Before the major merger, the MP 717 R was part of the German arsenal. I think it’s essential that this weapon be fully integrated into the German arsenal, since it was officially adopted by the German army during the invasion of the Soviet Union, being used in its original version after being captured and later modified to accept Luger cartridges.

I prefer not to see captured weapons. There are more interesting axis smgs for br 5 like kp 31.

Maybe it’s worth adding this and other weapons from Stalingrad as an event.

I agree, but I think the MP 717 is different. The Germans used it out of extreme necessity, since their MP 40s couldn’t compete with the PPSH 41. It wasn’t just a captured weapon, but one that was used on a considerable scale and modified for the standard army cartridge, and was used from the invasion of the Soviet Union until the end of the war. Therefore, it’s not simply a captured weapon.

Personally, I would prefer to see less captured weapons in the game as I think their are too many to begin with. When it comes to the MP 717, I would rather they just buffed an MP-40 or the FNAB 43 to a higher ROF and offered it as opposed to a captured weapon. Both were capable of a much higher ROF, and it would keep Germans using German weapons.

Less captured weapons for all factions IMOP would be better.

I like limited amount of some weapons it makes game more realistic. Btw mp717 not exactly captured - its rearmed for 9 mm

That is mp 41r with the mp 40 mag. Mp 717r uses mauser 7.63x25.

The German designation for the 7.62x25 PPSh was "MP717(r), and for the 9mm conversion “MP41(r)”

Wiki sort of implies there were conversions to the Mauser but there was no need to convert for the 7.63 Mauser - the gun would fire it when in original state - the Mauser round was a little less powerful than the Tokarev, and so was widely used since it could be produced and captured ammo was not always available - but it was not a different version of the gun.

Eg see FINNISH ARMY 1918 - 1945: MACHINEPISTOLS PART 2 for Finnish use of the Mauser round in all hteir captured SMG’s.

Some sights there was rearmed as I remember though

Never, since it was made exclusive as part for compensation.

The exclusivity could be kept by adding another mp 717r model. It would have different wood colour, different rear sights instead of the early production mosin like rear sight in current mp 717r and higher rpm. The old mp 717r could be renamed mp 717r “stalingrad” and dropped to br 4 due to slower rpm and being more comparable with ppsh 45

sure, after drum ppsh is dropped to 4 aswell

could just add a squad like this with the actual ppsh cause 717 is german conversion haha Russian Peoples National Army equipped with captured PPSh 41
