Don't close topics for "necroposting"

What’s wrong with replying to a thread 1 month since the latest message?

How is creating a new topic about the same stuff every month better than one single topic?

Isn’t it valuable to look through the discussion and not talk about the exact same arguments in a new topic?

I swear the amount of threads closed for “necroposting” is too damn high.

And it’s not like people revive old threads about outdated stuff like “how do I become a tester of the Tunisia campaign”.

No, most if not all of them are simply topics which were silent for a while and now can be discussed again.

Like best gold order tanks or BR6 topics – why on earth did they get closed?

What’s this obsession with closing topics?

well,

personally, i have no clue.

i too, believe threads should remain open.
especially since… making new one i think would take more space than using already existing things.
but apparently these servers can take tons of data with no issue.

but i could be (mis)remembering that one of the reason, was to avoid " misinformation / outdated info ".

it’s best to ask the ones that does it on a daily @LokalHero or @gastanofrizzi

( no. i’m not implying anything :eyes: )

i mean.

It’s not, mod topic are still relevant because they still have a function to share information, normal topics about X stuff who were present 2 years ago and maybe now removed or modified is not relevant, it’s outdated, and for the second topic, it was a rant/joke no need to revive him

make new thread.

Better, make new threads adding and updating he information

but it wouldn’t cost much to replay to such message with an updated version.

opposed as having to create 40 topics of the same thing just because we can’t reuse older ones.

personally, more than often i find my self having to remake the same thread because it got lost in the either by other people making their own thread which are essentially the same thing, just as a new one.

( which we are literally forced to do )

( and such issue could be detrimental to modding threads ( even though, luckly gets less “overwatched” )

it seems counterproductive to make trilions of threads for the same thing.

doesn’t any of this take space somewhere?

debetable.

( which i cannot debate. because if we dare to question staff decisions, it’s apparently against forum rules and i do not want end up in the shadow realm )

however, felt to me a genuine position based on various factors.

an opinion.

isn’t what this forum is all about?

sharing opinions to improve things?

granted, i do not share the same idea as op.

but there’s ground to discuss. is there not?

Just make all topics automaticly locked ~1week after last post ?

Then again, I dont really understand the logic of “necroposting”
Topic from 2yrs ago thats not relevant to the game anymore, sure lock it.
The example topic that discusses about fantasy of BR5, its still relevant why should they make a new topic about it ?

It don’t was a discussion, by looking at the main post and the following one, was just half ranting about BR5, and mods and other thing, a discussion should objective one something specific and keep be focused on it

Serious Discussions about BR5? Okay just do it without being derailed and without fighting in the post… So it shouldn’t going to be closed

As for @ErikaKalkbrenner

Just read up

Depending on the topic, the info might still be outdated.
What I also see is that in most cases people just either say “I agree” or errr “I dont agree”, which adds no new value to the thread and could have been done with an like instead.

Most people probably already forgot what they said or did in this thread and no one will bother to reread threads, which sometimes have over 100 posts.

Because necro is too goddman high.

Dude just asked in GO thread if someone can update the list. No benefit added and could have been a new thread.
BR6 Necro was pointless as well. Dude just said +1.

Dunno, the suggestion part of allowing all factions to fight each other BR5 doesnt really sound that far fetched.
BR5 after all is pretty much just fantasy.

This don’t make any point, it wasn’t focused on nothing in particular and just complained about various thing, legit complaint, but anyway if X is making a complaint about Y if the discussion derail in talking about Z,CA and die some post later, once it get resurrected month later just for a post who is basically a +1, as moderator the first thing i do and all the other moderator of the forum do is close it, its just our job

STGs and FGs are fantasy for you ?

closing threads due necroposting annoys me.
is like throwing to the trash can something you can still use.

Not really. The information in older posts can be out of date, misleading, or simply wrong.

It’s better to start a new thread instead.

Gastanofrizzi has made our position clear, so I don’t need to add anything more to this conversation.

Well I wanted to discuss the current gold order tanks and how we can have rotation of 3 Pumas with correct squads and stuff and wanted to reply to my thread about gold order tanks but it’s closed just because.

Idk how duplicating the thread is better for anyone than continuing the discussion on that exact topic.

And that “current” list of the thread was from 2022 or so.

To be honest, first of all, the moderators themselves should sit and review each topic, checking whether the information in them is outdated or not and not only when someone pops it up again (as much as it is named now as the main reason for closing old threads). Especially in the suggestion topic, where every piece of information is useful, and new information can always be added.

Closing topics just because they are old is complete bs.

Expecting a moderator so “sit and review” each topic, potentially hundreds of posts, from months or even years ago, is simply unrealistic. We do (supposedly) have lives outside of the Enlisted forums.

I appreciate your opinion, but our policy remains the same.
