Thoughts on the premium squads

Agreed for the most part. My proposition would be to make them more cosmetic, aka let the normal players be able to unlock the PPK/MP41 but with a diffrent skin. Additionally, we need a perk rework to make these squads less overpowered.

I completely agree with all of this. The premium squads being almost cosmetic is needed. For instance if the add a battle of France front a premium squad could be the 6th Panzer division with a 5 star crew but needs to leveled out to be effective

they are pay to win

The premium troops are at the maximum level, in this respect they are also superior to the 1 or 2 star troops.

I don’t like where this is going already.
The ability to have a full squad of assaulters with 35% health perks and weapons that are objectively better (MP-41 is superior in recoil parameters and single fire) reminds me of early war thunder ground forces when the T-34 Prototype sat at BR 2.0 (even lower than T-34 1940) for a good while.
This might get complicated in the future, given that MP-41 is as advanced as it gets in 1941 and I don’t think they will be adding STG-44’s to Barbarossa to ‘‘counter’’ the powercreep.
While we are at the topic of rewards and exclusives, weren’t the alpha testers rewarded with a TU-2 bomber in War Thunder?

I agree, that perks require rework (and surprisingly enough, its not off topic here), not quite because of the perks that RNG gives to regular soldiers (I mean yeah, over time there would be few Ivans or Fritzs who would be chads enough to require more shots, but far from enough to change outcome of entire battle, while RNG is nowhere near random, thus the chance is small) , but because they are too dangerously intertwined with premium squads (pretty much overriding need for RNG and possibly getting best of the best perks right on spot… and you have at least 4 of them)

Even if these perks weren’t the best of the best - you get like 5 perk re-roll points per soldier on the prem squad to select your fav perks.

I paid that DLC, and I find this game boring because of the veteran’s extreme OP guns. Only a super squad wont give you anything. And to get a proper squad/role/weapon progression, you have to use the original squad, and those squad just fked by those veterans. Only 1/4 of time you can use that super squad, but rest 3/4 time, you will be fked.

They only come with 1 explosive per person, and normal squad can also do this. And getting explosives are hard from logistics, you have to leave many to your rest 2 infantry squads.
You only able to control 1 man in one time, rest of squad is useless. Bots just waste my SMG’s bullets. In most cases, the man you controlled will be the only one left for the rest of this squad. Having multiple squads having SMG or better weapons is more important than this super squad.

Except that’s not true. The veteran soldiers have much better AI than default soldiers, including the ability to take out downed players. Sure they die faster but that is the case with all soldiers. These guys at least get a handful of kills, or more, compared to 0 on default soldiers.

You can use it 1/3rd of the time as the respawn cycle is 2 deaths per spawn.
Every player will have one or more squads without automatics that will “get fucked” until they have both the premium squad, SMG and LMG squads. Again, only possible if you actually have the prem squad.

However, not at all in my previous matches. To make bots actually kill some one, you have to hide them and let them snip, not for CQC. Bots are always useless and only for a instant mobile respawn point.

So, this super squad is just make starting stage more easy for new players to fight against veterans. But still more weak than veterans’ squad.
If you want to say this game is just designed to be newcomers’ nightmare, and do give them any chance to fight against older players, no rank related matchmaking system, and no new players’ protection/advantage, and also game lacks depth and attractions for new players. At least RO2, a well known WW2 FPS with extreme unfriendly to new players, has more content to explore and has single player mode.

well, veteran’s, which i assume you mean experienced players, cannot be compared to the squad you actually get.

because we don’t get the same ammount of content nor we will ever be able to reach the same stuff that you get by this dlc that you bought.
which makes the game harder for everyone that didn’t bought the DLC.

you get smgs at 3 stars right on the bath,
when in perspective of a normal player it’s gonna take him, at least 3 days of game just to get a 3 star smg for only one guy.
best perks of the game while skipping the randomic perks selector, skipping the experience you have to make with each individual soldiers, and last but not least, skipping also the Level of the soldiers. meanings that you get veterans. and to farm veterans, you need entire months of " grind ".
not to mention, there are no squads in the game that has the ability to use 7 assaulters like the dlc one.

i do agree with you on this one.
doesn’t make much sense.

it depends from how you play with those squads. don’t expect to be a tank on foot. if you charge, most likely you are gonna die. so use tactics, covers, buildings and stay with your squad.

again, it really depends how someone plays.

in conclusion, the dlc it’s not balanced at all.
you can’t really complain about " veterans " when we got a wipe less than 1 week ago.
as it’s really hard to deal with those new squads.

cheers.

There’s definitely something wrong with the power of these squads. I’d say that the easiest solution is to make it a cosmetic squad that starts with a few untrained 4 or 5-star blokes in it. Alternatively, add in a system to make them start out as regular assaulters, and then have them upgrade to veteran assaulters once they reach 5.

There’s plenty of ways around it all. Give them the fun toys once they reach their absolute peak, make them bog standard and average until then. If people want overpowered stuff, then they should be prepared to put in effort to get it.

They have a double xp weekends, which at least can get a decent progression, lv8~9 is enough. But lv1~3 is weak like s**t. And new players dosent know how to play this game. Money for less pain in starting stage isnt unfair?

Well this is the typical post-2016 war thunder monetization tactic.
They release premium content that is superior to normal/free content and then nerf it after enough sales have been achieved.

Exactly why we shouldnt put up with this while the game is in its early stages.

As of now the premium squads cost $30 usd each, thats the same price as 2 other WW2 games it competes with, Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose. It isnt like war thunder where the nearest competition is World of tanks/Warplanes/Warships, their are quite a few good WW2 shooters that Enlisted competes with, and if the devs allow their premium squads to be P2W squads when this game goes public, I can see PC players just leaving the game in favor of one of the other WW2 shooters on PC.
