Don't close topics for "necroposting"

But instead of letting a person fix old information, it’s better to close everything right away without getting too deep. A button like “Edit” exists

And there’s also this button too:

At the end of the day, a thread that hasn’t been added to in over a month is considered old. Posting to that thread after a month is considered a necropost. Certain sections are immune to necroposting, as Gastanofrizzi said, these are the Modding and News sections.

For what?
Why should people reread and review topics from the past (for other people) instead of people just making a new thread?
Not efficient for mods.

Refer to them in your new suggestion. Dont forgot to refer in Havard or APA6/7 style. Issue solved.
But no need to necro.

I’m seriously not trying to argue but what’s wrong with that?

I do understand when the topic is completely outdated as in my example above like “how do I pay for testing Tunisia campaign”.

But some threads can be generic (e.g. “Faction X suffers”).

Why do we need 10 threads with “X suffers” rather than continue that same thread?

And maybe I’m old but one month seriously feels like nothing.
I often forget to reply to messages for a couple weeks lol

Some other forums have threads going back to mid 2000s and those sometimes go silent and sometimes get revived and conversations sparkle and idk that feels seamless and awesome, all in one place.

Well then, let’s look at it from the other side. Maybe the forum platform in general is old structure by itself, where players could offer their suggestions?

Maybe then the suggestion section itself should be divided into separate sub-topics and the whole structure of the forum should be structured even more. But is it worth doing so?

But now, there are moderators for that. I don’t know what the politics is that covers forum mods from above, but I myself have been a moderator on the H&G forum and on several RPG gaming forums and non-gaming forums like Wehrmacht.awards and so on. And that’s how I used to sit and organize posts that hadn’t been organized for a years, guiding people, because that’s your job in principle as a forum moderator. It is very easy to just browse the latest topics and just lock everything else without going too in it to deep.

I stick to my opinion that you, as a moderator, can ask the author of the topic to update the necrothread thread with the latest information. And don’t lock anything without digging into it.

Again, if this is the policy proposed by the Devs themselves, then this discussion is worthless and we can just get on with it. That’s it.

If topics were kept alive over the years, can y’all imagine how big the thread for belt fed German MGs would be by now?

Dunno made fair point imo.

Well I already forgot to reply earlier, doesnt necessarily mean its “dead” subject

Seems to be awfully lot of unnecessary work for everyone.
Close the topics and create new topic about same subject, just because it wasnt “popular” due to being made during 12pm or what ever reason.
