Now first off I do enjoy the game and want it to succeed, it has got my attention and some of the core mechanics are very promising (like vehicles damage models, fortifications, AI squads, historical accuracy, focus on the Eastern Front).
But the major problem I see is that most of what the game has to offer is locked from a new player behind progression/buying your way through.
Machine gunners, flamethrowers, mortars, artillery, planes etc only become available down the line.
A new player might only have a bolt action rifle and the smallest tank, but they can already face heavy tanks, bombers, artillery while not having ANY way to counter them (they have neither AT grenades on all soldiers, neither can build AA guns, nor can they counter artillery strike, build squad spawns etc).
Now I do understand that any game developer nowadays and especially F2P games incentivize you to buy your way up and that’s ok in general.
What’s not ok is the fact that a new players has no counters to the tools other players might have.
It’s all fun and games right now, since most players are more or less at the same level but after a year or two one can imagine a new player starting their first game and getting a barrage of V-2s, Tiger tanks and He-111 bombers while havin a Mosin rifle.
I doubt many new players will want to grind through that.
In conclusion, I believe any starter pack for any new player should include things like (even if basic) AT tools, AA tools, respawn points, etc.
While progression will unlock more and better stuff from those categories.
E.g. let’s imagine in BFV: I am a new player and I get killed by a tank, I respawn as assault with an AT grenade and I can try and take out that tank.
In Enlisted: I am a new player and I get killed by a tank, I try to respawn with AT tools but all my assaults are dead and none of my snipers/engineers available for spawn have AT grenades or the ability to build an AT gun.
This powerlessness won’t feel fun and will potentially scare off a lot of players down the line.
