The Cosmetic Filter and how it should work

Following up on this announcement (49 likes btw nice):

Here are the basic principles of how the Filter should work:

  1. Every vehicle by default should come with accurate, immersive, appropriate, historically accurate generic decals and turret numbers randomized for each vehicle in the match:

  1. These default skins should change their base color/paintjob according to the map they’re placed on

These must be the default skins that are shown to players who choose to enable the Filter, NOT markless Darkflow-style sand-yellow tanks in Moscow.


Additionally there should be optional skins/decals with pre-placed locations and sizes which would NOT be disabled by the filter.

Example:

Default T-34 for Moscow, Stalingrad and Rzhev maps

  1. EACH AND EVERY other decal, ‘decorator’ and such must be hidden by the Filter because Darkflow just takes those from War Thudner without any consideration of their WW2 use.

Examples:

A. “Gneisenau” decal is from the Cold War Leopard 1 tank

B. Ulan Ude bear is from early 2000s Russian Air Forces

C. Reindeer. Enough said.

D. Fortntine characters.

E. Volkssturm and Fur hats in non-suitable locations

F. Spikey Frankensherman

G. “Super authentic WW2” DEMON decal

All these should be hidden immediately upon activating the Filter.

How about a “show decals on other player vehicles” client side toggle like literally in every other game?

Absolutely Agree! very good ideas. To HELL with Fortnite skins and kids placement of decals and colors

I would be very happy with a checkbox that replaces paper gun models with their closest historical counterparts. It would also be great to be able to turn off the described elements individually. And ideally, to be able to customize the display of each questionable models and decals separately.

Even buying camouflage won’t help get rid of it.

You know what else I’m thinking? Maybe let players create custom skins that will remove questionable models and decals?

That’s not counting as an exploit, it’s an old “bug” (if you mean that you can oversize decals using planes), but we left that in the game intentionally. I mean we didn’t ask the devs for a fix on purpose. It’s a minor thing and fixing it wouldn’t change much, since the already existing decals wouldn’t be removed from the tanks.

Excuse me, but how do I understand the fix for the “Fox”? Does this refer to the cosmetic filter or is this another the fix for the “Fox”?

And when will devs let us turn off this disgrace?

Or at least change clothes. Which could have been done in the first days of this squad’s existence.

It suppose to be decal for allies, not ussr.

How so?

Decals on tanks are limited in size for a reason.

Meaning that was intended by the devs to not allow enormous decals.

From my point of view it’s a pretty major thing – seeing giant reindeer and Halloween demons on tanks ruins the immersion and aesthetics of the game.

Any news on the cosmetic filter and the ability to disable all this nonsense client side?

Such a large-scale feature will not be implemented. Enlisted is no longer a priority for Gaijin. (= practically zero development resources)
Just take a look at store. Enlisted is now even lower than Crossout.
