The Madsen M/38 was a 20 mm autocannon, it was used as both anti tank and anti air weapons. It had various users, such as China and Finland. It was also tested by American at Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1940, despite it’s has pretty good penetration(42mm from 100m), but was rejected because it might be no longer useful to deal with future tanks.
The reason I prefer it as an American weapons is because German already had another option for their full auto AT rifle, which I’ve just suggested.
If America have this AT rifle, you can penetrate almost every Br 1 Axis tanks from the front, with it’s 15 round magazine and full auto capability, you can disable enemy tanks and APCs more quickly.
As for the 60 round variant, I think it would be a good option for a premium squad to counter the Type 99 cannon squad.
Do you want America have this unique full auto cannon?
I like the Idea of getting something like that for all nations out of fairness but getting something more distinctly American or British would be better IMO.
I know what you mean, honestly I think America should get the Robinson SR-14, it’s a man portable .50 HMG(around 20 kg), but we don’t have enough information about this gun.
However, one of them is in the Royal Armouries Museum, maybe 1 day we will see a video about it. https://royalarmouries.org/collection/object/object-271997
Another gun that would be a good fit (I think @Slakrrrrrr made a suggestion about it and or mentioned it in a video) is the “Browning M2 Anti Mechanization Weapon”.
IMO this is the one for USA… although the SR14 sounds neat too… either really.
Neat, think I’ll stick to Nikko Sterling though lol…
Old optics more often than not have a lovely low fov and poor eye relief… at least they had optics.
I should mention it is cool to see the real deal though… neat to see.
Yeah that browning is cool sadly It would probably get the same Pen of the boys ATR because It still is a 50.cal unless they decide to give It more Pen or some thing I also remenber that it is semiauto
Tis unusual for sure. They tested any number of weapons at Aberdeen many more promising than others this one isn’t bad from the outset, some things they didn’t even bother testing.
Madsen doesn’t mean always Soviet. During the first Russo-Japanese war, the Russian empire bought a batch of 1250 Madsen MGs (designed by the Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat company) from Denmark, eventually they used them in WW1, and the Soviets during the Battle of Moscow.
The Soviet Union never adopted or bought the M/38 Madsen 20mm Automatic cannon, however they did captured some units from Finland during the Winter War, units that were sent to the Kuvinka and NIPSVO institutes for research). A little batch of units were captured when the Soviets annexed the Baltic states, but since they didn’t had access to 20x120mm danish ammo, the weapons were practically unused.
