Hot take: Enlisted was a better experience a year ago

Even though quite a few game mechanics have been added and improvements made, I believe the overall experience was better in the early months of OBT.

Moscow was mostly bolt action, with the weapons like PPD box mag and MP-38 actually being powerful and desireable, in tank combat you would constantly see (and even fear) BT-7, T-26, Pz 38t, BA-11 - all those were early war babies by WW2 standards but in Moscow they reigned supreme which felt awesome.

Everyone didn’t have vitality perks and 3 explosive packs on each soldier, there was no constant fantasy MKb-42 and PPSh-41 spam, Terminator-50 camping on the other side of the Quarry, no premium BS like the MG 13/Lewis squads with 0,00001s reload time, there was no possibility no place “cool” decals on your tanks or make crazy customization combinations for your soldiers to “stand out”.

Additionally, the killfeed and scoreboard weren’t filled with ‘marshal’ and ‘general’ stars icons, silly name decorators with fires and bombs, it all looked more serious and even classy.

One of the very first reasons why I got interested in Enisted as a whole was the “basic” and “boots on the ground” feel of defending Moscow with Mosins while wearing mittens an driving shitty little T-26s in a hardcore last stand.

And now, partially due to the general concept of progression in this game (higher level unlock = more powerful), partially due to the devs seemingly trying to milk the vanity and ego of the players by offering all kinds of bells and whistles to be “individual”, partially due to more and more rampant fantasy/paper guns added (AS-44 and Fedorov Berlin, MKb-42 Moscow and Stalingrad) and premiums, the game has been going down the path of higher unlock automatic weapons spam, bolt actions left for bots and hardcore fans, as well as looking more and more like a cheap Chinese mobile game with ☆△ASs44enjoYeR△☆ in the killfeed.

TLDR: early war stuff was deadly and feared, gameplay felt brutal and basic, game looked less cheap without various decorator icons and customization, there were no OP p2w paper guns

No it’s not. Gameplay was definitely better a year ago. Less meta shitters, less cancerous automatic and grenade spam, less highlevel players. Old maps too, I miss them. Balance between sides was also better.

But then I remember planes bombing you from start with old bomb damage, even more brainless bots, etc…

Still it’s more fun to play if nobody really knows how to do it.
Also you weren’t stucking in the floor so often back then.

Still game got insane amount of negative reviews from bloggers even then.

Well, MG30 were still really deadly.

Yeah, that felt much better after all.

It is better now than years ago

While I wasn’t around a year ago, I would say the game was much better when I started and just seemed to progressively get worse over time.
There was a time when I could actually play the game for 2-3hours straight and not ragequit after 2 matches. Unfortunately, that time is long gone.

I must agree that it felt more like ww2 in the early days. Now it feels like it’s ww2 themed.

I couldn’t agree more.

jokes aside, enlisted was better because back than they weren’t thinking about premium content.

but generally, yeah, more buggy. with less content.
which means, less automatic or meta shit fest as now. tanks were somewhat balanced as well.

although, i had much fun back then then now. so… yeah. i can confidently say this as an alpha tester my self.

but, we aren’t the one making this game :woman_shrugging:
( dunno how much would have survived in that state )

How very true you are, and the game used to be laid back and you could afford to engineer a fortress or hide and seek to take down tanks in the PTRD.
Nowadays, the playing environment becomes a one-sided game where you have to secure your base as quickly as possible with your fully automatic high powered weapons and kill the enemy. We are forced to constantly be like the professional gamers in MLG.

I agree with this, besides dispersion everything is better than a year ago.

Gameplay has progressed, but not everyone has full autos, Stalingrad balance changes really have brought back BA, nerfed lmg, just need deployment to be better which they are working on…

Binocs, great! Canteen great, Moveable arty great.
Dispersion must be for balance to stop the spray and pray mindset of players.

I think it is far better now, yes I have premiums, I think people should try out premium before complaining p2w, I also let people try them out, they are not OP, in fact gd order can be more op in some cases.

When premiums were simply funny/original and not 5 lmgpaytowin… why don’t devs listeeeen :worried:

nope.

never have been.

that’s one of the few things that never changed.

actually, prem were alot worse.

when first introduced, you could have made a prem squads of 4 guys up to 7 with lmg / mg with more automatic weapons.

that was the beginning.

Last year’s Enlisted wasn’t exactly a bed of roses or a utopia with various issues like the bots are much dumber when OBT first came along with the exploits like first spawn bombing, infinite arty spamming the point along with some problems like the lack of iconic weapons which were added later and the lack of invasion maps at the time especially on the Spring of 2021 prior to Berlin campaign release.

Atleast back then, the competition wasn’t as crazy as it is now where I don’t have to use my best squads most of the time to carry the team with a much lower average level meaning mostly armed with early-mid level stuff. Its like Moscow used to be a much peaceful winter wonderland campaign but now its just as chaotic as Berlin with the sweat matches.

The early days of Berlin’s release is such a nostalgic experience like nobody has high level weapons yet meaning no FG42s and getting the PPSh with the drum mag at the time is a very rewarding experience for surviving the chaotic beginnings of the campaign. The problem I had at the time was the annoying turret bug which makes shooting Panthers with the 85mm difficult and confusing as made me think the turret wasn’t facing me until it fires.

I wasn’t committing to Normandy much on the early days until later on after spending a significant amount of time in Berlin(exclusively playing Moscow back in Spring of that year) where I get bored and wanted to play a different campaign so went on Normandy but I didn’t fully commit until the MP43 and Panther came out so I don’t remember what happened in Normandy during the Spring. Heard used to be lots of bolt actions too until more people starting to get FG42s and the annoying Jumbo spam.

The game is growing at the current state but there are problems that need to be addressed which some of them are slowly been fixed like the brokenly fast cap times.

i also remember people using LMGs as assault rifles, being spawn camped by aircraft and massed artillery strikes 24/7.

Dont forget the economy at the beginning of OBT were you could only get bronze from completing battletasks without a easy one.

So?

I remember that i managed just fine to get myself enough weapons and equipment. Yes this system is better, but the last one wasnt horrible or bad

That i could not have said better myself.

It a lot more historically accurate, meaning it felt like ww2, with its brutally fast TTK, only guns being bolts, SMGs and LMGs, simple tanks like the PZIIIs and PZIIs, T26s BT7s were the most common.

Planes while being OP were very rewarding and fun to use, now in my opinion some planes (moscow) are just not worth it anymore.

It was just boots on the ground WW2 game, that was more historical than BF or COD.

Remember when this game wasnt so fast paced due to ARs and SFs, so building up a positions with defenses, waiting in an ambush with a PTRD, or dive bombing a tank felt worth it. Now you wont even manage to build up an MG before objective is capped, ambushing tanks is pointless because theyll just stay in gray zone, so wait 10 minutes to get 200xp and get obj capped. And dive bomb that T50 only for a T28E to spawn.

Adding SFs and ARs and brokenly OP tanks like the T50 without changing up the tech tree is what broke this game.

It no longer feels historical. It feels like WW2 chaos mod

It wasnt a problem for players how unlocked most stuff, but for newer playes it was not great to get tasks they could not do because of needing to unlock the requierd weapon.

Yes you unlocked everything relatvlie fast, but at that point a lot of people could have lost there motivation to play.
