Hot take: Enlisted was a better experience a year ago

I was a new player too and did fine. Had enough weapons and enough soldiers. Cant remember that i would be like “fuck sakes cant buy my k98k.” I always had enough. But it is good that the system was improved

It was not a bad system perse, more in combination with the random weapon drop it took a long time to get your loadout and upgrade it.

On the otherside this was also great in the area of gameplay since late game weapons were harder to get. (If you dont bought them with gold, since silver could only be gained trough one time achivments or the battlepass) This would counteract the cancer spamm we have at the moment.

I strongly believe limiting squads to 1-2 assault weapon (squad officer + second in command), 1 MG and 1 AT with everyone else having standard issue rifles would be much better for balance in early war campaigns, with a bit more automatics and semi-autos towards the end of the war.

But FG-42/M2/MKb/AS-44 spam is hurting the game, bolt actions have no place as soon as you you unlock semi-autos.

yeah strong autos like STG MKN Fed FG M2 AVS etc. should get a special squad you only get one of and is small like 4-5 men. While you can bring more of the normal SMGs like the MP 40 or PPD with the normal assaulters.

Wasnt there a Guard STG squad in the Berlin Alpha?

That BA get replaced by SA is more or less historcly correct since they were phased out mostly in favor of SA like the Garand for the US.

that is correct though i believe that FGs, Fed, AVS, AVT should be put into the gunner class while m2c should be put into the assualter class (i’m fine with STG and MKB since they are already restricted).

france had plans to make semi autos standard issue but made mas-36 to arm the army while their semi got accepted into production. USSR also planned on making semi autos standard issue and was in mid transitions before barb happened forcing them to switch to mass production

Also, normandy was much worse in its early days.

Artyspam on empty fields, overpowered bomb spam which killed your whole team again and again (or the enemy one lol). But at least tanking felt better.

The truth is that yes, the bolt-action rifle combats were more immersive, of course ignoring the fact that the map was full of red dots and that if a 250kg bomb fell, it meant the end of humanity, but despite everything that was fun, now the game is in this pointless frenzy of running kill, die, kill, die over and over until the end of the game because there isn’t much of a consequence for dying, not that there is a kill limit that makes you think every play or which squad you decide to use, not to mention the ridiculous use of semi/automatic weapons, maybe if we put limits on things, we’d get that immersion again

Yeah, the USSR made millions of SVTs as well, it would just be cool to keep some BAs until the end and not ditch them all as soon as SAs are unlocked - that’s what Moscow has become now, you barely see any Mosins/K98s if the players are not bots, which is a bit of a shame for iconic value and authenticity.
Maybe some sodier types (e.g. radio/mortar/trooper) could only use BAs.

Or maybe SAs would be designated for ‘elite’ squads only in early war but become standard issue in late war.

you are also forgetting that almost everyone was running and gunning with LMGs

As I mentioned, many changes and improvements have indeed been made for the better of the game. Early LMG use as ARs had to be changed indeed.

i agree on this 100%, due to weapon spammers and tryhards im forced to stop relying on boltactions and other low level guns, and just use the best of the best. and its getting quite tiring when you want to use a kriegsmodell, but then a tryhard with a AVT comes in and empties a entire magazine into you and your teammates.

My exact frustrations.

But idgaf, i still play my BAs

if anything i use sniper BA’s, they deliver a good punch as opposed to semi auto’s, they’re typically inaccurate and i waste more bullets harming the dirt rather than the soldier rushing at me

When I first joined the game (closed Beta), the overall stylistics of the game seemed very promising at the time. I was amazed at the active developer updates, and the response to player feedback. The whole atmosphere, graphics, and general atmosphere of the war was such that, I was absolutely convinced that it would become one of the most competitive WW2 games on the market. It was very motivating, and there was a lot of hype.

However, at a time when the game was being voted free, when the Gold testing period came, when constant updates to the game-play aspects began to decline, and microtransactions began to increase, things turned in a different direction.

And that’s not a bad thing. This is understandable from the developers side. Simply, money comes faster than the urge to change something radically. I can understand that. Now Enlisted is waiting for a destiny where there will be a lot of paid aspects to the game, new content will be greatly forced to open the wallet, and in general there will be a game where only those who open the wallet will get the most candy.

