Auto rifles are in the rifle family but they were very uncommon. 99.999% of infantry used bolt or semi auto rifles. Auto rifles were more specialist weapons. I’ve been thinking maybe auto rifles could be moved to Assault. Maybe
This would really shake the entire meta of the game. Riflemen would still be the backbone of the army because they have the most soldiers while Auto rifles would be rare weapons used by smaller squads. Funny that it would make combat a bit more realistic
Just like SMG vs Assault Rifles the latter will almost always win, Select Fire rifles are way more powerful when compared to semi autos.
BR5 should be separated from BR4 and BR3 so we could finally have fun with those weapons and weaker smgs and hopefully crappy ARs like Mkb42 will go down in BR since they should go against ppsh-41 box (make it BR4) just like in OG Moscow campaign.
Giving them to assaulters or machinegunners just makes their main weapons redundant. Assault rifles (already make smgs sort of redundant) and machineguns
Short of making “another” class, radiomen keeps the spamability down, and maintains the viability/identity of other weapon types. It also spreads out the meta picked squads
These “selectfires” shouldnt be a thing in any real number. 2 werent used, 2 would break if used in full auto, and one was a rare paratrooper gun.
I really dont care what class it goes too, as long as it keeps the viability and identity of other classes relevant, and spamability down. Radioman achieved that, thats where the sense lies.
I would say make it a paratrooper only gun…but not everyone can get those and most cant choose weapons
that would be too limiting and op, what about guerillas, limit to five men but no specialists, also would make them more playable at higher level, might make them less hatted and more playable.
at/radio are to limited at most you get three, with at that is too op as by then they get rocket weapons, radio could work but people already hate radio and again going from 9 to three or even one is a bit much.
as of now a f2p could have 27 riflemen, a bit extreme but a f2p could have 9 radio men.
that aside let us say average is 15 riflemen and 5 radio men that a 70% reduction a bit much. it should be less common then a rifle or a smg but more common than a at weapon or machine gun, or at least as common as a mg. so lets say in three squads you should met 9, which sorry no one is going to have three radio squads (cant recal if a radio squad can have 2 0 3 radio men) either way if its two thats even worse.
I think this game should, as best as it can, be based on real life. (Yes yes its a game, but like I said as best as we can) In real life Radio operators would not be armed with the hyper specialist automatic rifles. They would usually be armed with the same standard issue rifle as the rest of the army.
Ironically this is sort of represented in game since any soldier can use automatic rifles, but if we were to go an extra layer 99.999% of soldiers would be armed with bolt/ semis. So that’s why automatic rifles may work best with Assaulters as they are the primary automatic weapon class
Not that it matters, we are just talking here, but IMO it shouldnt. Machines guns and AT weapons were pivotal and vastly used from start to finish in WW 2. Selectfires (or enlisteds variations of selectfires) werent (some not even in a functional state)
It makes sense yes, but as I said giving it to assaulters makes two other mass used weapons in WW 2 redundant in favour of something that wasnt used at all, or on scale.
Ofcourse I know this suggestion has little or no hope of happening…Im just dreaming…I just hate that this weapon class can be spammed primarily in a WW 2 setting.
Its a “Korean War” weapon type. When the Game expands to other Wars, there will be plently of time for this
Maybe you could nerf them by making them stripper clip reload
I understand the sentiment since most players chase the meta, but let’s look at it a little more in depth. Let’s say Assault were to have automatic rifles in addition to SMGs, AR, and shotguns (sometimes I forget about shotguns ). That gives them 3 different automatic playstyles.
Typically…smgs have higher rates of fire with less damage so they are great CQ. AR are truly the middle ground, slightly more damage and range. Automatic rifles have the highest damage and range but serious recoil.
I don’t think automatic rifles would make the other assault weapons redundant.
I hope this game doesn’t leave WW2 for a looooooooong time. There is still so much to add, that it is pointless to even state there is so much to add. If it were up to me I’d leave it WW2
I think these nerfs are a little too far but I always think recoil is the tried and true tweak. Plus if ARs would be moved to the Assault in the first place they’d be confined to a smaller squad, on top of Assault having 4 different weapon types to choose from
These nerfs would make them useless just make a Automatic riflemen class and allow only them to have SF rifles it would make everything balanced and ARs & SMGs would be valuable again
hehe yup, that was my bias (the recoil one wouldnt though, It just requires alot more fire discipline, or using them in semi auto…they are still great semi auto weapons)
yeah, that was the other option I mentioned…different class… In anycase IMO it cant go to riflemen, machine gunners or Assaulters
