Whether it is better or worse, it does not take away the fact that it offers the German SMG playstyle for the Soviets.

Never played it to know what it is like. Drum+Alpha recoil is all I need.
Suomi had mongo spastic recoil in BFV. If the Alpha recoil is still controllable, by all means.

Alpha recoil is controllable to an extent. The range is limited to short for the most part. But it’s excellent for capping and defending zones. Although I would like the recoil a bit reduced when in crouch and prone.

Your asymmetrical gameplay is limited to things in your favour. And you still haven’t answered why you don’t consider PPK a mirror of the German MPs. Just because they don’t perform as well as MP-41 does not make it any less than a MP.
The only problem back then was German SMGs too had a comparable RoF and also high damage. Both of which don’t exist anymore. So, why has PPDs been getting buffed(I don’t have a problem with this) but also the MPs getting nerfed after every update!?

Adding the Suomi SMG with the drum magazine is a great solution, which I wholeheartedly support. You control recoil by firing short, controlled bursts.

But PPK was not made to copy German SMG’s like PPD was made to copy the Suomi
PPK was a cheap, simple, classic SMG
PPK has worse RoF than the MP-40 so it’s not a direct reskin
But the 2 most important things are:

PPK is worse than the PPD so it doesn’t have a huge impact on gameplay

PPK will be forgotten after the OBT release. This gun was probably the only slow firing SMG Soviet union had and we won’t see similar things in the OBT

Adding the Suomi SMG does not mirror the sides completely, as it is but a single minor change in and of itself. You will observe that several other aspects of the game would remain asymmetrical, for example in terms of vehicles.
And the Suomi that I suggested is not better than MP-40 or the PPD Drum. Everything else you pointed applies the same to the Suomi. It will replace the MP-41, so that is out too.

Maybe it was me because I used to have a different approach to this game 4 months ago
I don’t mind.
But replacing the MP-41 is ideal because I don’t see any more ways to nerf it so that it stands out as a premium weapon while having minimum impact on the F2P players. Soviet mains will complain even if it was just a MP-40 re-skin. That is just how fixated they are on the idea of making the MP-41 irrelevant in the game.
because CBT is almost over, replacing the MP-41 is impossible
Maybe add Suomi as a reward for closed alpha testing?
That way you can get your Suomi but not ruin the game asymmetry
