Yeah, and APCs were build to follow tanks. So even if it may sound weird, they would fit vehicle based game more.
Not really. Ammo box requires much less effort and still people don’t build them.
So I don’t see why someone would drive an APC from the spawn to deliver ammo. Maybe one or two people really will. But it doesn’t make them usefull. (Unless you concider nagant a good revolver because one or two people use it.)
thats what you said, thay COULD be usefull IF they are used right in the RIGHT circumstance, this sound tedious and It needs a lot of work ti function efficently.
So maps aren’t small because supplies. No matter that they will be destroyed before they get to the battle area or will be hidden too far away to be usefull.
Those supplies we can get in a more convinient way like an ammo box build by engineer or a medbox placed by medic. Yet most of the time people don’t do even that.
My problem is that you suggest an ammo box that is also a TNT magnet and call it a day.
I don’t know how usefull an ammo box with a 20s autodestruction would be but I suppose not a lot.
Smoke gives unique advantages. APC with ammo box on it, doesn’t.
APC with ammo is inconvinient to place, loud, hard to hide, TNT magnet, requires a specialised squad (although that’s not a big deal).
because unlike a crate, i can use it WITHOUT enginner, and i can MOVE IT. ( and has basically many more uses of ammo unlike a box with limited resourches )

the real use it’s how effective can someone use it.
Instead you need a dedicated SQUAD. So I trade one guy to one squad. BAD deal.
Why should I care? Ammo box are dirt cheap.
Great, I can resuply 100 times. It’s a shame that my supply truck is a fireball after a minute so I can’t use this to my advantage.
(Although it will be god tier for mortar spammers.)
i can only see halftracks be remotely useful on tunis campaign. and that would be as mobile rally point or ammo supply point and maybe as mobile AA/MG nest.
other campaigns have simply too small maps with ~80-100m from default infantry spawn and ~150-200m tank spawn. and then rally points can be built ~40m and are more hidden/protected/useful. not to mention that vehicles are funneled into 1-3 corridors with loads of obstacles that can cover infantry, but are not covering vehicles and are just obstacles to them.
so half trucks would be more or less only useful where they can get cover from tanks and are close enough to cap zone where they can actually resupply/rally troops. current maps really dont have that kind of positions. and ammo supply would be only useful for campers or mortar players that dont attack the cap, cause it would be rather stupid to go into cap, shoot your ammo and then go back 40-50meters in back to resupply and then go back into cap instead of taking gun from friendly or enemy dead player.
also with current limited number of vehicle slots i could hardly see anyone taking halftrack instead of tank/plane. people would need minimum 3 slots to even consider taking it, so you can forget about f2p players ever taking it.
would i like halftracks in game? yes. would they be cool? yes. but they are not fitting in current game.
i have to remind you that we used to run with bas despite not being " a good deal " in the first place.

because if you lose your effing enginner, you have someone that brought that halftruck on the field and saved you the time of placing them. time that you could be spending fighting.
again, i really struggle to see or even understand half of those ““problems”” being actual problems.
if you leave it and don’t preserve your toys, then you deserve it.
( like, they can create actual a third limiter based per vehicle types. in this occasion, you can still have all vehicles just with the addition of halftrucks/trucks/cars. so people don’t spam )
Ok, fun factor is definitely in favour of halftracks.
I don’t see how spending time on driving a temporaty ammo crate (as it will be killed quickly) is better than spending less time on building a normal one.
So instead of placing an ammo box and going to the objective, I have to guard my APC with ammo?
Again, ammo box is superior as it’s better concealed, faster to build and nobody gives a fuck about destroying them.
well you cant really make them riders. some of them are decently armored and have MG/AA/AT guns. they are not in the same position as motorcycles where everything is exposed.
