Why am I making this poll?
If you’re present on this forum for a long time, you will know about almost never ending fights regarding tanks. To know what community wants, I will make a poll and put all the important questions.
Let’s see all the confirmed tanks!
I couldn’t find pictures but confirmed tanks for Berlin are:
T-34/85, Panther, King Tiger and IS-2
Now when you saw all the tanks, let’s jump to the poll. We start with nation-by-nation
1. USSR
Would you like to see t-35 in Moscow campaign? This tank has 3 turrets but also very weak armour, high profile and terrible engine. It will most likely be weak to infantry up-close
[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Add it
Add it only if we get more open maps
Don’t add it. It will be too weak
Don’t add it. It will be too strong
I don’t know
[/poll]
Should we get more versions of the already present t-28 tank?
[poll name=poll2 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
No
I don’t know
[/poll] Would you like to see soviet tank destroyers like ZiS-30?
[poll name=poll3 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
Yes, but only if we get more open maps
No, it will be too hard to play with it
No, it will be too strong
[/poll] Let’s talk about bigger bois. Tcat already made a poll about the t-34 tank
see picture here: I will make the same thing but with KV-1/2 tanks. Some players think it’s too strong and some think it will be worse than the t-34 due to slow speed If big soviet tanks get added, how will you balance them?
[poll name=poll5 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Add in limited numbers (1-2 can be spawned per invasion match)
Add without limits
Add with limited ammo supply
Balance them in other ways
[/poll]
If all those big tanks get added, what AT weapon will you give to Axis
[poll name=poll7 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Flak 88
Tank destroyes (see the polls bellow)
More tanks (also see the polls bellow)
Other
[/poll]
Now for KV-1
[poll name=poll4 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Add KV-1
Add KV-1 with limitations (like unreliable engine)
Don’t add KV-1
[/poll] What about the KV-2 (1939)? This tank has a very strong gun and armour but also very slow and big turret, extremely bad mobility, reloads every 40 seconds, has no machine guns and is full of malfunctions. That’s why some players think it will be more of a meme tank than actual main battle tank
[poll name=poll6 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Add KV-2
Add KV-2 with limitations (like unreliable engine and turret)
KV-2 will be too strong
KV-2 will be too weak
[/poll]
2. Germany
Tcat also made a poll about the Pz38 tank, see picture here: I will make a poll about other Panzers:
If heavier Soviet tanks get added, would you like to see Pz-3L main battle tank?
Just remember that there is not a lot of evidence that this tank was ever used in Moscow
[poll name=poll8 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Add it
Don’t add it, let’s stay historically accurate
Don’t add it, let’s keep the asymmetrical balance
I don’t know
[/poll] If heavier soviet tanks get added, would you like to see HEAT shells for Pz-4?
[poll name=poll9 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
Yes, but only 5-10 shells per tank
No
Other
[/poll] Would you like to see Marder 3 tank destroyers in Moscow?
[poll name=poll10 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
Yes but only if we get more open maps
No, it will be too weak
No, it will be too strong
[/poll] Would you like to see Half-track tank destroyers?
[poll name=poll11 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
No
I don’t know
[/poll] Would you like to see Panther tanks in Normandy?
[poll name=poll12 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
Yes but only if we get better tank destroyers for USA
No
I don’t know
[/poll]
3. USA
Would you like to see M18 in Normandy?
[poll name=poll13 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
No
No, it will be too damn fast
Yes, it can counter stronger German tanks
I don’t know
[/poll] Would you like to see other shermans in Normandy?
[poll name=poll14 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
No
[/poll] Would you like to see LVT tanks that can spawn in water early match?
[poll name=poll15 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Yes
No
I don’t know
[/poll]
4. Other
TNT pack is unrealistically strong, what’s your opinion?
[poll name=poll16 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Keep it as is
Nerf it and make Molotovs more deadlier against tanks
Nerf it and add AT grenades
Nerf it and buff Molotovs and also add AT grenades
To clarify specific models:
T-34-85 (5.7 variant in war thunder)
Panther A (5.7 variant)
IS-2 1944 (6.3 variant)
Tiger 2P (6.3 variant)
And note that the Moscow campaign tanks are not confirmed to be back, community creators simply have all of the old stuff that’s still in the files. Not that this makes it impossible or whatever for them to return, saying that they are confirmed would be a lie.
