May I ask a single source, US army ever using “assault carbine” definition ?
They call it carbine but things like the m4 carbine fit under that. Now tell me is the m4 carbine a smg? Or closer to an assault rifle? Yet it has lower effective range surely it’s a smg right man???

The definition of assault rifle is quite clear.
And im relatively sure even without checking the M4 does have more energy at 300m than many smg’s has muzzle energy.
And so does the m2 carbine. And Thompson 30 cal……

.30 carbine shot from m1 actually has less energy at 300m than thompson has muzzle energy.
Unlike the real intermediate cartridges that retains the energy even at 300m having notably more energy than smg’s.
It has higher velocity better penetration and flatter trajectory at 300 meters. It’s a smaller caliber round. Almost like pistol calibers are typically larger than assault rifles…. Crazy I know.
Which has absolutely nothing to do with anything discussed here.

What ur saying: nub uh cuz 30 carbine, a round that already has assault rifles associated with it in game, has 290 meters effective range instead of 300 meters.
