Type 99 81mm Mortar Japan BR IV

This is a simple update to bring the mortar squads and the AT/infantry capability of japans mortar teams up to par with the other factions mortars.

Why do we need this?
Japan is the last nation to have a mortar for later tier games, the Japanese still use the BR I mortars and it’s highly ineffective at higher BR IV/V games. This would bring balance to later tier Japan and fill out another part of the Tech Tree for Japan.

This mortar has a effective range of 650m (710 yards) but due to enlisted’s map size I’d place it right along side the stats of every other factions mortars at high BR. We have smoke, chemical, and high explosive shells but I would stick with smoke and regular mortars for the sake of balance. This is also on par with Soviet level mortars (which I think all 80+ mm mortars should be down tiered for all factions to BR IV but that’s later on) and gives Japan the ranged edge they need against the allies and hopefully later on the Soviets.

To many times has someone seen a tank creeping by and spawn locking the other team depending on the map, this would help alleviate that issue. This also gives more fodder in terms of research so it takes a bit longer to finish the Japanese for a positive benefit late TT.

Production dates
1943-1944, production amounts are not currently known but this was a mass-produced cheap and effective mortar.

I still firmly believe no mortar should be BR V for balancing reasons, the only reason I would place it at BR IV is it because that’s where it’s at currently in the Allies TT. This keeps things even between both factions, but to further push balance both the Soviets and the Germans need their mortars down tiered to BR IV (which is a separate issue altogether to be addressed another time)

This way with all 4 factions the Allies vs Japanese, Allies vs Germans and Germans vs Soviets is all on the same BR for mortars.

It never made sense why all of the high BR mortars were in BR V except for the allies who have a BR IV one that has same effectiveness as their BR V counterparts.

I actually disagree, all 81mm Mortars should be BR4 imo.

They are such a niche and underused weapon at BR5.

Nah, US M2 mortar is 60mm, with no anti tank ability
German and soviet is the only two faction with 80mm AT mortar

Right.
It has no penetration at all, but instead it has the best ability to kill infantry out of all mortars.

However, because of the difference in penetration, it is reasonable that 81mm mortars have a higher BR.

81mm mortars do not exist in the US, and they are also needed.
Faction with mortars capable of destroying tanks is unique to GE and USSR.

This would go a long way for Japan, especially on the map where they start on the hill. I forget the name, but it’s spawn is cancer if the enemy team Has a pair of tanks. Worse when you have infantry that camps the rocks in front of the objective and observes the hill From the trenches with snipers.
