You’re almost right? The FG42 was developed as a jack-of-all-trades weapon that could replace the MG34 in paratrooper service, and what they made is an automatic rifle, generally used as a rifle, but also controllable enough in automatic to be a decent light machine gun. There were about 7000 manufactured, and basically all of them were in service with paratrooper divisions on the western front, issued one per ten-man squad (or “section”).
Ugh, no! I’d rather see MP43s if we have to give every german soldier an automatic weapon. The 1918 ribeyrolles was a one-off, poorly designed, simple blowback carbine. I’m generally ok with prototypes and experiments for premium squads or gold orders, but devs would have to stretch pretty far to grab this garbage from the end of WW1.
Not chambered for 8x35, it wouldn’t be. If added it would hit like the M2 Carbine or Mp43.
I main allies in normandy, and even I think the Jumbo was a mistake. The panther is another mistake, overcompensating for the jumbo. FG42 for everyone is a mistake, probably overcompensating for giving the M2 carbine to basic troops, even though they’re barely comparable weapons.
Few since the panther was added. We’re not joking, we’re not whining. Giving the FG42 as a troops choice in normandy is a mistake that results in OP squads. You made a good point earlier though, that it’s a late campaign unlock, but since a lot of axis vets are playing EZ mode in Normandy we’re seeing a lot of them. Moving it to gunners solves the problem now and prevents it in the future.

then there is nothing wrong since they are all clumped up, oh i’ll repeat this: bf110 is a lvl 4 unlock, so the allies have to get to lvl 27 to get what the axis can do at lvl 4
now that im using only plane im going to evaluate my perormance with both planes, my average bomb run with the p47 is 15 kills and usually a tank if i see it b4 the bomb run.
im going to play only bf110 an see if it is so OP as ppl say.
don’t forget to use the guns, they are 100% useful for doing everything
I can’t tell what you’re on about. I’ve very clearly stated I don’t think giving the FG42 to everyone was a good idea. I have no issue with giving the axis more french weapons for the normandy campaign and have nothing against french weapons in general, I take issue with adding a prototype, hand-built once, awful example of firearms design into the game for general use because it’s ahistorical and objectively bad as a firearm.
The Beretta M1918/30 isn’t french, so I’m confused why you’ve mentioned it in this context, but it was also semi-automatic only, which would make it a good choice for an infantry weapon if it were used by the germans or italians more than it was in Argentina.
I’m definitely on team “No full auto for basic troops, please.” M2 Carbine should be an assaulter choice like the MP43, FG42 should be a Gunner weapon as it was historically (and it would be a damn good one, lighter, more accurate, makes the squad more effective without seeing the weapon spammed.)
Not entirely, but do you honestly not see how an enemy infantry squad with as many as 8 Fg42s defending the point put you at a disadvantage trying to carry a team to victory when they wouldn’t PTFO?
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m not complaining that the FG42 is imbalanced because it wins games by itself. It does, however, imbalance the average infantry engagement. The best infantry squad armed with all automatic weapons the allies can build is 8x M2 carbine and 1x BAR or Thompson. Axis can sling 8x FG42, including the sniper rifle if they chose that, and 1x Mp43 or MG42. These squads basically wash at close range, but the Axis squad has a decided advantage in accuracy, recoil management, and damage output outside of CQC, all because the FG42 is a troops choice.
Move M2 to assaulters, FG42 to gunners, and it looks more like 8x Garand 1x Thompson or Bar, vs 8x g43 1x Mp43 or Mg34/42/Fg42, which looks excellently balanced. It’s not the only balance issue in normandy that needs addressed, the tanks are a mess (jumbo and panther are both mistakes) and the planes wouldn’t be so bad if the FW190 wasn’t a pile of bugs, but those other issues are off topic.
I truly believe M2 is better than FG42, but what can I know, I only have maxed AXIS *and 29 lvl usa.

I honestly still think my idea for using a valuation system for squads would be the antidote right now and help alleviate the never ending arms race that is happening.
It would help Hard Cap squads to weapons regard of the classes inside of them.
All that aside, all this conjecture means SFA until we get the Telemetry for the weapons and the Meta Data.

This one is possible, but not guaranteed. Here we see the stats for the weapons before upgrades:
The FG42 has less vertical recoil, more horizontal, lower full-auto RoF, and more Damage per Shot. It takes two in CQC to kill with the M2, only one with the FG, and the M2 has its original ridiculous recoil animation, making the actual vertical recoil of 50 only important for the first couple of shots before you lose any sense of what’s going on in front of the weapon.
I mostly agree that the BAR is situationally better than the FG42 in certain circumstances since they nerfed the 42s recoil, but you still can’t give a BAR to everyone.
Please, stop acting insulted because I disagree with you. We have different experiences, your mileage may vary and all that. Based on the numbers and my own experience, I disagree with your outlook and think the FG42 needs restricted to gunners. Acting offended and defensive isn’t going to change my mind.
If at close range you hit the leg or arm 1 time (which happens often), then fg will kill with 2 shots, just like m2
And the M2 takes three if you hit a limb first, and both kill in one to the head. What’s your point?
