No. The arguments are: it increases ttk on smgs. Increases ttk on semi auto. Increases ttk against type hei auto. Its stats are hidden. It reduces cosmetic expression by making a meta choice. And it’s only for one faction.
There’s several sub points to this but these are the primary.
The Shin Gunto speed boost and Soviet Body Armor effect should be removed. Although we could probably keep it for assault engineers and some premium squads, otherwise the helmet effect for German assault engineers squads should also be removed.(also japan premium rider squad)
In this publication that I read in 2024, if I remember correctly, they showed documents stating that the weight of Soviet armor was not beneficial and was penetrated like butter by the calibers of 7.92/33
Even so, cosmetics should not give the player an advantage.
It was ineffective specifically against a rifle bullet in engagements occurring at ranges of less than 100 meters. This matches the technical specifications, where the objective was protection against shots at normal incidence from distances of… I believe 300 meters.
It is specifically about the SN-42, which is more than twice as thin as the heavy versions of the SN-39, which is the one mainly represented in our game.
Whether you prefer ‘coolness’ factor and event swords having the benefit or ‘balance’ factor and not locking such a buff behind time investment that gives vets another advantage - this issue is solvable within minutes and surprisingly is only brought up when someone talks about body armor
Almost as if it wasn’t about balance but some people being afraid of losing their little piece of equipment
Maybe I should go and make the post right now just so it cannot be brough up again
Shin Gunto will be better than axes even without the speed boost (longer range). However, I wouldn’t see much of a problem if axes had 150% speed boost. However, removing Shin Gunto’s speed boost is a simpler and better solution.
Having people running around with swords and axes ruins the immersion of World War II to a great extent.
Honestly, I wouldn’t even mind removing the speed boost from all melee weapons (even event equipment).
Instead, you could give knives a stamina buff (meaning you lose less stamina while running with a knife), swords a speed and vitality boost only when charging.
As per to shut some people up already, since you are so eager to defend body armor but for obvious reason cannot put the same ferocity into actually making posts yourself to actually make the game better for yourself
Almost as if it wasnt about Shin Gunto in the first place lmao
Id add the GE assault engi ? helmet to that list as well.
That thing makes you 10% less dead upon headshot so its also one of those things that comes up only when speaking of bodyarmor.
Almost as if its existence somehow justifies the bodyarmor.
Im personally in favour of keeping the assault engineers armored pieces - both GE and Soviet ones, and even adding armor for Japan and US ones
But we will cross that bridge once we get there and the devs decide whether they want the body armor gone on the soviet assault engineers. If it stays, German ones stay and we fight for US and Japan ones to get something. If it does not stay - we fight for removing the German helmet benfit
Right now theres just too much unknown factors to make a proper assumption for a coherent post that excludes possible fuck-ups
I am also from Russia. And I also support removing the 10% protection of cuirasses in Enlisted, as this is a relic of the past in the game, as are the “Silver” and “Gold Bids” (silver (gold) applications for the purchase of weapons)
Unironically the helmets do reduce 1 shot neckshot distance for SMGs and SMGs only by 15m iirc (its been some time since I’ve calculated it)
Its still avaible for all nations with the exception of Japan, as devs decided that their helmets are considered unarmored and do not provide any protection
The damage reduction of helmets could be added to (as its aviable for all nations) or removed from all pieces of buyable helmets and honestly I wouldn’t care which one it is or when it happens because there are many things that should be worked on first
Maybe for the sake of consistency I will make a post in the future but its again a bridge we will cross once we get there
Cosmetics should stay (naturally), but I really don’t think they should have modifiers…
The rest of the snappenpanzer set (the lobster armour) can be added and be made a full, automaticly equiped and fixed set of armour in the backpack slot for the Assault Engineer squad.
More than happy for the Soviets to be the only ones to get universally equipable plates. And for the British MRC body armour to be cosmetic-only in Normandy and Bulge campaigns.