Also some polls might need more varied options. Please add an “other” to EVERY poll. For example, I would have voted other for KV2 because while I don’t think it would be too strong, I think it would be too obnoxious as it quite frankly would be invincible.
And add an option for historical accuracy for T-35 as only one was ever used in Moscow.
I’m not sure it was even used there. I vote for not adding it due to historical accuracy.
I don’t think that bringing limit of only 1-2 heavy tanks per match is a good idea and can lead to abusing of that mechanic. What if someone decides to troll and ruin the whole match by getting his tank destroyed and waste the use of heavy tank. In my opinion they should be balanced by their characteristics and possibility for the enemy team to counter them.
I personally think that KV2 might be better idea than KV1, that could be absolute unit and destroy anything on its way. KV2 with its massive HE shells would be very deady, but counterable due to the very long reload, slow turret and overall bad mobility. It shouldn’t be main battle tanks, because it wasn’t supposed to. It was meant to destroy fortifications.
Germans could get their own counterparts - self propelled artillery - better mobility, faster reload, much weaker armour.
Definetly, many variants of half-tracks are more than welcome.
It could work, but like in the case of KV1 - it should be counterable. I think that US should get much more plane firepower to get air domination (of course first the problem with blind pilots must be resolved)
Only to have basically everyone own it, and then use it because it would probably be the best tank in the campaign due to the ammount of guns. So you could see more than one per match
And also limiting usage by X per match is trash because the game uses ALPHABETICAL PRIORITY when two people want to spawn in the same thing (for example planes), even if one player clicked spawn much faster as the other, if the other has a higher priority thanks to their username, (A being higher than B), they get the spawn. Figured that one out due to my username starting with a low priority.
I did where ther is a vote “no” - but most of the "no options have conditions - too strong, too weak, balance this, balance that - there’s mostly not a simple “No” like there is a “yes”
I’m in favor of reducing the TNT’s capacity to take out tanks, (though it should have a larger shock wave than a regular grenade) but in exchange adding magnetic anti-tank mines. The wehrmacht widely used Hafthohlladung mines that could be attached manually to a tank’s metal surface regardless of angle, and could easily penetrate 140 mm of rolled homogeneous armor.
They were somewhat more dangerous than grenades and explosives as it would require running to the enemy tank and placing the mine directly on it, which would expose the soldier doing the job to potential enemy fire.
I am unware if the allies and soviets used any type of similar magnetic mines, though online sources I’ve found seem to imply they didn’t. However the germans did apply Zimmerit coating over some of their tanks to make them immune to magnetic mines out of fear that the device would be copied.
War thunder has several such vehicles coated in zimmerit, though it is only aesthetic as war thunder doesn’t have magnetic mines; but seeing as enlisted uses a lot of assets from war thunder, perhaps that zimmerit coating model could finally be put to good use.
Alternatively skip zimmerit coated vehicles but make the magnetic mines german-only for the sake of historical accuracy and asymmetrical balance, but give the other factions other ways of dealing with tanks in a similar manner, in order to avoid the anti-tank rifles being the only way to deal with tanks after TNT nerf.
Don’t forget that the T-35 is the ultimate clown car.
It doesn’t matter how thin the armor is if it has more crew members than you have ammo.
Not to mention you would have to actually crew it. Just by that it should be a rule of thumb not to add tanks with a crew greater than 7.
I really don’t think any of these tanks need to be added regardless.
Are you sure it penetrates 140mm because that’s A LOT for an early war explosive
Maybe it was used in late war because I know all nations in 1941, even Germany had troubles making a light anti-tank weapon
Anyways, I will do some research and then come up with results because I’m unsure anything in 1941 other than tank destroyers could penetrate 140mm of armour if the late war panzerfaust had 130-200mm of penetration
Maybe late war variants had 140mm penetration
or
This weapon was maybe rare so it didn’t effect the battlefield
