No offense but Enlisted if full of quitters, not even metaphorically but literally. I’ve just finished my 6th match in a row in this game doing a campaign circuit (Playing every faction, every campaign, 2 rounds per faction etc.) where players just quit in droves because they’re not winning by a landslide. There seriously needs to be some sort of incentive that would reward players to stay in matches and fight them to the end. The “rank punishment for desertion” isn’t the answer, that’s for sure.
Hell better yet, give the XP gained from the deserters to the players that stayed in the match till defeat.
You don’t like a certain map or gamemode and you leave? someone else won’t like your map and gamemod and will leave. Vicious circle. Probably own choice of map and gamemod will not be available because it will divide the community too much again, so either there will be penalties or rewards, I shoot that players won’t give a shit about rewards and the problem will go on forever, because how to force players to play a casual game.
I think he is talking about quitters that have been in the match for up to half the game, but can smell a potential loss coming so they bail.
that’s a different breed. they need PVE.
Basically if you quit after being in the battle for 5 mins or more, you have missed your window for leaving for reasons like not liking the map or mode. Shouldn’t get any xp.
I only think of quitting when the match keeps dragging on when it’s just a push between points back and forth and each team only loses the troops that they regain each cap and both bars effectively don’t move.
Had a 1.5 hour match once. Never again, only stayed because I happened to have an XP booster.
I personally don’t mind losing. Worst case scenario, a losing team leaves great CAS opportunities to rack up high scores myself. No one blowing up tanks or effectively taking out hordes of enemy troops means more fruit for my Stuka without people picking them off before me.
I wouldn’t want people to be punished for leaving though, then the game will start to be more like War Thunder where you get punished for playing. Perhaps give people 0 xp instead of 0.7 times what they earned?
Or lock their faction until the round is complete. Perhaps that is a bit crap because I also sometimes drop out due to disconnects.
I would say it’s a mixture of connection server issues bad maps and stack and deaf stack And I think AA guns are still broken And it needs to be a better incentive to fight to the bitter end it’s honestly faster to leave the match and find another one to level up
In the new progression update, if I see any moroccans on Pacific immediate leave, if I see KT in Moscow immediate leave… I am one of the few who likes a challenge and doesn’t ever leave a game, testament to that is my 2hr 20m confrontation battle, that was dedication.
But I always play Tunisia axis even though, out matched against allies, I dont quit for unbalance, I try use my max level gear and premiums to help re-tip the balance…
Just didn’t wanna do arnoured train escort and a conquest on a different map, only had time for a couple of games and didn’t feel like playing things that were likely to be no fun.
After giving it much thought, it’s obvious ppl need incentives to remain in an unfavorable match.
However, it should NEVER be punitive in nature, like some may think, because it wouldn’t solve anything and potentially harm the game long term.
The kind of player we wish to sway in favour of staying in unpleasant matchs, are exactly those guys who leave after 2-3 minutes when they realize the match is a lost cause. Not those like me who leave in the first 30 seconds (because we will keep leaving no mather what due to various reasons/preferences.)
This kind of player, is generally on the fence about desertion. Not certain if it’s worthwhile or not to continue. A GARANTEED certainty I can give you, is if there’s greater punishment for them… they will simply desert EARLIER, FASTER. Indeed why would they even risk it? Those guys will wanna make certain they’re in the winning side all the time and leave at the first difficulty. Making the desertion problem much worse.
Instead, if they have a POSITIVE reason to stay (and get abused), then those same players on the fence… will stay. Because even if they lose a match, they won’t waste precious time, or xp fighting for the sole entertainment of those stomping on them.
“Doubling the penalty” is a bad idea, sorry @Chickydoodles . It won’t solve anything. Giving all xp of those mid game leaver away to those who stay is also a bad idea @2455477 , even if I see the merit to it: Those who would benefit are already staying anyway, and those losing mid game xp will just all desert in the beginning instead.
