Personally, I think it’s the stupidest and dumbest thing ever, then again it’s Gaijin and that’s their specialty. So I want to ask you guys and gals if we do get the type 97 anti-tank launcher added to the Japanese TT, do you want it to replace the Ofenrohr?

No Mr.Delavr, many people here have been asking the oh so “beloved” devs to replace the Japanese and American Ofenrohr with something they actually produced.
I think the reason for why there wasn’t more of an outcry at the time was because people expected that this would be a temporary balance solution, until better alternatives were added.
At least that’s why I didn’t say anything at the time.
Granted, no one from the development said this was going to be temporary. But honestly, the reason why “finding a replacement” has been such a topic for this entire time is because that is what this move was commonly understood as…
The alternative is accepting that the devs were so god damn lazy that they couldn’t be bothered to create and add dmomestic AT alternatives, and rather chose to permanently lobotimise the tech trees instead.
Copy-pasting German AT weapons isn’t an idea that is actually liked, it was just accepted as a balance solution “until something better comes along”. Now that something better is approaching, it’s just time to do what everyone was naturally expecting anyway…

I definitely think there should be native high BR launchers added to both of them… just not the removal of ofenrohr.
I would shift that blame on the US players who complained ever so long about an infantry method to kill tiger 2 frontally… if they were patient they could have continued advocating for super bazooka, yes it was definitely a cop out though.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I was initially a fan of removing the Ofenrohr when the Type 97 HEAT was eventually added, but I think the best option for everyone is to just leave it. They have such different mechanics that from a gameplay perspective they really don’t step on each other’s toes.
Now that so many Ofenrohr are in the hands of Japanese players it wouldn’t be right to take it away. If it was never there in the first place I’d say we shouldn’t add it, but it’s much too late for that.
It seems to me that this has been the developers’ top priority in recent years. And to finally get it done, they’re throwing all available resources at it.
