bolt would cycle faster—moving rearward and returning more rapidly—which automatically raised the rate of fire of captured or well-used weapons to the 600–670 rounds-per-minute range.

Regarding the MP-40 wear and tear that is the only way to describe it.

do you have a source to back up your claims?
I have been researching MP40 for years and can say with confidence that quality control was not as strong with the MP40 as with the MP38 (which has always around 500 rpm fire rate). MP40 was made by three main producers, but even those had numerous small contractors and production lasted years with all three main factories making small changes to the guns in order to improve their quality or price.
The aberration of the fire rate to both ends (450 and 550 from 500) was necessary side effect for quantity maximization. Now, as I said before, almost all guns come with the highest possible fire rate.
Even guns like M1 Thompson that usually had around 600 rpm fire rate, except for one faulty batch with 800 rpm. M1 Thompson in game has 800 rpm by default and 920 max upgraded, because as usual, it has the highest possible fire rate.

This is the best free source on the MP40, I invite you to read and research, to see what Im talking about yourself:

There’s no problem with MP40’s stats. MP40 is prime example of how an average BR2 smg should look like.

The problem was created by this community. Consistently lowering so many weapons to BR2. To the point many BR2 weapons became completely obsolete.
Not to mention BR2 is now the most overbloated BR in the game. And by a lot.

There’s really no reason why any of 650+ rof SMGs should be in BR2.

But whatever, I couldn’t care less anymore. It’s just funny. All I will say is that never ending power creep is definitely not a solution. :man_shrugging:
People were pushing for MP40 to become obsolete. And now they want to buff it. Lol.

Yeah, I tend to forget about that aswell.

Its a no brainer to look at MP40 as the BR2 SMG benchmark.

Swings and roundabouts, they get some poor gear and they get some good stuff to make up for it.
