Well in the past yes but now you have 2 event slots that can be very beneficial to fill even with a bad squad. And there is factions you can literally stay at BR I like USSR,Germany or Allies and if you are free player you put 4 squads equip them cheap upgrade them and have fun playing BR I only with Japan I wont recommend BR I since they neither have fun vehicle at this BR or fun SMG so if you wanna play Japan as a new player play BR II or III and for sure if you are a free player you dont wanna play BR IV or V since they are pure P2W.
Yeah I will admit after level 30 on the BP it’s a bit boring and i only really use the silver to save for loot boxes. As for the weapons, I’ll always give them a go and try to fit them in one of my lineups. I enjoy making fun unique builds/lineups.
That reminds me of my post about why ppl should NOT sell their legacy squads for a measly 10k…
Some still did it and even tried to counter argument me.
What can we do.

Trying to help someone who doesn’t want it is foolish thing to do. Most people don’t want to be helped because it would hurt their pride.
So just let them suffer the consequences of their own decisions.

I’ll admit that I did. My counter argument: I didn’t need like 12 riflemen squads for one faction
You can never create too many lineups with different things… especially with the new guns always pouring in… without new squads to use them…
But mostly it’s because I thought the meager 10k offered by devs was straight up insulting to the playerbase.

Well, their original idea was to let people give away those squads without expecting anything in return. 10k ended up being a compromise on their side.

This is debatable. A new player, which is the case with all new players, will look around to what is consistently making them loose matches. Often, this is a certain squad or piece of equipment an older player might have, which a new player might not have. Despite completing the tech tree, which as you acknowledge is their first priority, they still do not have access to fundamental pieces of equipment
On the loot boxes, I did not address this because they are not always available to new and old players alike. Therefore, the opportunity to use them as a way to gain equipment is not a consistent method. Additionally, the odds for players to gain anything are extremely low, and as you acknowledge, harder so if you are a new player because you own nothing, thereby further disadvantaging you. New players might also be focused on upgrades to squads, weapons and vehicles over using their silver for crates. So crates cater to older players, not new ones.
I never suggested otherwise. Players should shop around to see / do what they want and what faction most aligns with their playstyle
This is where we unfortunately disagree. Arguments made to keep content exclusive on the forum and elsewhere show Gaijin / DF that the consensus is against giving new players access. The forum is monitoured and opinions are observed. So, by making an argument against access, you are indirectly contributing towards an opinion that old content, should and will indeed continue to be gate kept.
As always, with all of my ideas, I provided a fundamental framework, something which I always recognise to build upon. Maybe limit the amount of times a weapon can be redeemed, maybe put it on a cool down?

I sold at least 2 German tank squads along with most German and soviet legacy squads I had, and yep not smart the fact that Gaijiun said no noting for getting rid of legacy squads to begin with says all, did get a event para squad though. Thank god I saved those US sniper squads lol.
germany has full auto “snipers” that u.s. doesn’t have access to? Where’s the equality in that?

True, but look at it from an urgency perspective.
For US, the lack of a BR4 rifle is a way bigger issue and this might just be my opinion, but BR3 SMGs and LMGs also need a bit more variety (good opportunity to add iconic guns like Sten Mk.V and Lewis gun).
While for Axis, a BR3 sniper rifle is the only thing missing from their tech tree. Once its added, Axis can only really be expanded with more Italian vehicles, iconic SPGs like Hetzer or StuH.
Now if we look at Japan… They still need a lot of new weapons and vehicles.
Its expected courtesy from devs that every faction needs to receive something in each new major update, so naturally it takes a while for something the playerbase deems urgent to be added.
A good example of it is the AVT-40 20, which took a year and half to be added (and endless begging from everyone, including Axis mains).

Just return the johnsen rifle to BR 4 and maybe then finally the allied players could stop complaining.
They wanted to have it lowered to BR 3 only to then start bitching about not having a BR 4 weapon.

But it wasnt really good enough for BR4.
I guess its true that even an underpowered rifle is better than no rifle, but just moving it back is not a solution.
Allies (and Japan) need a new BR4 rifle that is as good as the G43/SVT-40, its a fact.

Poor Japan.
After this patch buff to g41, I’d argue they now possess the worst semi among br3 (type 4 with 10 rounds) and it’s the best one they have.
They just boosted slightly the damage drop off… for Japan they could have made it a tad better…
…
I ask here because I’m no expert about Japanese firearms, but could the Otsu use a 10 rounds magazine? Did such thing exist? Could be a decent br4 if it did.

I dont think it did and even if it did, Otsu has only 13.8 damage which is realistically too low for BR4.
However, its essentially a copy of the ZH-29.
The best rifles for Japan that come to mind for BR4 are:
Shenyang Arsenal ZH-29
Type Hei late long with 10 round mag

Pre merge Type 4 was more than good for BR4.
It’s actually funny to look back on how many times this weapon’s stats were completely overhauled.
