History

The M1923 “Military Model” Thompson was perhaps the first departure from the M1921’s “gangster gun” persona. It was designed to fire at a much slower 400 rounds per minute, and was chambered around the .45 Remington Thompson cartridge. This cartridge firing from the long barrel of the M1923 had a much faster velocity of 1450 ft/s (442m/s) than the 800-900ft/s of the .45 ACP (265m/s in-game).

Why an Assault Rifle?

While the designations of weapons in Enlisted is somewhat arbitrary, the M1923 fits the profile of an assault rifle quite well. The .45 Remington Thompson has 1165 ft/lbs of force compared to the 967 ft/lbs of .30 Carbine, and the gun is an enlarged Thompson SMG, which is already quite heavy for an SMG.

Tech Tree, Event, or Premium?

I personally would like to see Assault Rifle options included into the tech trees of all nations where there are appropriate options for lower BRs. This post, as well as a couple of future ones, will focus on the USA tree, but there are certainly options for the other tech trees, and this suggestion is not intended to exist in a vacuum (AKA I don’t have USA bias. I want more ARs for all trees as sidegrades for SMGs).

Would go nicely with an assault engineer squad. Maybe with an event like that they could give us 2 Mkb.35s as well for the German assault engineers.

I think 20 Meg are BR2 of the BP and 50 Meg are worth adding to BR4 of TT.
The velocity of the bullet is similar to Kiraly’s (445m/s), and its ROF is as low as 400, so it looks worth competing with Kiraly and Sawed off M2 in addition to BR4.

Oh of course Sawed off M2 should be lowered to BR4.

11.43x25 is still very much a pistol cartridge… Making a .50 AE SMG wouldn’t make that an assault rifle either… And there are more intermediate rifle cartridges that has less force than .45 Remington Thompson than just .30 Carbine.

Ima disagree here, this is not a BR2 weapon chiefly for the power of the round

Its basically a Thompson MAGNUM, damage and velocity is higher than regular .45 by a good margin and the heaviness of the weapon suggests goood recoil control.

This is BR3 minimum likely.

I believe the second pic is using the .351WSL round as well but cant confirm. Also a powerful round by a wide margin.

Sorry, I’m voting no on all of these. Might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t want more autorifle nonsense at low BR, and don’t really want more of it in the game.
