Mannlicher M1888 Siamese

Between 1890 and 1901, the Kingdom of Siam received 15,000 Mannlichers rifles M1888 and M1888/90 from OEWG (Steyr more later) after bulgaria defaulted on their payments in a purchase of 140,000 M1888, M1886/90 and M1888/90 Mannlichers.

Originally known as “Type Mannlicher Long Rifle” were re-designated for Type 33 Rifle when Siam adopted the Buddhist Calendar in 1913.

In the tech tree because for Japan it’s probably the best option for a bolt-action rifle that allows aiming while firing, it would be a new weapon in the game and also the counterpart of the Winchester M1895 and Ross Mk III

:white_check_mark: Gameplay Purpose & Role
Would fill the gap of a bolt-action rifle that allows aiming between shots in Japan faction.

Calls for a Japanese BA rifle capable of the “cycling-whilst-aiming” feature inside of the tech tree will continue until it is filled.

In order to avoid something as dumb as a “Captured SMLE Mk III” being added to the TT in the future, this thing must be added instead.

Not only that, Enlisted should look into the idea of giving all factions subfactions, and for Japan the best candidate really is Thailand (potentially unique gear for Japan and the rest of the game, and not as controversial as a Manchurian subfaction).

For the stated above reasons, I belive the Mannlicher M1888 needs to be a TT unlock.

Thank you for your time.

Agree, after I making this post I thought about it a lot and came to the conclusion it’s better to add in TT because we have a lot of information about it and it’s a new weapon in the game, not a copy-and-paste

I’ll edit the post in a few minutes.

I hope we can get at least one Thai squad next year

Yes, me too.

Your previous Thai suggestion mentioned purchased SMLEs specifically for the Thai Royal Guard, and honestly that sounds way cooler as a unique squad than a generic Thai Army squad, and I hope that is added instead.

Regular army units should instead be added as part of a subfaction update, that’s how I’d like to see it.

They were disbanded in 1925 after the death of King Rama V but even so, the Siamese SMLE III can be a weapon for an event squad.

That would be really cool, there a lot of Thai content that could be added.
Japan should have received the first Thai event squad after the Tigers of Burma update, just as the Allies gained a Chinese event squad

Thank you for your post.

I agree!

@OggeKing Couldnt agree more. Each faction deserves a sub-faction. Thailand would be good for Japan, more new content without making stuff up (cough M2 carbine sawn off cough)

Enlisted desperately needs more content and new factions (via sub-factions) are the best solution.

And nations MUST NOT be limited to stupid event/premium squads, they should be represented in tech trees first and foremost.

Agree, there are many sub-factions with a lot of potential that aren’t in the game yet but Df prefer copy and paste weapons Lol

I think if there were tech trees for each sub-faction but still within the matchmaking of their main nations it would be very cool

Nice work on the research for this one!

I’m pretty much in the same boat: use the most relevant straight-pull rifle possible for the Japanese tech tree, without copy-pasting from something already in the game. I believe it would be really good for the Japanese tree to get Thai stuff added in in a sub-faction sort of way, since there’s absolutely no way a standalone Thai tree could be added, and this is probably the most “important” thing to add from a “missing tech tree items” perspective.

Let’s hope this gets forwarded!
