Hey everyone.
I want to bring up the old event semi-auto rifle Breda PG (Carcano) which is currently sitting at BR IV. It’s a pretty rare gun from an old event, and right now it’s basically collecting dust in the inventory because there is zero reason to ever use it in BR IV-V matches.
If you look at the current datamine stats and compare it to what we already have at BR III, it’s pretty obvious this is objectively a Tier 3 weapon. Especially after the recent recoil control nerf where they cut its hidden recoil modifier, while leaving the damage at the weak 6.5mm Carcano level.

The Math (TTK and DPS)
Fully upgraded, it deals 13.6 damage at 10 meters with a 350 RPM fire rate (5.83 shots/sec). That gives it a theoretical point-blank DPS of around 79.3. And this is where the main issue for BR IV comes in — damage breakpoints:
- Vitality perk (13.5 HP): The 13.6 damage only holds up for the first 10-15 meters, after that damage drop-off kicks in and the gun stops one-shotting soldiers with Vitality. At any normal combat engagement distance, it’s a 2-hit kill (2HK).
- Soviet body armor (-10% damage): Here it gets even worse. Against body armor at 10 meters, it deals 13.6 * 0.9 = 12.24 damage. That means against a Soviet assaulter with body armor and Vitality, the Breda doesn’t even one-shot at point-blank range — you always need 2 hits.
- Actual TTK: As soon as a 350 RPM semi-auto drops from a 1-hit down (0 ms TTK) to a 2-hit kill, its TTK jumps to 171 ms + bullet travel time of a very slow round (630 m/s).
In BR IV-V lobbies against AVTs, T20s, or full-power semi-autos with 15.3 damage, that kind of TTK is a death sentence. Meanwhile, for USSR players at BR III, running into a Breda is actually much more forgiving than facing a Gewehr 41 or Pavesi SVT (which have 15.3 and 15.6 damage and one-shot right through body armor).
Comparison with BR III counterparts
Some might argue that a 20-round magazine is too much for BR III. Honestly, that’s very debatable since the US tree at BR III already has the Winchester M1907 with a 20-round mag (and a bayonet), plus the event Meunier A6 with 15 rounds and one-shot capability, and everything is fine — it didn’t break BR III balance at all.

I put together a table with the main fully upgraded stats so you can clearly see the TTK and DPS comparison:
| Weapon | Damage (10/100m) | ROF | DPS | Mag | Reload | Velocity | vs Vitality (20m+) / Armor | Real TTK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Breda PG (BR 4->3) | 13.6 / 11.1 | 350 | 79.3 | 20 | 2.5 s | 630 m/s | 2 shots | 171 ms |
| Winchester 1907 | 12.6 / 9.8 | 350 | 73.5 | 20 | 2.9 s | 570 m/s | 2 shots | 171 ms |
| VG 1-5 | 9.6 / 7.5 | 420 | 67.2 | 30 | 2.7 s | 680 m/s | 2 shots | 143 ms |
| SVT-38 | 14.4 / 11.8 | 350 | 84.0 | 10 | 2.6 s | 815 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
| SKS-30 | 15.3 / 12.5 | 350 | 89.2 | 10 | 3.0 s | 815 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
| M1 Garand | 15.3 / 12.5 | 350 | 89.2 | 8 | 2.9 s | 830 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
| M1941 Johnson | 15.3 / 12.5 | 350 | 89.2 | 10 | 3.4 s | 830 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
| Meunier A6 | 14.4 / 11.8 | 380 | 91.2 | 15 | 5.4 s | 800 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
| Gewehr 41 | 15.3 / 12.5 | 350 | 89.2 | 10 | 4.8 s | 750 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
| Pavesi SVT | 15.6 / 12.8 | 350 | 91.0 | 10 | 4.0 s | 790 m/s | 1 shot | 0 ms (down) |
The table clearly shows two things:
- The US Winchester 1907 and the Breda PG have the exact same TTK (171 ms) at combat ranges against Vitality and the same 20-round magazine size.
- Compared to the tech-tree German VG 1-5, they are pretty much evenly balanced. The VG 1-5 has a 30-round mag, 420 RPM fire rate when upgraded, and because of that, the 2-shot TTK on the VG 1-5 is actually faster than the Breda (143 ms vs 171 ms)! Plus the VG has lower recoil (39/17 vs 49/21), better dispersion (19 vs 22), and higher muzzle velocity (680 vs 630 m/s). The Breda only wins out by being able to one-shot non-Vitality bots up close and holding its damage slightly better at range, while paying for it with 10 fewer rounds per mag and a slower fire rate.
And if you compare it to standard BR III semi-autos like the SVT-38 (which has a 2.6s box mag reload, great 815 m/s velocity, and reliable one-shots) or the M1 Garand, the Breda straight up loses in head-on fights because it lacks one-shot power against Vitality/body armor.
Conclusion
It’s an old event gun, it’s not in the tech tree so nobody is going to spam it in matches anyway. At BR IV it serves zero purpose right now, whereas at BR III it would sit nicely right between the spammy 30-round VG 1-5 and the hard-hitting but slow-reloading G41 / Pavesi.
I suggest moving the Breda PG (Carcano) to BR III with its current stats unchanged.
-
- Yes, by TTK and stats it belongs at BR III (on par with Winchester 1907 and VG 1-5)
-
- Yes, it’s a rare event gun, let it at least be playable at BR III but it can be a little nerfed for downing at 3 BR
-
- No moving on 3 BR
P.S. Right now Germany’s BR III population is in a pretty rough spot, and a change like this could actually give veterans a reason to queue BR III Axis more often.
I’m also totally fine if they slightly nerf its damage or increase the reload time to make the transition to BR III completely fair. Over a year ago, I actually made a thread on the RU forum suggesting a damage buff for the Breda PG so it could stay competitive at BR IV. It got solid support from the community, but in the end we got nothing — no damage buff, no changes at all (only the global recoil control nerf later on).
Since the devs clearly don’t want to buff its damage to true BR IV standards, the only logical move left is to drop this relatively rare event gun down to BR III.
