MP-40/38 rebalancing

The MP-40 is the most iconic gun in enlisted and ww2 being used far after ww2 like Norway who had a massive stockpile of them, and some of it aspects makes it difficult to pick up and use especially for newer players who want to use THE ww2 gun.

My goals in the suggestion:

Spoiler

is to first: make the changes on some form of documentation for the MP-40 mainly rate of fire changes, second: also to make each MP-40 variant feel unique from each other because if all the guns feel the same, what’s the point of it’s variants?
I hope I would achieve my goal with this suggestion and give each gun it’s has its own unique feel and niche for the game.

Note: VR/HR is vertical & horizontal recoil

MP-40 + MP-40/I [prem]
Original Changed
500rpm → 550 rpm (max 630rpm)
82 dis → 65 dis (max 55)
VR 30 → VR 26 (max 23)
HR 10 → HR 7 (max 6)
Dmg will be left unchanged

Reasoning:

Spoiler

the MP-40 was the more optimized gun for the factory production, which is why I gave it the highest rate of fire of all the MP-40’s, with a dispersion buff but not as good as its other counter parts with its higher rate of fire

MP-38
490rpm → 520rpm (max 600 rpm)
5.7 dmg → 6.0 dmg (max 7.2)
70 dis → 60 dis (max 51)
VR 31 → VR 28 (max 25)
HR 11 → HR 8 (max 7)

Reasoning:

Spoiler

the MP-38 was the the better quality version of the MP-40, with trends in German arms at the time it would have a noticeable rate of fire with it, and making the MP-40 description make more sense, but also due to its higher quality and rate of fire I gave it a higher dmg model to make up for some of it’s short comings.

MP-40 Suppressed [event]
570 rpm → 630 rpm
70 dis → 55 dis
27 VR → 20 VR
9 HR → 7 HR
Reasoning: the other suppressed guns are basically the same as their none suppressed counterparts but with lower recoiler and dmg.

This would really help the MP40 stay competitive

You know what would really help?

  • It killing/downing in two shots

  • all 700+ RPM SMGs getting banned to BR3

Soviet Body Armor and Paratrooper extra Vitality completely ruin MP40, together with powercreep of the past years made MP40 one of the worst guns in the game.

I haven’t used any MP40 since the campaign merge.

Might as well move it to BR1 at this point.

Of you want to increase its RPM to 650 - I would still never use it, and even if its damage was increased to at least 7.5 to secure a two hit down against higher HP targets, PPS43 and Mas 38 were still vastly supperior.

None of these smgs are 700 rpm? Also all smgs in the German and all other trees can down and or kill with 2 shots

Okay so point is for you
Smg that two shot down BAD but smg that two shot down I like and would keep same and instead of trying to improve the gun in some shape or way instead just move it down a br again with no thought because uhhhh uhmmm idk

Like the MP-38 I can I can be pushing it a bit too much but you whining essentially because something quite arbitrary like “I don’t like the gun” is frankly an immature stance to not engage with the suggestion

Why not change all of those things? Those don’t have to be mutually exclusive, I personally think powercreep should be reduced (PPS43 and to a lesser extent M1A1 and M38/42 are a bit ridiculous for br2), and the MP40 could still use a buff all at the same time.

Where did you get those figures for the MP-40’s rate of fire? The figure of 660 rounds per minute is a myth. Due to this error—stemming from inaccuracies in reference materials and the gaming industry—the MP-40’s rate of fire is often erroneously overstated.

He linked the sources, it comes from a book about the development of the MP38/40 and a 1949 Norweigan army manual for the MP40

The base rate of fire, 550 is taken from the upper end of what is stated in those sources, which give a range of 450-550 rpm. The rate of fire is upgraded to be 660, hence him saying:

I put my citation on the post

I think the answer lies in the fact that the MP-40’s rate of fire is overstated—a myth perpetuated for two main reasons: game balance and weapon progression mechanics.

So, where is the link to the site you trust so much?

Use reverse image searching or go on google and look up the titles

Why would a norwegian army manual from 1949 overstate that? Video games were not around in 1949.

Also, all SMGs get an increased rate of fire when upgraded, regardless of faction. Again, the rate of fire is 550, as is stated in linked sources, and 660 when upgraded, as all smgs get an increase. Holy reading comprehension.

In short, you are clearly misleading people by referring to an experimental prototype rather than the mass-produced MP-40. Regarding the performance characteristics of “short” springs: German late-war test reports (1944–1945) mention instances where the use of substandard, worn-out, or intentionally shortened recoil springs (without the pneumatic buffer) caused the MP-40’s rate of fire to spike, leading to rapid weapon failure.

This isn’t what he was talking about at all, lmao.

Pretty sure 550 base RoF would only give 630 for a maxed SMG in enilsted.
Same as Beretta 38-42, which replaced ‘so iconic MP 40’ in production irl even before WW2 in Europe ended.

Having similar to 38-42 stats (less recoil/dispersion for less mag size) would be good, seeing how gaijin fails to move Beretta from Tier 4 on Trash Tree for over a year.

MP 40/1 could get more buffs and moved to BR3 (totally didn’t got this squad recently)

MP 38 could go to BR1, maybe with some light nerf.

MP 40 silenced is a tricky beast, like most silenced guns. i’ll just say this - ‘high velocity’ and ‘silenced guns’ doesn’t work together, like at all.

So in short you’re to lazy your self to do the bare minimum?

I was talking about the prototype—the experimental version capable of firing at 660 rounds per minute—not the production MP-40, which had a rate of fire of 570 rounds per minute.

Nobody brought that up in the post

550 • .2 = 110 + 550 = 660
