Flak Cannons, Ultimate Engineer Building

Flak Cannons should be added as an Engineer building for the Engineer Squad. They are powerful, versatile guns that can be used against planes and tanks and ground targets. They would cost nearly all of an Engineers points, require a whole crew to operate, and are exposed and vulnerable. Note that they are not supposed to be a replacement or upgrade to existing AA guns but a distinct multi-purpose weapon. They are not BR restricted just like Heavy Machine Guns or Bombing Runs, as their weaknesses balance them. They are a powerful weapon for dealing with infantry, planes, bombing runs, paratroopers, and tanks

The only part I disagree with is them not being BR restricted. BR1 would just be seal club nerd spamming flak guns cause they’d be anti-everything.

Theoretically they wouldn’t be common in BR 1 since that’s the starting level and most wouldn’t have fully upgraded Engineers yet, unless high tier players are purposely playing low. Even then Bombing Runs and HMGs aren’t restricted

Also, the weaknesses of the Flak Cannons balance them that even in BR 1 they can be countered. Snipers, planes, even a light tank can easily destroy them

They would most likely only be common in higher tiers anyway, but I specify they’re not BR restricted because I think that would be pointless.

These are nearly identical to high br field guns just no shield and more elevation. So what’s the point?

I’m just gonna tell you that if these were put into BR1 lobbies, I would be abusing them like crazy. It’s a high caliber gun at a BR where most players are new, it would just be a noob stomper.

AA guns are for planes, but you’re helpless against tanks
AT guns are for tanks, but you’re helpless against planes

The Flak Cannon combines both. It has great power and versatility at the price of high point cost and vulnerability. One minute you’re shooting infantry, the next you’re taking down a bombing plane or incoming paratroopers, and the next you take out a tank

Or you could just… built an at gun and a aa gun next to each other.

But the issue is that it would be a noob stomper in BR1. Someone who is new to the game would get squad wiped by an 88mm, spawn in a tank and get killed by it, spawn in a plane and get killed by it. They’d try to figure how you build one and realize they can’t because it’s restricted to high tier squads, then they’d never play the game again.

I get the idea, I want the Na-To and Alecto to be moved to BR1, but the Na-To is terrible against infantry and the Alecto isn’t very good against tanks and both of them can’t do anything if a plane shows up. A flak gun would be too versatile and you can’t expect a noob to be able to count it when it’s much more effective at killing than anything that counters it.

Well yes, but the point is you have options. You could build 2 smaller guns, or use most of your points to build 1 powerful, versatile gun

I’m of the belief that the only way the chicks will learn to fly is you must throw them out of the nest

Yes they may get killed over and over again, but they will learn strategies and how to survive

Or quit en mass

To play a war game you must have the stomach to die over and over and over and over again.

To play a war game you must have the stomach to die over and over and over and over again.

with an equal chance to kill the enemy back
flak is fine, 88/90mm is not
it can kill any tank at any br
it has too much he fill
it has too high a rate of fire
its far too strong for low br

br5 with -+1 matchmaking as it would be in br 4 5 lobies
br4 with -+0 as it just too strong for br3 2 1

Its weaknesses are the balance. It costs pretty much all of an Engineers points, it requires a whole crew to function so you cant just hide your AI in a nearby building, it is completely exposed so its an easy target

It’s an easy target that can one tap anything that tries to destroy it.

This kind of mentality would kill Enlisted, new players are already heavily disadvantaged. Adding a brand new seal clubbing mechanic with the justification of “New players need to get used to dying over and over again” is braindead

Other mechanics aren’t locked. HMGs, Ampulomets, Bombing Runs, who knows what else may come. Flak Cannons will just be yet another added to the list

Like Ive said it not the direct intention that you would be facing these in low BR, but it’s just a consequence of them being added to the game. Players will just have to be used to the reality that may face them. Probably rarely, but possible nonetheless

Bombing runs are useless, ampulomets are underpowered, and HMGs are actually pretty good.

But think of it like this, would I rather have a Pak38 50mm field gun, or would I rather have a Flak 88mm anti-everything cannon. There’s a reason why AT guns are now BR specific. Trying to compare a 90mm cannon to a bombing run is hilariously delusional

perhaps instead of being able to build them, u can use them in maps which have them, similar to a non-buildable machine gun nest in Berlin / DDAY / Stalingrad etc

AA Guns should scale with BR, just like the AT Cannons do, it’s a nobrainer.
I’m sure that’s also on the list for the devs todo
