I can’t deny that of course, it’s now playable compared to the first test server. Still, the ass outside the vehicle is quite silly, lol.
PS: Sorry, I couldn’t answer you earlier, because I couldn’t post on the forum for inactivity in the game. Apparently, you are considered inactive if you haven’t played in less than a week, lol.
I don’t think the soldier models have different sizes in the game. After all, it’s a multiplayer game, so if one side has shorter soldiers, this side might get an advantage. And it is probably more simple for the skins. There might be an exception with the halloween event soldiers but I am not sure.
I don’t know but I did compared their sizes in the game and they’re effectively shorter. However, for now I don’t have any evidence in screenshots except this post:
You can confirm it in the game’s menu, I think that’s the reason why I hated to play against Japan when I was just beggining to play this game, but one gets used to it quickly.
Yeah, like you I don’t really know either. But even if we used potentially shorter japanese soldier models on the kurogane, it would still look very silly, albeit probably less severe than with taller soldiers. The problem isn’t really the soldier’s size, but the fact that the buttstock of the Type 11 LMG pushes them backwards A LOT. You could say that the problem is more “horizontal than vertical”.
This is not a Type 92 HMG, but a Type 3 HMG, which is its predecessor. I had talked about it a while ago in one of my topics. Here is my source : rikaigunnhakubutukantop
Also, now that I’ve learned to take ingame screenshots, I basically have the proof that the mount on the kurogane jeep is completely wrong, and it should indeed be the Type 92 HMG instead of the Type 11 LMG. I am on my phone at the moment, so I will try to write all this in the evening/night.
Is there a belt fed option that could be mounted to make it more like the other jeeps? I would only support this if it was historical of course. If not what would you guys think of having both MGs mounted with the 92 on top an the 11 through the windshield. It would be interesting as the 11 woul have very low traverse and they both have small mag sizes but 2 could increase the firepower if you lined up the jeep perfectly.
Not to my knowledge. The japanese army never really used belt-fed MGs, apart from a few hastily converted aviation MGs fitted with a bipod. The problem is also the fact that if we put two MGs on the kurogane, then why shouldn’t we put two on the other nations jeeps too ? There were officially adopted mounts for the kubelwagen and the jeep willys to fit another MG on the passenger’s seat.
Kubelwagen:
One more pic of the kubelwagen here, but I can’t copy-paste it: Graham Humphrey poses with his Volkswagen Kübelwagen, designed by Dr Ferdinand Porsche for the German army Stock Photo - Alamy
Jeep Willys:
More infos about the jeep willlys many armaments here: Armed and Armored: Jeeps with Teeth - The Armory Life
I think the better option might be to have a quicker reload time for the kurogane compared to the other nations.
So, now that I’ve learned to take screenshots ingame, here is what I found that proves the fact that it should indeed be the Type 92 HMG mounted on the kurogane, and not the Type 11 LMG.
But first, here are the pics of the Type 92 HMG and Type 11 LMG on their tripods in an AA role:
And these are screenshots of the ingame kurogane that i took:
As you can see, the ingame kurogane is literally equipped with the tripod of the Type 92 HMG, but they’ve put the Type 11 LMG in its place which is completely unrealistic !
The standard tripod the Type 92 used could be switched to an AA role by removing the MG, and putting a rod in the mount to elevate the gun and fit it to that rod. You can literally see that, apart from the rod, the tripod of the Type 92 HMG ingame and the tripod used in the kurogane are indeed the same model:
And remember, if the kurogane was equipped with a Type 11 LMG instead, it should be equipped with the tripod in the pic I put above, which would be indeed quite impractical.
I will edit my first post to add my findings. Hopefully the devs will fix this mistake.
I have found a pic of the Type 3 HMG with its tripod in AA configuration:
And as you can see, it is indeed the same mount in the pic you found:
Because from what I could gather, it seems that each japanese MG type had their own dedicated tripods, and it seems that these weren’t interchangeable, so this pic was very likely taken in the late 20s/early 30s like I said.
They literally went out of their way to completely make up a machinegun mount just so they could give Japan the worst possible mg for their car. Unbelievable
I struggle to understand too why they did this. The tripod looks pretty much spot on, apart from the legs that seem to have been modified a bit to fit in the kurogane which is a small vehicle, so it’s understandable. It’s just that the Type 11 has nothing to do on this Type 92 tripod. And it’s not like there is a huge difference in stats to justify this choice, we are still talking about two rifle caliber, slow firing, 30 round mag machine guns, with just a few differences in the caliber and rate of fire. The other nations all have a higher caliber MG with bigger mags equipped on their jeeps. This choice is really weird.
No, I dont think we would have to add 2 MGs to the other jeeps if it was given to japan. (although it might not be a bad idea) Even with 2 MGs it would still have similer power to the other jeeps. The second MG could only be used in very limited cases and needs very good positioning to use. The 2 MGs fire rates add up to 950RPM which is almost the exact same as the MG34 on the kubelwagen, and it has 4 crew instead of 3. So in theory you could have 10 more rounds and 150 more RMP than the kubelwagen but only if you position it perfectly. I think this is a good enough trade for having haveing 3 dudes instead of 4.
Hell, I would consider it underpowered. I have been playing the jeeps a bunch and the high kill streaks are almost alway made by shooting the MG sideways over a berm.
Sorry, my bad, I just fixed it. My point still stands though.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that half your firepower gets cut when your first gunner invitably gets sniped, unlike all the other jeeps.
(also, am i crazy or can the enemy steal your jeeps?
What your are suggesting is different from the main subject of this topic. If you have a clear idea of what would be better, you should do a new suggestion topic with everything you have in mind. Add as much material as possible, why you think it would be a good idea, etc… And don’t forget to add a poll if you make a suggestion topic, because it’s mandatory now if you don’t want it to get closed.
For me, I am fine with having only one MG on the kurogane, as long as it has a quicker reload time than all the other jeeps, because at the moment, the willys and the gaz are the ones with the biggest “mag size” with 250 rounds, then comes the kubelwagen with 50 rounds, and the kurogane is last with 30 rounds. By that logic, the kurogane should have the quickest reload, the kubelwagen should be little slower, and the willys and gaz should have the longest reload time. Because in terms of IRL practicality, replacing a 250 round box probably takes way longer than just sliding a 30 round metal strip in the gun (which is also another reason why the Type 92 is more realistic for the kurogane, because reloading the Type 11 is longer and more tedious, especially if you’re in a moving vehicle on rough terrain).
Edit: I also forgot to mention that all jeeps seem to have the same reload time at the moment, which is unrealistic (and not very balanced) when you see the difference between the different mag sizes.
