My personal preference is I really don’t care if I see these symbols because it’s a game. I just don’t like when people claim to only include one symbol over another because it’s not “as bad”. Personally, I would like all symbols to be accurately portrayed if the battalions/regiments are added to the game based on historical accuracy. But as I have stated before, it’s up to the devs to decide whether they want to add them or not.
Every nation in both wars committed horrible atrocities even the allies. They each had their respective symbols/icons when doing these. In the end, they are just symbols. It’s a matter of how you use them to be represented. You can still have them, and still, call out what they did. There’s no denying what happened.
You can call me a nazi or whatever the hell you want to make yourself feel better on the internet. I just personally, as someone who loves history and plays games based on it, would like to see and experience what those who fought have gone through. Historically and accurate representing all sides brings immersion to the game, which therefore makes the game have more attention to detail.
First of all, I don’t get why you keep spelling “Wehrmacht” “Whernmacht” - is there a historical reason to it?
No idea how you don’t see the Balkenkreuz, which is the official Insignia of the german military since 1918, nor the the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross Medal the Tier V Season Pass soldiers have potrayed next to their name. It even comes with the Black, White and Red Ribbon.
And, just by the way, the Balkenkreuz, is just a variation of the Iron Cross. But since you know history, I guess you knew that.
the iron cross have nothing to do with nazis at all.
but suppose your one of the muppets that think that the Knights cross is a nazi symbol because the nazis used.
then by that logic the Roman army were nazis since the nazis used the same standard as the Romeans did
Dude, I am german so don’t explain my own history to me. You were the one who said there is no Iron Cross in the game, not me. I just pointed out there is.
The Iron Cross is also not a roman symbol. It is a prussian symbol used during the coalition wars against Napoleon, when precious metals like gold were not available for medals so they had to be made of Iron instead.
The Iron Cross is rooted in the “Black Cross” which was the insignia of the Teuto Ordo, or Deutschritterorden. Which has nothing to do with the roman army or empire, unless you’re referring to the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. Which was not roman. The “Roman” refers to the Vatican and the Holy Roman Church. Not the city.
The only insignia germany inherited from the ancient rome as it’s spiritual successor was the eagle, which again, is still used today and not seen as a Nazi symbol. It is still on our flags, every governmental letter and logo.
No, the reason one is being censored more then the other isn’t because of the devs personal preference or stance on censorship, it is because laws in a number of counties do not allow them to be displayed. To demand equal treatment of all horrible and oppressive regimes that kills millions is to demand for more censorship. The many countries that ban these symbols are not going to budge for some kid in the internet said it was hypocritical so the only fairness The devs can intact is more censorship.
If anything your whataboutism shows your own hypocrisy, not once have you talked about soviet symbols missing from uniforms or the lack of African American troops on the beaches of Normandy. You clam we need swastikas for the sake of history but hardly ever do you go beyond Germany, and definitely not with the same amount of fervor.
That reads more like a retorical question than him asking for straight up censorship of the soviets, and in this case what about isn’t a bad argument to come from because why have one but not the other in a ww2 setting. Censoring of anykind is bad period.
It is a bad argument. Laws prohibit one but not the other. End of story. The developers will not voluntarily shoot themselves in the foot and get their game banned in multiple countries.
The nazis didnt really have their own symbols, they mostly just stole them from various places, I can’t think of one symbol they had that was unique to them. (please correct me if I’m wrong I like to know parts of history I dont know)
