if they functioned like rifle grenades, then maybe. But at that point why not just stick to rifle grenades?
No. Explosive charge is incomparable. Maybe ability to wound soldiers close to explosion but nothing more.
(I havenāt used them so Iāll asume how they work.)
a) you have much greater range when firing a bullet,
b) you are harder to spot,
c) you may be maniak that just wants to use explosive bullets and spread fear among the enemies (I do it with stuka. My combat effectiveness is just above 0 but itās fun.)
I agree
It could be a cool minor addition
Iām talking about the part where you need to carry them in your inventory.
Than yes.
The charge in the explosive rifle bullets is really not enough to hurt anything or anyone other than who it hits. Realistically, the explosives would pretty much only help to fragment the bullet to increase itās damage.
Essentially, it would only guarantee sniper potential for one-hit-one-kill while not affecting balance. I understand concerns that speak against it, but I still like the idea.
Using sniper rifle that does not reliably kill on long range (which is why sniper rifles exists in the first place) in game feels just stupid anyway.
No worries, it wont be standard, only for those who paid or managed to get dmg upgrade after 500 hours!
So basically seal clubbing ammo?
I still don“t understand why it should be considered as such.
I guess a lot of people just skip or get rid of snipers as soon as they can for SMG/LMG meta + engineer/mortar spam but those who don“t, are well aware, that even if you manage to headshot on every hit, snipers are not the most decisive force in battle and they probably never will (just try to stop waves of attackers/defenders in invasion mode with just sniper⦠you will be able to thin numbers a little bit if you are good, or take out mounted MG here and there, but that“s it. You just can“t kill fast enough to be that decisive. In fact, if those who are in the field fighting for that point incapable of any sort of attack/defence you are going to be useless support anyway).
Why I“am so sure? Simple⦠right now, it would literally do the same as current maxed out sniper rifle. That is even the point of this thread⦠to remove damage upgrades from weapons but keep snipers dangerous (but no overpowered, because they aren“t now even when upgraded, and they will never be). The only thing that changes is the name of upgrade and probably also graphical effect (if devs are not going to be lazy on this one).
They are just not capable of doing that. So essentialy, nothing would change for snipers at all. Its not like your kar/mosin is shooting TNT packs into the crowd hundreds of meters away.
Lastly, I understand that you may think it will be a gamechanger, but we already have gameplay proof (currently performing maxed out snipers) that it isn“t. Only thing we should be afraid of are angry defenders of P2W premium squads and health perks strictly going against a tool that can potentialy dispatch 2-3 members of their entire P2W squad before they reach objective to slaughter everything that still stands on their feet.
So, why not make the damage models based on ammo caliber? like 7.62x54 (mosin) should go further away, but do less damage than 7.92x57 (mauser)
A 9mm pistol deal the same damage per shot as an 9mm submachine gun, and it goes on, the only thing that should change is the distance traveled because of the longer/shorter barrels
I know the balancing issues, but war isnāt fair, and gaijin are trying to do a military SIMULATOR
It is very debatable how effective either cartridge actually was. It would be much easier to balance the cartridges by giving them equal damage. Especially considering that 1 damage is the difference between one-shotting on torso, and only one-shotting on head.
This one does work
Uh no.
1: Gaijin does not develop this game. It is only the publisher
2: Darkflow is the developer, and they never said simulator. Instead, they used the term realism.
3: Realism is between sim and arcade, where you take all features and mechanics that are realistic but do not take away fun. When not 100% perfectly executed, caliber based damage will take away fun as it will allow weapons like semi-automatics or LMGs to do the same ammount as damage as bolt actions, rendering bolt actions entirely obselete. As a result, almost all soldier classes will be rendered obselete as they can only use bolt action rifles, not to mention how it will hurt new players as those do not have massive inventories of better guns.

We plan to make # Enlisted a large-scale military simulator - thatās why we will implement aviation and armored vehicles into the game
Thatās on Enlisted Twitter published on 8th May 2020
The alternative to make players use bolt action rifles is to make troopers/engineers/radio operators use only bolt action rifles and pistols as is right now.
That is literally the ONLY time they mentioned sim. Look literally everywhere else and they say realistic.
making all those classes obselete, as assaulters do get SMGs, and gunners get LMGs.
