So, I was having a think/ watching some very informative videos regarding Female troops during WW2 and It would be pretty cool to see the representation of female fighters, particularly in the battles for Moscow (Soviet) and Berlin (German Volksturm).
As female combatants were few and far between and to avoid a situation like BF5, they could be done as set campaign rewards or elite soldiers so that their efforts are acknowledged but not so that you can end up with huge numbers of female fighters.
1: new models cost shit tons of money to make, which could be better spend in making the actual models for MAS, FNAB, PIAT etc.
2: the representation of women ingame would be astronomically higher than IRL, where <1% of combatants were female. No matter what you do, even if you limit it to 1 female fighter, 1 out of 21 infantrists is still more than <1 out of 100.
Both are solid enough reasons to “nope” this very hard.
This could work in a very limited view. For instance there could only be a female German soldier if it’s in the Berlin and there can only be one in your entire squad lineup, same thing for the Soviets but it can be in every campaign with the same restriction. But a female soldier for the Americans for British is a no go.
But would it be worth having the artists making all the soldiers, the time of which could be spend to make like 10 new guns instead? On top of the potential different hitbox bullshit
I mean, modifying a model to have female features doesn’t take all that much time/ effort.
But for the “historical accuracy” side, we have MP41s that were mainly used by police units (and not actually issued until 1944), Actual police units, who, as far as I’m aware didn’t get involved in front line combat and a prototype SMG (M2 Hyde) being deployed to frontline units, so that kinda undermines that point. But still, note taken.
I mean I didn’t say that I want them now. They could be something that’s side project that takes a long time. It’s not a make or break for me, it would just be neat to have.
Oh yeah, I’m not saying it’s a high priority!
I’d much rather new weapons/ maps and balancing to come first, but at some point I’d think it would be neat to see this!
Maybe if they add women to be a very rare collectible thing that would only the craziest of players pay real money for.
Also to add that that the only army that allowed Female soldiers to enlist was the red army and no one else. If devs give female snipers only to russians, other country-mains will want them for their countries too which is not historical
But just like other players said, we don’t need another BF5
The only way I see for implementing female soldiers is to make Twitch drop “elite soldier” snipers for Russia. That would automaticaly limit their numbers.
But better not do that. There were to few females in first line fights to implement them without making the game absurd like BFV. Volkssturm in Berlin is no argument, because we will not get proper Volkssturm anyway. That squad won’t be civilians armed with some Panzerfaust - they will have something like VG-5, grenades… Woman spamming your squad with grenades and mowing them with SMG would definetly break immersion and historical accuracy.
I’d stop playing if that happened. There were almost no female fighters in WW2. If this game is historically accurate, then there must be no women fighting in it. There could be resistance fighters. Sure. But not in the forces.
A big no. In my opinion it doesn’t add anything.
No disrespect to those who served, but I’m pretty sure it is even less than 0,5% of all who served on the front were women. Other game developers (COD and BF) tried to push this woman agenda, which failed. They even made things up to get them in. Don’t even begin to enter this road, it just doesn’t work.
( aside from what tcat already answered for the majority )
models, are not the issue as cousine royale (that now has a different name), has female models.
the real issue just like tcat mentioned, it would be historical accuracy. propaganda played a major role and most of the time, being bigger than what it should actually represent in reality.
and lastly, voice actors.
it is debated that soldiers has voice actors rather than few and random voice lines. but still, you have to pay those people. having them always ready when needed for further changes.
it’s not an easy job. and this overhall idea would take away money, time and effort that could be putted elsewhere. and i disagree with others that shouldn’t be a thing. it would disrespect for those few that actually fought for their country and sacrificed their lives for their country.
i don’t personally mind it if wheather it’s going to be a thing or not. but as i said, others priorities comes first.
