Things that should be in the game (in my opinion) - Disscusion

Before starting I would like to clarify that I’m a big fan of historical details and atmosphere, but also I don’t think that historical accuracy = essential content for a game to be fun. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter and I understand that. Credit for the extensive customization options list, that I have used screenshots from - ErikaKalkbrenner

1.Customization system
-After the merge it’s meaningless to divide the system into ,campaigns’’ - I think that it’s more simple to divide it into climates : Tropical, Subtropical (Tunisia-Pacific), Temperate normal (Normandy-Berlin) and Temperate winter (Bulge-Moscow-Stalingrad-Rzhev).
-Approaches to historical accuracy
a)Historical approach - customization based on divisions (and specialists - a medic is a medic in every squad; an assaulter squad in an infantry division appears to be infantry,…). As a whole - tries to mimic standardized uniform - only Waffen SS get most of the camouflagues in germany’s case. Most german uniforms should look like this. Some accurate options are already in the game files like:
USMC uniform:
USMC Cap
USMC Camo Tunic 1
USMC Camo Tunic 2
This fits the USMC cap.
German detailed options
This looks like it should be in the game but it isn't
Luftwaffe Cap

Nice peaked cap variants, honestly surprised that there is Kriegsmarine version - do they plan to add navy content. The Luftwaffe peaked cap would be awesome for fighter pilots.

Detailed Side Cap
Brown Peaked Cap
Luftwaffe Peaked Cap
Kriegsmarine Peaked Cap

In the game only the helmet with this pattern is available for some reason.

Brown dot camo tunic
Brown dot camo pants
Soviet detailed options
Soviet infantry side cap
Soviet air tunic

If you want to see more. I’m not sure if there is a more recent version.
I had a special discussion on missing customization options.
b)Sandbox approach - every soldier has every customization option available to his faction.

c)Current - mixed between the two and very chaotic

-In both options I would like awards, rank and specialist/division badges and insignia to be displayed. Would be nice to add premium customization too (especially for the sandbox approach)
-Nice additional details:
a)Changing the appearance of ammunition pouches according to the main and side weapons
b)Accurate display of melee weapons (swords/sabres, axes, shovel and knifes)
c)Accurate display of pistol holster (if pistol is equiped)
d)Accurate display of other equipment - grenades, binoculars, flasks and mines
-Updating and fixing:
a)Japanese customization from three to four piece customization
b)U.S. faces (difference from european to all other campaigns)
c)British faces (before and after merge (Bulge)) simultaneously displayed - new british squads have the new british faces
d)British pilots having U.S. uniforms in Normandy and Pacific
-Customization and rename orders to cease to exist (most other orders were removed in the merge). Personally I think customization orders should cost 5 or 15 silver if they cost anything at all ((same applies to vehicle camouflage) appearance is meaningless in such a fast-paced game, even camouflage makes a little difference in battle).
-Default vehicle appearance changing - tanks in winter are white, in desert are sand-coloured, in spring/autumn are grey/green.
2.Future of Enlisted - two main paths (that seem realistic to me)
-War Thunder path - ungodly amount of premium/event content, historical vehicles and weapons in unhistorical context (mainly), extensive use of incredibly rare, prototype weapons/vehicles. I would like to say that I haven’t played War Thunder, but from what I have seen I think it’s partly accurate - historical and realistic vehicles in fictional context. I thin this path is the most probable.
-The unhealthy realistic shooter - ultra visual enhancements, looks like bodycam footage, every little single historical detail is displayed, 1-3 shots of life, everything that isn’t infantry is overpowered. Has too much customization to choose from (mostly from DLC’s).

In both paths it’s very most for us, the playerbase to get finally divided factions:
Axis-> Germany, Italy
(most likely in the future also Finland, Romania, Hungary,…)
Allies → U.S.A. , Commonwealth
(dividing into Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, British Raj) (in the near future France, and I hope for Gaijin to add also Poland and China)
I can’t wait for a Battle of Shanghai battle or even a campaign.
Japanese_Special_Naval_Landing_Forces_in_Battle_of_Shanghai_1937
Honestly the japanese deserve gas masks.
A_Chinese_squad_deployed_outside_Shanghai
Same applies to the NRA.

88th division will be awesome with these arm badges:
88D_-NRA_88th_Division(German_trained_division).svg

Poland also will be nice.
Who wouldn’t want to wear these:

Additionally a new campaign idea - the polish will both fight with Germany and USSR.

3.Matchmaking and gameplay - don’t have anything to say, now that the matchmaking is updated.

This is my biggest post yet.
I would like to know your opinions on the matter.

glad my list could be of use to fellow members other than modders

couldn’t agree more

this however, i’m opposed to it.

for few reasons;

  1. not everyone has pre merge squads. meaning that for example, all luftwaffe units would be unobtainable for those who didn’t previously obtained those

  2. you would piss off alot of people by suddendly changing their cosmetics from their own squads.
because if for example, if people had lots of pea dot camouflage on regular italian or luftwaffe units, in theory this would remove such options from their squads.

but, it does with one positive,

having squads oriented cosmetics would simply by a whole lot developers work on the customization.

because you wouldn’t have to go over 200+ squads.

however, i’m not sure the benefits outclass the cons.

and in my opinion,
cosmetics should be pretty much available to all squads ( somewhat, " similar " to now for example, with ussr on stalingrad. same as GE, or normandy for the allies )

the other issue is,

this… i’m not entirely sure will ever happen.

because customization is based on squads and not actual soldiers.
counter intuitive, but as i have been explained,

each squads has their own sets, and for example, many premium squads lack options unlike TT squads.

i do prefer such system because it then allows everyone to run with whatever they want. ( with exceptions such as premium ghillies, leibermuster camouflage, or premium pieces )
and they don’t have to depend on having said squad or not.

imo, the allies customization is one among the best ( not… the best, but closely ) because you can wear paratrooper gear, pathfinders, rifleman, m41s, m43s, and even m44s in some occasions.

now, because of the merge, i do think years shouldn’t matter.

because for example, in german case, camouflaged were pretty much used through out the war.
same as ussr ( yet, you can’t use a splintermuster or amebas camos over moscow… nor stalingrad )

and on and on.

this would only work for US,

since they were the only one with patch insignias over their shoulder. which were a thing in the game too.
before getting removed for no reason.

image

for germany would be shoulder ranks,

ussr and japan i think would be collar tabs.

but creating a new texture just for the collars to make them indipendent like they did for the soviets, i’m not sure they would go for that extent either.

as for the rest below, all pretty much agree.

not sure what you are going with this

eh. not enough content to make it past br II
unless you want to make it like china. where it has a bit of pretty much everything from other nations

This cap kinda reminds me of this from star wars:
OIP (7)

That because the empire in Star Wars was astheticaly inspired by WW2 Germany.
