Revisiting Topic, please consider rebalancing the Bf 109 family

I just saw @GasMasters-live post about the Bf 109 F-2 belt and possible rockets and it reminded me that I had a similar post and discussion a while ago and

Well, in my previous post I suggested some changes that I’d love to see in the Bf 109 family that I believe would not only increase the family’s variety but also may bring some balance to it and it’s environment, but this was done before there were polls and such, so now I have a chance to better gauge how my ideas are received and also freshen up some of them.

  • Bf 109 E7/U2 (BR I)
    -2x 8mm mgs, 2x 20mm cannons & 4x 50kg bombs
    -My beloved, just as last time, I believe that this plane is fine as is, tbh a little strong for BR I but nothing OP

  • Bf 109 F-1 (BR II)
    -2x 8mm mgs, 1x 20mm cannon & 4x 50kg bombs
    -Again, I don’t think changes are necessary tbh, good for it’s BR, nothing impressive tho’, a good stepping stone, frankly I could see it be BR I as a side-grade to the E7 and I wouldn’t bat an eye

  • Bf 109 F-2 (BR II)
    -Currently 2x 8mm mgs, 1x 15mg & 4x 50kg bombs
    -My first suggestion here shamelessly lifts from both GasMaster’s post and a comment thread I was on mooonths ago, but it’s basically to give the 15mm it’s AP belt & swap the 4x bombs for 8x AA rockets
  • Keep as is (I don’t like variety)
  • Give the 15mm its AP belt & Change ordnance for 8x AA rockets

  • Bf 109 F-4 (Currently BR III)
    -2x 8mm mgs, 1x 20mm cannon
    -My opinion on this plane has not really changed since the last time I posted my suggestions, as I said before, I think it currently is in a spot similar to the P-38E or maybe even a little worse so as at least the P-38 has 4 x .50mgs as opposed to just 2 8mm ones, so I propose:
  • Keep as is (Move to BR II)
  • Add 2x 15mm mg (Keep at BR III)
  • Add 4x 50kg bombs (Keep in BR III)
  • Add 1x Incendiary Bomb (Keep at BR III)

(Forgot to specify in the 15mm mgs option that it was for external gunpods)

IMO this plane needs some help because yes, the performance is good, but if the enemy has no planes up you’re not really able to contribute to your team and that always sucks

  • Bf 109 G-6 (Currently BR IV)
    -2x 13mm mgs, 1x 20mm cannon & 4x 50kg bombs
    -Again another plane that I’d argue has good performance overall but it’s equipment is not really reflective of it’s BR, for BR IV it has less armament than for example the Fw 190 and it’s ordnance is quite pitiful as well, so what I suggest is:
  • Keep as is (Move to BR III)
  • Add 2x 20mm gunpods (Keep at BR IV)
  • Change ordnance to 1x 250kg (keep at BR IV)
  • Change ordnance to 2x 21cm rockets (Keep at BR IV)

  • Bf 109 G-14 (BR IV)
    -2x 13mm mgs, 1x 20mm cannon & 2x 20mm cannon gondolas
    -Here the performance and the equipment are quite good for a pure fighter, but I feel that for variety’s sake we could swap the 20mm cannon for the 30mm option, making it’s performance even better and further distinguishing it from it’s G-6 brother
  • Keep as is
  • Swap engine cannon to 1x 30mm

  • Bf 109 G-10 (BR IV)
    -2x 13mm mgs, 1x 20mm cannon & 2x 20mm cannon gondolas
    -Yet again another pure fighter, but here I feel that the changes are needed the most, as it’s just basically a slightly better G-14 and that’s it, for this I would suggest that adding ordnance would make it so it stands out a little bit more while it remains a very capable dogfighter
  • Keep as is
  • Add 1x 250kg bomb

  • Bf 109 K-4 (BR IV)
    -2x 13mm mgs, 1x 30mm cannon
    -And finally the very last of the standard 109s, here the change is quite simple, since this is a BR V plane I don’t think that asking for 1x 500kg bomb would be out of the question, just so its performance can stand out and MAAAYBE even tip the balance a little when compared to the Me 262
  • Keep as is
  • Change ordnance to 1x 500kg bomb

Well and with that I finish my very long thread, I know that this is not a perfect list or that it’s going to be to everyone’s taste, but please vote and feel free to discuss what you think about it or how you would like to see the 109 family changed if the devs ever decide on rebalancing them, thanks as always for reading!

Thanks fot the mention. I agree with most of these changes, only 2 things I slightly disagree with though.

-The F2’s bombs should stay if it gets the rockets. Due to the rockets having an extremely small amount of filler compared to the M8s and only being useful against air targets, the bombs would still be necessary, but not be too powerful even considering the upgrades

  • the F4/Trop, IMO, should get the gunpods and bombs. I don’t care much what bomb(s) it gets, but it would still have roughtly the same guns as the IAR81C, which is already BR2. If it is going to remain BR3, the same as the P51D and Ki-100, it needs all the buffs it can get.

all pointless.
we should have loadout options just as in WT.
That we don’t have it aldready is strange and lazy on devs.
Just copy over from that game.
In this game it makes even more sense to have the option to use different loadout, since here we got actual combined arms battles

Nah thank you dude, your post made me stop sitting on the idea and finally redo it haha.

Now, for your ideas, for the F-2 I mainly wanted to focus on it being a pure fighter for BR II, so the rockets mainly being intended for taking on bombers while the 15mm gets better at AT seemed like a good trade-off for me.

And for the F-4, again, mostly the same idea, a pure fighter mostly, but I left the choice up to the people. But yeah, for thing like the Ki-100 I think that they are either undertiered or just misplaced haha thing belongs in BR IV imo.

Well, I don’t think asking for a rebalance of the current system is pointless, no need to be rude but you do you I guess.

And while yes I would like to see a variable loadout system, but for the time being, asking for changes to what we have is what I can do.

Give f4 250kg bomb or add g2 with 250kg or downtier g6 with 250kg bomb.
German BR3 desperately needs a better fighter with at least 250kg bomb to keep up with powercreep

Well I have no issues with it tbh, while yeah I would prefer a more dynamic system I do understand that the tighter constrains of the 5 BR system we currently have would interfere a little with the balance of some of the vehicles, like a P-47 is BR III material at most without any ordnance, so unless they want to make a system to balance vehicles based on loadout, a thing that not even WT has that I’m aware of, I highly doubt it :c

An insult? haha my joke wasn’t that bad my dude and I’m just asking the people who took my survey if they think that the changes I propose are good or if they would rather have the vehicles to stay as they currently are, and in the places were I deemed it necessary I made it multiple choice, that’s how most of my suggestions usually are, I’m still not sure what offended you or anything, at least like 30 people seemed to agree, but again, you do you my dude.

All those can get massive payload buffs.

IL2 is BR2, and that plane is generally more effective than even the BR4 plane buffs you suggested.

Oh no, of couuurse haha but it’s the soviets and well… you know, but even besides that, the IL-2 admittedly does fly like a bathtub and has the speed of a fart and even further beyond that, it’s an attacker so it’s kinda it’s role, at least that’s how I cope with it.

So here I’m trying to balance the 109 family as fighters first and then have some capabilities as ground-pounders on the side
