At BR 4, there are three Thompsons available in the tech tree. Due to various existing issues, very few players choose to use the M1 Thompson. Its actual recoil is similar to the M21/28, but its dispersion is the highest, and its reload time is also longer than that of the M21/28. Its 30 round magazine also gives it less sustain than the M1928A1 (50). Its only advantage is its 920 RPM rate of fire, but the sights have issues , so its practical performance is still poor.
The M1 Thompson’s reload time should be adjusted down to under 2s, with the fast reload adjusted to 1.5s, its dispersion reduced to 0.6, and fix the sight issue. Even just one of these changes would make the M1 Thompson more practical and bring it up to par with other BR 4 SMGs.
This gun truly deserves a BR3 downgrade. Besides, its reload time is 0.7 seconds slower than the M1928 and M1921 purely due to its unique reload animation. When reloading with remaining rounds left, the player taps the magazine once, while empty reloads require two taps. This exclusive animation is unique to the M1 series, which accounts for that extra 0.7 seconds of reload delay. I find this design pointless. I suggest removing this redundant motion in the upcoming animation updates.
Your post is really good. It makes me want to post a suggestion to rebalance the Soviet paid Type 4 submachine gun squads. These two Chinese-origin submachine guns have reload speeds as slow as drum-magazine SMGs. The squads themselves are released, yet the overall treatment of them is really shoddy.
