Currently the weight mechanic is EXTREMELY broken. Simply switching to a knife or grenade lets you consume less stamina, and overall weight does not slow characters down. Flamethrowers and Machinegunners sprinting across areas at high speed and shooting on the move is unbelievably overpowered (especially with the fire bug that is known about but still has not been fixed).
SUGGESTION:
Total weight of equipment should effect movement speed. Including not just weapons, but backpacks, medkits, ammo, and grenades. Upon using them, your weight will decrease and allow you to move a little bit faster.
This keeps heavy major equipment (such as flamethrowers, MGs, AT weapons, etc.) from reaching the front line as quickly, helping to deal with a lot of the spam issues.
Carrying lighter equipment or less equipment would be a valid tactic as it would increase movement speed at the cost of firepower.
Some of the equipment that was phased out due to less firepower could become useful again as lighter weight equipment.
They run slow and move slow other than consume stamina more fast, probably OP forget that every normal player give them stamina and sprint perk for eliminate the movement debuff and that dev patched the counter strike knife run years ago
Walcome to another episode of please nerf whatever i dont like
A bit but always more slow than a guy with only a rifle in the weapon slot, slowing more them is unecessary there is no pro in do this outiside kill every heavy weapon class from play the objective on the frontline
We aren’t talking about a difference in speed such as hare and tortoise. Gunners just take a few seconds more to get there.
Which is also tactically coherent, because on paper they are supposed to be spitting out a bullet rain from side positions, while assaulters and riflemen storm the point.
Im not the one asking for additional nerf movement speed on heavy weapon class soldier who have “already movement debuff” and i say again perk in the end always negate every debuff you can give them
So…
You are only asking all people to go with the perk meta and transform every heavy weapon class soldier in Usain bolt…
If I get it correctly, OP is just suggesting a general rebalance of weight vs speed, system, from the current arbitrary class restrictions to an individual weight calculation for each soldier regardless of class.
Something if implemented make only people spam “meta movement perk” because all your soldier become “snail” this is something even mil-sim dont do in full because after there is no way to go back
Im not aganaist to switch to a “better” weight and stamina system but it need be “better” and no counterable with perk, how OP talk about it seems like he want only kill gunner and flamer because he found someone using the OP perk on them, withaut realizing he make only more people spam the “meta perk” with this
No.
The issue is that flamethrowers especially are getting cycled through at an absolutely absurd rate, sprinting across the already shortened distance thanks to rally points, keeping the entire objective constantly ablaze with absolutely no counter.
If they were slowed down, at least there would be a higher chance of even a small window of time that other players could participate without getting hit through walls, every crack and window, and everything within 35m of the flamethrower.
Not necessarily. as I stated in the original post, players could opt for lighter weight equipment and pick perks other than just movement. It would actually allow for more diversity than the current.
The whole point of the system that I suggested is to better balance utility vs firepower. If the heavier equipment caused you to move slower to begin with, then the speed perks would only bring them up to “normal” speed. Encouraging those that choose more firepower actually have to sacrifice something important.
