Remove vitality perk for soldiers

Kind of a sister post to another thread I have created, as I consider these two issues to be some of the worst things affecting the game currently.
Remove weapon upgrades that increase the hit power of the bullet - English speaking section / Suggestions - Enlisted

So, similarly to my post requesting the removal of damage enhancing weapon upgrades, I would really like to see the “vitality” perk to be removed from the game, as it is neither conducive to good gameplay, nor is it particularly realistic.

Having a perk that increases the health of a soldier is terrible for gameplay primarily because it creates a significant performance gap between players who have it equipped and those who do not. This gets even worse considering that it is a particularly difficult perk to obtain, meaning that new players are likely to get beaten by those who have the perk very easily. This is especially true since new players only have either the Mosin M1907 Carbine or G33/40 that will not do enough damage to kill with a body shot even at point blank against someone with vitality.
Add to this the fact that premium squads get this vitality perk in addition to four other perks which can be considered as being among the best in the game, and it is not difficult to see why this perk adds so much unbalance and inconsistency to the gameplay.

From a realistic perspective, this perk is also unacceptable. There really aren’t people who are particularly large or strong enough to be able to take shot from a full-powered rifle cartridge to the chest or abdomen and keep fighting (and without even flinching, in the case of the premium soldiers). Honestly, that’s all there is to it…

So what do you guys think? Is this a perk that should be removed from the game, or should it stay?

In my opinion perks should stay as something that can be really trained in real life. Soldier can learn how to control recoil better, train to run or crawl faster, have better stamina.
But some perks like vitality, more ammo or better medpacks just don’t fit to that scheme for me. I think that they should be removed and replaced with special equipmnet (just like TCat suggested many times before):
-armor to replace vitality perk - would protect the torso, but other areas like head or limbs would still be exposed. The downside would be its weight - soldier would be protected, but visibly slower.
-as for ammo perk devs should change its ammount to historical values (for example german soldiers recived two ammo pouches for Kar98k clips, each from them holding 30 rounds). If someone would still want more ammo there could be special backpacks, that could increase its ammount (for the cost of weight)
-better medpacks - we had advanced medpacks in previous tests, so I see no purpose in adding perk, that would somehow make soldier use normal medpack better than his colleagues.

I do not say that other perk don’t need some twitches and adjustments, those are only examples.

This is never ending debate that was here ever since start of CBT and as result we have countless of threads on this topic.
Community many times kind of agreed that this perk should be removed or severely nerfed and nothing is going to change about that over time simply because meta stays the same and weapon damage is still a thing.

The sooner it will be removed, the better so we can finaly move on.

And why not incorperate all perks into this system, where possible?

  • Increased sprint speed would be a result of simply taking the minimal equipment load, aka, weight should be a bigger factor in movement speed.
  • Similarly, you could have ammo pouches on the legs (pockets), which you could empty to crawl faster.
  • A helmet would have considerable weight and only help against SMG/pistol fire.
  • A soldier could obtain the “combat medic” role/perk when equipping nothing but medkits in its inventory, allowing it to heal other soldiers and himself at greater efficiency
  • Etc

Then, we could reintroduce perks as sidegrades:

  • The increased sprint speed gained from not taking a lot of gear could be replaced by increased stamina or increased stamina regeneration
  • The increased crawl speed could be replaced by climbing speed or jump height
  • The combat medic efficiency could be replaced by increased healing speed
  • Etc

I think that is the problem of adjusting weight and inventory mechanics, but speed perks aren’t problematic and could stay. Like I said, faster run or stamina is something that you can really train.

I don’t think that pockets in trousers were capable of role of the ammo pouches back then. They had no cargo pouches like todays uniforms.

Sure, but first it shouldn’t be part of random selection how the soldier looks we have now.

I still think that trainable irl and not OP perks could stay in current form, but they would require some rework and adjustments to not create one meta. Maybe lower their profits and add more of “smaller perks” to create your own playstyle.
But I agree in the case of better inventory system etc. and how it would affect soldiers mobility.

I fully agree

That’s actually a great idea!

If we will be able to remove helmets and loose weight that way, they will need sth more than protection from pistol round to be worth carrying. Personally I hardly ever aim with SMG not even mentioning aiming at enemy’s head.
Maybe mechanic where you get less damage from explosives when you are lying on the ground. It’s somewhat close to reality but it’s quite situational.
My personal pick is that helmets would decrease effect of suppression. Thanks to that players will have two options: be fast and run away from supprest area (or not get suppresed at all if you know how to manuver) or be more resistant to suppresion.
Of course all those effects could be mixed together etc.
Helmets will need speparate topic.

I only thought about bullet protection, but this would probably work quite well on top of the smg/pistol protection.

Now, I agree it’s useless for me in solo mode.
Solo mode’s human mostly can not one shoot kill you, regular 100% blood is enough.
Bots can one shoot kill you even you have this perk.
Why not use other cheap and useful +100% health regen and +200% medkit. (I already replaced this perk on my premium squads)

Seeing so many others opposing this perk, also useless for me, I will vote “remove”.

If I had to choose one perk to completely remove from Enlisted and never bring it up again, it’s always going to be the Vitality perk. Good fucking riddance if it’s ever removed. Isn’t there supposed to be body armor, could’ve sworn there was an inventory slot for that.
