I already voted in both polls. I’m okay with the shields IF germans get another buff on the mg.
Otherwise my opinion is still that I prefer both on sandbag walls.

I would make it have less recoil in first 10 shots (lets say) and next shots have much more recoil.
It’s caused by fact that recoil absorption mechanism is a spring, it has a limit how much it can stretch. After reaching max point all recoil is transfered into tripod.
Ordinary tripod would be just covered in sandbags so it stays still, I don’t think germans did that with lafette so that’s where more recoil would come from.

The devs could have the mount height and elevation angles depend on whether you build it while standing, crouching or prone, giving it more flexibility.

Imo, the “universal MG” should be inferior in the dedicated mounted MG role compared to the other MGs, but be more flexible

Problem is that currently german MGs are universal only by name.
There is no flexibility you wrote abbout, either you have LMG or HMG, just like other nations, nothing between, no transformation.
Unless we will have Lafette mount as item soldiers can carry as I’ve suggested many times. Than we would have flexibility.

no need. Just let it have smaller profile if built when lying down, then normal when built crouched, then AA position with extra elevation angles but being more exposed when built while standing.

It was not what I wrote about.
You wrote about positioning. I meant lack of flexibility, key feature of german MGs.

Although I like the idea a lot, I can’t help but recall that a lot of the times I build an MG nest I’m kind of forced to do so crouched or laying down in order to avoid getting shot in this time where I’m vulnerable for the entire time it takes to build an mg nest.

Perhaps the option should be in the menu, or make it adjustable right before building it.

You’d only have to place the initial mount while standing/crouched/lying, the actual construction would be doable from whatever position. And if you need cover, it is unlikely you’d build the most exposed variant anyways

That would imply you have the mount, as the current suggestion is only for the engineer. I doubt the devs would be able to do a quick change the mount code wise, as that’s pretty complex.

I figured out it would be the fastest option to manage this. As for me main feature of MG on lafette should be speed.

Engeneer have MG on lafette BUT:

  • it can be “upgraded” to add more protection
  • it has more recoil control
  • maybe sights
    etc. I don’t want to repeat myself too much.
