More detailed discussion on heavy weapons, scene effects, building damage and balance

Sorry, I posted a post about adding heavy weapons yesterday. I think I’m a little impulsive. I’m too aggressive and a little out of touch. Now I’ll rearrange my thoughts and hope everyone can discuss them friendly.
I like this game very much, so I have high requirements for it. Compared with battlefield 5, I prefer the battlefield atmosphere and playing method of Enlisted (there is no mess of LGBT, and there is a Soviet war!).

But it is undeniable that our game lacks scene destruction. According to my understanding of game development, it is not technically difficult to achieve the scene destruction effect, just set cracks and trigger conditions on the building model. I know this is a heavy job, so I hope to achieve this after the beta test of the game.
On the issue of heavy weapons. I know that as infantry, you hate too many explosions. So, how about making some restrictions on the basis of what I said yesterday? The naval gun takes a long time to load? Very scattered? And will points be deducted for killing friendly forces?
I think we can also appropriately reduce the screen shaking caused by the explosion - lying down can reduce this shaking? And, let AI be smarter and learn to avoid bombs.
I reviewed a year 2009 CoD(Yeah, COD5,the one had east front) yesterday and was sad to find that the AI action in it is more smooth and realistic than that of enlisted, and it will use rockets, flame throwers and tank killers. Our AI needs to be stronger! This doesn’t mean that they should aim as fast as cheaters, but be smarter - they can use panzerfaust and piat to attack tanks, use grenadess, etc. -
of course, in order to balance, you can let them throw grenades inaccurately, or it takes a long time to aim at tanks.
About artillery… I think it’s interesting to add some artillery (howitzers, large caliber anti-aircraft guns, etc.) to the game. For balance, you can make the howitzer take a long time to build: how about 30 seconds? Aiming is inconvenient and fragile: imagine that when you build a howitzer and plan to bomb everywhere,
but in a moment, your howitzer is destroyed by the anti tank gun, iron fist, explosive bag or something on the opposite side. Do you still think it is a great threat? Or, you can use some advanced skills only by killing many people in the game. I think it’s fair.
At least, if construction is not allowed, a small amount can be placed in the map as a fixed fortification… At least let’s use it in mod map! I also hope to add more war thunder vehicles, which can be used in the mod editor.
About the battlefield atmosphere… The anti-aircraft gun tracer as the background in the game is a little monotonous. How about generating some AA black fragments of clouds in the sky? It will also be interesting to add more smoke and flame effects.
I want to choose whether to apply or not in the setting? In this way, both players who like the real battlefield atmosphere and players who don’t like it can be satisfied.

For players’ new ideas, I think we can create a “test server” or “test mode” to test players’ attitudes and views on these changes.
I hope players’ suggestions are valued! I also hope the game can become better and attract more players!

When making a long post please do more paragraphs, aka press “enter” more

It hurts reading a mess, and can often loose the sentance

OK. Added more enters

We actually need some effects like bombers flying somewhere in the sky (lowpoly ones without any AI, just an effect) and explosions of AA shells randomly appearing in the sky.

They were asked about that many times. As I remember, they said that it often turned battlefield into a flat open map without any actual covers.

Yeah. We need at least all popular ww2/cold war vehicles like M26 or IS-3.

This is just an excuse for their laziness. Some covers can be reserved for scene destruction. For example, the second floor of the house collapsed, but the first floor was still (in ruins)

They already have destructible walls in normandy. I guess that’s not hard, but there are other reasons.

Plus, having one parts of building destructible and others not will look even worse imo.

I think some limited destruction would be good. Maybe blow a hole in the wall or roof, but dont allow to bring the entire house down

Didnt the soviets use a mortar to get into the reichstag? That would be a cool detail foe when finally that map comes out

At least they can try (maybe in the mod editor) so that players can make suggestions for improvement. If they don’t do it at all, it will be worse

Yeah, at least that’s better than nothing happens when exploding

That’s what I think! I tried to simulate the explosion of AA shells with explosives, or artificially add background bombers, but failed.

That would be a good thing for some maps.

Ofc they can. But I guess they’ll be trying only if they decided to surely add that into the game.

If game developers want to attract people through mod, I think they must add more functions. Many functions I think of are either impossible or difficult to achieve at present

Do you think this idea is good? The current AI is a little stupid for me

Unironically talked with keo about that. He said that technically, this is one of the dev tools, so functions are being added if devs need them there.

Oh, thank you very much! Does he have a plan for the next “Q&A” or editor function update?

You can meet him playing customs, so why don’t you ask him yourself?

OK. I will send him a private message and put the reply on this post(if fortunately he replies )
@1942786 pls,keo :wink:

I tried. Keo seemed to ignore me. :zipper_mouth_face:
