As I see more and more people that want more complex command system, I decided to dust off my really old idea that was never brought to light.
It’s rather simple: player would have map of the nearest area and could use it to command his squad similarly to RTS games. He could do things like ordering single soldiers to move to certain positions etc. It may also have more complex commands (as it’s main point of this idea) like for example building AT gun by AI.
Obvious downside would be inability to shoot (as you have to use map somehow) so it’s not sth you would use during the gunfight.
Take note: this idea is not even work in progress, it’s “work in stasis”. There may be many things I didn’t thought about, feel free to give your solutions.

Yes also would like to see increased orders regards the squad, a simple command added to the wheel such as Formation : line, column, wedge, diamond, and using the available wide/tight.
I don’t think you would ever use formations other than line and column tbh.
wedge or diamond would at least allow you some control of positioning your squad for either movement or defense rather than just clustering around you as they tend to do at the moment.
Line would have the same effect.
As far as I know, wedge and diamond formations are purely pop culture formations that were never used historically, not even mentioning WW2.
we used wedge and diamond formations for movement in the Light Infantry?
The wedge formation and diamond were used by the panzer corp during WWII in fact it was heavily employed by the Germans at Kursk, Tigers at point with lighter tanks to left and right wedge formation.
Good to know. My mistake.