I really spent a lot of money on this game. I think I’ll continue to buy what I think I need because I’m not going to quit this game. It has a certain niche that fills the market. And that fun factor. I’ve just adapted to reality, and I’ll be here until I get tired of this new course of developers going purely into microtransactions. With so many good things the community has already suggested over the time to improve the game, but they continue to be ignored, so just I take those “cool weapons and go puf puf puf”

then there stands out a question … DID players wanted enlisted to be like this ? OR the DEVS ? because i think both are responsible in some way even when many people are obviously against this chaos mod

On top of all that, if we (seasoned players) are having doubts and bad matches, imagine what it’s like for someone who just picked up the game now.
We are complaining that Pz III J1 doesn’t balance T-34 enough, but a new (F2P) player has months upon months of Pz II and Pz III B suffering.
A new player joining Berlin now will be given a K98 Kriegsmodell and MP 3008 and told to defend against vitality-perk AS-44 and PPSh-41 gangs.

I know the author wont read it anyway…

I know that is funny that I am saying this, but people are right and wrong at the same time. It depends much on how long one year is for you.

Wrong.
SF and auto spam was always a thing. Maybe not in Moscow back in the “old” days, but in Normandy and especially in Berlin, even before the Drum PPSh. I mean, iirc they nerfed the ammo size of Sfs in summer 2021, mostly cause people already spammed the FG there. Like others already mentioned, machine guns have been spammed as well until they got nerfed into the ground. People already started to spam the best stuff back there, looking at the Jumbo, the Panzer IV Moscow, the PPD or the MG34. Guns like the TOZ or the ZB or the Madsen or the III B. were rare to face there as well once people unlocked something better. BA rifles were meta in Moscow, but even this trend slowly started to die. I would say that the PPSh was the last nail for the coffin here. And bombs… do we really need to talk about those nukes again?
Historical accuracy was ALWAYS an issue in Enlisted. The Jumbo, the Panzer III B., the M30, the PPD in Berlin, British guns in France without British units, Lanchester, M2C or the BARA1 (not gonna start about the premium squads. That’s another story). This is not new and Df really has to change their website and their advertisement here.
Df themselves did not change much as well. Like… how many times did they announce cool stuff which either never/ rarely occurred or occurred like one year later? The AI? Weather? Movement? SF restriction? Secondly and more important… they already scammed us with the CBTs for Berlin and Tunisia or not always allowing us to not buy the whole bundle but just the squad we actually want (iirc the economy nerf already occurred last year).
Oh, and grind already sucked back in the old days as well.

Right.
Well. They basically continued to drive on the road of meme. Autos are still a thing despite that MGs just got replaced by SMGs, they gave us more powercreep tanks and… there is still questionable historical accuracy. Stalingrad model is imo still the best deal you can get in Enlisted aside from premium and the season pass and even that has been screwed by stupid squads (and skins but I didn’t really care about them). They still dont listen to feedback AS LONG AS its not affecting their profit (looking at the rather fast nerfs fixes whatever of cbs).

I’m neither surprised nor sad here. Enlisted is still hate-love for me and the devs are either dumb and ignorant or masterminds… or both. Good for them that they still have AI and no actual competition (HnG is still about to pass away).

It is also funny to mention that people hate the meta here but e.g. if people propose to introduce the Stalingrad meta to the other campaigns as well, you always have enough plebs who say that this meta sucks and people will camp (they still camp with autos and “noooooo”-FG anyway), even if they never played Stalingrad. Same goes for explosion meta or restriction of autos (albeit it depends here what and how do you want to restrict, let it be classes, guns or whole squads). At this point, you need restrictions…

Or in other words… majority of the playerbase sucks hard and is a good argument against F2P/ fremium games.

Its sad but its probably too late. They couldn’t care less about the game or why its failing. They add more ARs and SFs as p2w premiums, dont fix gun balance, campaigns being non-historical, no movement changes, no tank, plane, rally reforms. Just recycled assets from WT. Sad

I think the community was better during the buy2play phase, which made the game more enjoyable.
