Remove weapon upgrades that increase the hit power of the bullet

There are a few things that am not necessarily a fan of in the weapon upgrade system in game, the most prominent reason for me being that it is possible to increase the damage of the bullet through weapons upgrades.

Honestly, this is a poor mechanic both from gameplay and realism perspectives. From the gameplay perspective, it increases an imbalance between two potential players more than is necessary, and gives players fairly large advantages over those who don’t have the last (and very hard to obtain) weapons upgrades. From a realistic perspective, it is fairly obvious. A weapon upgrade really is not going to significantly effect the muzzle energy of the bullet leaving the barrel, it’s not just going to magically do 15-20% more damage to someone.

The solution is to just remove this upgrade effect, in order to preserve both realistic weapon mechanics as well as balanced gameplay. The only squad who should get the ability to receive a higher damage as an upgrade in my opinion is the sniper squad, for their scoped rifles. This would be acceptable in my opinion because on the eastern front, both Germany and the Soviet Union issued explosive ammo to snipers in limited numbers, so it would at least have a basis in historical fact. The upgrade could then be renamed from “new barrel” to “explosive ammo” or something similar.

Problem is, that along with weapon damage upgrade, health perk would have to be removed as well (so not nerfed, but straight up removed without mercy). Because otherwise pretty much all (who I´m kidding, with exception of dragoon, mosin rifle and vz.24 its every single action bolt) weapons would be flat out useless against premium squads (not counting shotguns, grenades and other explosives or anti tank rifles… because human body shouldn´t require anti-tank rifle to kill) and eventually anything with health perks.
That would of course further promote P2W.
Otherwise I like the idea of getting rid of weapon damage upgrades.

I am also 100% OK with removing the extra health perk as well. In my opinion it has no place in a game like this, and also reduces both the realism and quality of gameplay/balance.

My words exactly.
I´m failing to find any kind of reasonable justification for that perks very existence.

That is not a problem though
That is actually preferred for the drastic majority of players
Just these two changes alone would drastically improve the skill required to play the game,

mostly remove the P2W aspects of the premium soldiers (health perk being the hardest to obtain yet most OP perk in the game),

make the game more active (+movement speed or -recoil are “active” perks that you must use, while +health is a passive perk that your enemy interact with, and on top of that, having less health makes you more likely to push harder / play more aggressively as you cannot take it easy and tank a shot)

and more consistent (no moments where your gun suddenly killing on an arm shot due to having more damage, or not killing on an upper torso shot due to health perk)

I agree, but I see it as a problem for our godly snail known for embracing and monetizing bs like that.
Also, imagine the mess if weapon damage upgrades will be gone completely but health perks will remain…For that reason, It must be pointed out that both health perk and damage upgrade must be removed at the same time.

Another reason why I used the word “problem” is the fact, that it has been a while since CBT was released and since then not a single developer post was dedicated to the issue, despite it having pretty much top priority over time. More than that, all that happened was, that this issue was even expanded by making upgrade system more draconic.

I just hope that devs remember what they said: image

Because if they don’t make a large-scale military simulator, as they said, I’ll be very sad… :frowning:

Personally I would like to see overhaul of current upgrade system. Now we have system “buy this or die” because things like +20% rof or -15% recoil are must have (unless you are a masochist).
I would like to have upgrade system that gives also some negatives. If I have more rof than I have more recoil, this is logical and balanced.
It would also allow players to customise their weapons more because it would allow to choose what they want from their weapons: accuracy, rof or sth else.
Of course the way you obtain upgrades must change. It will kill the game in it’s current state.

I would make it as a part of ammo management system I described here: Leftover ammunition
Giving explosive ammo as standard ammo type is overkill in my opinion.

There never were explosive bullets for the calibers used in rifles here. Only incendiary, but those were only used in planes so not really relevant here.

We should never get more damage as an upgrade, though, unless the gun can already oneshot on upper torso and the upgrade allows you to oneshot on lower torso too (so +5% damage on bolt actions only or something) while also having significant downsides, similar to the system in H&G

I’ve heard snipers did sometimes use HE ammo that was meant to be used by planes. I don’t know if that’s true but because @6610771 mentioned it I wrote what I think about it being in game.

As you wrote extra dmg wouldn’t change much so I would suggest longer effective range instead.

Sth simmilar but not copied 1:1.

That’s be incendiary. Unless it’s 20mm

No they genuinely had explosive rounds for snipers. Both the Soviets and the Germans. Hell Simo got hit by one in the face during the Winter War.

I’m looking for sources now, I’ll update with it if I find a genuine one that isn’t just some shitty blog or forum without proofs.

There we go.

Ah, those. I forgot about those

All weapons should have upgrade removed and deal their max damage as soon as unlocked

This way, bolt action rifles won’t need more than one shot to kill and SMG’s when having 6.8 (germans) and 6.6 (soviets) damage, don’t feel like nail guns

I don’t want explosive ammo in Enlisted

It was used too rarely to be the standard ammo in Enlisted

Also, as the video had shown german explosive ammo doesn’t really work in all occasions so I don’t think we should ever see this in Enlisted

why @ me twice while I never said I wanted them either xd

In my opinion it could be a special ammo. Mostly as some kind of an easter egg but may also have some benefits.

If you mean a rare Easter egg that gives you this ammo once in every 20 battles than yeah, why not

Because you were arguing with him and I wanted to answer to both of you my opinion

No, you can have for example 2 explosive bullets and you can’t resuply. It will insta kill whoever gets shot and may also wound another soldier if they were hugging. May be good at destroying / damaging equipment like MG nests.
It’s main purpose would be satisfaction of the shooter. Nothing groundbreaking.
