Does the 20% penalty apply if you leave before the match starts???
Well, Desertion Penalties.
Now going to be forcing players to play matches they don’t want to play. Not just talking about maps.
Forcing players to play matches not even the rest of the team is bothering to play in for example.
Or, God forbid, someone knocks on your door, or your cat does something stupid, or any other of the bazillions of reasons you might leave a match mid-match.
Glad having a real life emergency now equals punishment in game, that’s what everyone wanted you to spend development time on, I’m sure. New content, what’s that? Actually decent matchmaking pff yeah right. Fixing Bugs? Never heard of it.
Besides, if you’re a Marshal-stack sweatlord, chances are you’ve probably finished the nation you’re playing as, or are basically there. EXP means jack to them. It’s not going to stop them from quitting a match where they get actual competition, to find a new match with a bunch of noobs to boost their ego on. This isn’t going to do anything to stop professional game hoppers. You know what might? A proper Matchmaking.

When I’m on a map I don’t like I don’t have fun and I end up playing worse.

Is being kicked the same as deserted. then u just wont move for a minute and same result. Not that i care, who needs exp points…, the noobs which you so desperately need. Take away my tanks , my guns and still i will desert whenever i want to, why punish the gamer when the game sucks. what can happen 2 me with 66 four star squads and millions of silver… We fight for freedom not restrictions.

ah yes the war thunder system aka the useless missions system also the penalty system ? bruh are we getting a even worse update than the april fool one? like no one should ve punish for leaving maps like d-day or bulge

Why not have a compromise of allowing people to leave the game after a certain fixed duration, such as 1 minute, so that those who obviously don’t like the map, like Hurtgen Forest or D-Day, are allowed to “pick”? This would also still allow the game to add players into the game at the start. Only con of this issue is whether people are okay with late joining the game by 1 min. There is only 1 people to blame, those who love to nitpick their maps, not allowing themselves to play other maps simply because they hate it. Like just deal with it bro, finish the game fast and q into the next game.
There should also be a grace period given for DCs, as well as only a warning given for first desertion of the day that resets during the standard reset time. This will allow for the occasionally I need to leave for something urgent or other issues like game just crashing or wifi died.

Really disagree with this decision. I think it’s unfair as it punishes players who experience connection issues, which have been happening more frequently as of late. It also punishes players who have an actual need to leave early. I believe to fix the issue you should instead reward consistent play, give an incentive to stay in matches even if they aren’t favorable. At the very least, I would rather this change not be implemented and the status quo maintained.

here is the smart solution for the given situation:
- remove any “desertion penalties”
- add a +20% exp bonus for players who stay until the game is over
→ enjoy thousands of happy customers, gaijin.

Well, there goes my hope of being able to play only in Tunisia (or Stalingrad, though they don’t even have the right uniforms there…) when I want to use my Italians. Or Berlin when I feel like running some matches with my BR 2/3 Volkssturm lineup.
You had only one job, Gaijin, and once again, you manage to screw it up. This is what happens when people who clearly don’t play the game are the ones making decisions.

What a dumb hill to die upon by going full clown show about desertion. Yeah lets punish people more so they just stop playing the game. Why make people stay in a match that is complete ass Only fat stacks like clubbing newb baby seals. Get rid of the penalty, its already a punk ass move. Why do you make people stay in losing matches to be cannon fodder? Dumb move. I hope they learn a valuable lesson for this stupidity. You do not cut off your head to cure a headache. I bet the pushback on this dumbfuckery is massive.

Soon Variety will turn into Variety XXL and USSR will fight vs USA in Moscow/Berlin/Pacific and Germany vs Japan in Tunisia/Normandy. Or it will be even worse and every team will be mix of all nations.
And then they won’t need to pretend like they aren’t adding Enlisted to Warthunder as a new side mode.
And why do the developers think that two premium squads would be a logical decision when we haven’t had event squads for a long time?
Especially since we already had a premium guerrilla bundle. I hope the squads found in the game file will change to the event.

New dev team is not really willing to create free event squads it seems. Last event infantry squad we had in january. It’s already been 6 months since then. It’s beyond just a neglect or laziness it’s a starvation mode.
They are now a real Gaijin and they only know a thing about vehicles so events will be all around vehicles and few weapons (90% are recycled anyway). 1-2 infantry event squads a year it will be the max we will get, so we may get something this summer or nothing and only get something in december.

This means that in addition to the 30% EXP that we already get for deserting, we get another 20% on top in the next 2 rounds. That means 50% less reward.
But it doesn’t occur to you that it’s unfair from the start to have 10 players play against 7 players + 3 bots?
So are you going to a shootout with a knife? Or drive a street race with a car that has 200 hp less than the competition?
That’s your big solution to get the desertion problem under control? With which you want to achieve that less people desert. I’m laughing my ass off the next few weeks months will show it.
I’ll leave out the complete incompetence of the devs to program a proper ki. Sometimes I really wonder how you manage to make the ki so bad that it’s almost skill again.

I don’t play Pacific (in US) and I skip almost every defense (I don’t care about player rating). Despite having a premium account and premium squads I will play on a constant “boost” - 20% (soon).
Participating in many battles is pointless. MM sucks and now I’ll get a -20% penalty… just because of MM “quality”. Funny.
I miss campaigns and Moscow. Now I have to skip a few battles to get Moscow or Tunisia.
I guess I will have to end the adventure with Enlisted like it was with War Thunder.
