The new soldiers of Japan: The militia force
At the end of the war, just like the Germans, the Japanese also conscripted a large number of civilians to form militias and fought with crude weapons.
According to the information I have been able to gather, the number of Japanese militia was considerable, and they had some combat records against the Soviet Red Army in the Far East battlefield.
Japan established the United Nations Volunteer Corps. This team, composed of hunters, was equipped with weapons such as rifles and had a certain level of combat capability.
Japan also established various volunteer combat units such as the Railway Volunteer Combat Team, (鉄道義勇戦闘隊)the Ship Volunteer Combat Team(船舶義勇戦闘隊), and the Ship Rescue Combat Team(船舶救助戦闘隊). Moreover, the militia organizations in the Sakhalin region of the Far East were incorporated into the 88th Division of the Japanese army and engaged in battles with the Soviet Red Army until the ceasefire order was received on August 18th.
Do you wish to see these militiamen, dressed in civilian clothes and with colorful armbands on their arms, joining our battlefront? Just like the German soldiers in Berlin.
Seeing thai equipment in the TT would be refreshing, even if it was only a rifle and something else. Equipment is equipment, as stated Japan is the only faction to lack a sub faction. Same can be said for any of Japan’s puppet states back then any of them could be used.
It only opens the door to more unique premium and event squads and maybe the option to change nationality with them like we can do with the other factions soldier nationality customization options. This gives us more uniforms from other places, I was just looking into this last night they have a few options left unless they want to start using the Japanese navy uniforms.
They have a cold environment uniform that would go perfectly with a new campaign and become a permanent option they can use on most TT squads and the event/premium ones.
We could also wind up with the trench coat style capes that they used back then as a standard customization option with the addition for a raincoat style hood If they decided to go further (Would be nice to add a map with rain for Japan and either Allies or USSR.)
So our main way to get new uniforms after using what little we have left and avoiding Japanese navy uniforms is to include puppet states as event and premium squads with something for one of them in the TT with a new squad type and weapon from one of the puppet nations.
