I think the point here is, although forum polls are important, and contribute to helping game development, the Enlisted community spans far further than these hallowed halls, through Twitch, YouTube, and so on. So the feelings of 169 people who voted on a forum thread aren’t necessarily representative of the wider Enlisted community.
Nobody’s tried this new class (outside the devs), so nobody really knows how it’s going to work yet. It’s probably best to reserve judgement for now.
We had the same worries about the guerrilla class when they were released too. They’re now my favourite squads.
The users on these forums are going to be the most dedicated, active, and oldest players in the Enlisted community.
I’m going to be blunt with you but I feel like the opinions of veterans, the people who supported this game for years, matter more than the oddball Twitch viewer who boots up the game once a week or other kinds of drifters or tourists.
I still think its stupid that a white American dude from the US army is going to put on an IJA uniform and perfectly blend in around bots from the imperial japanese army
I’m concerned about the gameplay AND the immersion implications
Again I am going to be blunt, but if people from Call of Duty come over to Enlisted and start asking for rainbow weapon skins or something stupid, their opinions should not carry the same weight as the people who have played Enlisted for years since the alpha
The people who played for years, and still continue to play, care significantly more about the current and future health of Enlisted.
Whilst I am less comfortable with making the “elitism” argument than @Willcario , it should still be noted that there does seem to be a correlation between experience\dedication and disliking the upcoming class.
I actually wish that the game would conduct in-game surveys, like many other live-service games do, those would undoubtably be the most useful for the developers, especially if account details was connected to them (like hours played, or wether or no the account had any premium content on it).
However, both the youtube poll and the reddit poll were anonymous and open to the entierty of the internet (where as the forum one was public, and restricted to only people with accounts for the game), plus they have they each have their own subculture around them. Not to mention, the youtube one had some biased or faulty framing. It would be naive to think that any one of these three polls here presented represents a true opinion poll for the entire game… The forums have dedicated and active players, quadro makes gameplay videos which brings in casual viewers (no garuantee of how many of them even have the game installed), and reddit which… Actually, I don’t know what type of people use the Enlisted reddit.
To get back on point… No, logically speaking, everyone’s opinion is not of equal value. For one, even just from a monetary prospective, the devs should consider persoectives that plausibly lead to more revenue than others. Even more so when taking feedback from someone who played once three years ago vs one who has continually played the game since the same point.
When a overwhelming majority of the dedicated playerbase are providing feedback, the devs should sit up and listen. Here, the Saboteur strikes a complete tonal missmatch with what the game is supposed to represent, that’s the shortest explenation that encompases most peoples concerns with the class.
Lame excuse, if those people really dislike the class why will they think the class was cool in the first place. You are just nitpicking the wording because the poll didn’t meet your agenda.
Maybe we need to accept the fact that there is other community that have very different opinion compare to the forum.
This only make sense if we are not discussing about Enlisted. If we put fedorov avtomat on Quadro’s poll it will be like
The new Enlisted Fedorov Avtomat is:
very cool
kinda cool
not cool
very not cool
Do you really think Veekay45 will only focus on the gun itself? The poll literally mention Enlisted. Of course he will discuss about Fedorov Avtomat in Enlisted.
Let Call of Duty players go back to playing Call of Duty. Enlisted is a WWII history game; we can’t let a bunch of people who know nothing about WWII history ruin the authenticity of a WWII history game with brightly colored toy guns.
Reddit supported the removal of Gold Order, and we all know why public opinion there is like that. So stop pretending. You may as well add some discord polls to make the stats prettier.
