The idea before was that more radiomen meant redundancy when one dies.
Then the good idea fairy came along and decided to change everything.

True, but hey, there are already squads nobody really uses after maxing their upgrades. Like, do you use your starting infantry squad? I gotta check in on mine, because thereâs a real possibility they f**ked off back home seeing as they are not getting any action
Maybe this nerf is more realistic, letâs try and see. I guess one artillery strike is fired by several guns (one battery = 6-8 guns), judging how shells are falling one after another. If 4-5 strikes getâs called at same that means there are multiple artillery batteries involved in indirect fire support, that could mean there are 30+ arty guns supporting a team of players. Thatâs pretty much firepower for relatively small sector like Enlisted maps. Thatâs BS to be honest. Correct me if iâm wrong, but that many guns used per square metter was probably only by Soviets in Berlin/late war battles, in Moscow and Normandy campaign this doesnât seem realistic.
Oh wow, gj devs! i cant wait to never see arty spam again.
Not right now, but I considered putting it into my setup after finishing most of the grind - with only 3 slots I used my most powerful radio squad, and two squads that Iâm trying to upgrade right now (Engineers II and Snipers II).
Maybe I will replace radio squad with standard infantry. 9 high level soldiers could be a solid choice afterall.
But itâs kinda sad that things go that way. With the start of OBT it seemed that they want to give each squad something unique to bring more diversity - different squad sizes, unique abilities like arty cooldown or engineer buildings etc. Something that could make them worth playing. But it seems that they changed their mind.
I had the same thoughts as you when they removed mortal refills completely due to a bug. Now they corrected it and mortar squad is not completely useless, itâs more balanced. At first those nerfs seems to be much overboard, but weâll be able to judge completely after playing a while. +
Maybe one strike at the time is okay and more realistic, maybe they shouldâve done some sort of middle road, like allowing two strikes at the time but constant artillery spam definitelly wasnât realistic and too OP. I also donât want this game to be plain small-arms shooter, with all explosions, mortars ,plane bombs completely nerfed because all these tools weâre used in WW2 and they give Enlisted battles much bigger scale and liveliness than many other WW2 games can offer.
That will maybe change in the future - maybe they will give radio-op squad some other ability, or even a multitude of abilities (much like engineers). But you gotta aggree - the arty spam really was an issue, something had to be done. Whether or not this current nerf was a good solution to this problem - that remains to be seen.
That would be perfect. I would take massive smoke screens and some rocket barrages (Nebelwerfers, Katyushas etc.) every time over simply spamming the same artillery.
But overall those are my thoughts for now. You and @116047982 are right, we will see how it will play out in the long run.
Do you not last more than a minute with most of your squads? There are plenty of times Iâve been able to call in multiple arty strikes from the one squad, something you cant do with another squad.
the artillery noobs crying is so delicious
âI canât click on the objective and get 20 kills anymore the game is ruined!â
Between that and the FG nerf itâs the best update since CBT
artillery the tool for those campers, become useless ok time to play planes until to they nerfed to 0 and camping become the tier and game become another generic shooter
Same. Really awesome update, the tears sprinkled on make me coom.
I used the FG42 on semi-auto anyway so the udpate really doesnât bother me lmao.
Soviets in the early stages of the war werenât properly mobilized & didnât have their logistics properly set-up. This wasnât the case during the Battle of Moscow, the Battle of Berlin and with both sides during the Battles in Normandy. Each side literally had millions of artillery shells at their disposition, ârunning out of ammunitionâ wasnât a problem at all during the war. So putting an ammo limit to artillery strikes in game is just wrong.
Now about things such as âsections of the railroad were destroyed so ammunition couldnât be deliveredâ & so forth, for an invasion/battle the shells would already have been in place so that wasnât a problem (imagine that on, say, D-Day - didnât happen). They would be able to constantly shell enemy positions - they would stop during an attack by their own troops or if the artillery positions were supressed by enemy artillery or bombers - but otherwise, artillery would fire constantly and that is why it was the main source of casualties during world war 2.
Curbing artillery in the game from how it currently is (which is less effective than tanks and bomber planes) would be unrealistic.
As for friendly-fire, that happens. No significant amounts of artillery operators were âcourt-martialedâ for that during the war. Also, shelling your own teamâs positions in game is useful to get cowards who donât move to go to point.
the only ones crying are the noobs who are dumb enough to get mass-killed by arty
this is absolute shit, artillery should be called ESPECIALLY during the first minutes of the battle
Iâm sorry you lost your main means of getting kills. please relax and remember itâs just a game and if you get skilled enough you wont have to rely on hitting 7 then clicking.
i really do love getting my entire squad blown up by some camper sitting in spawn oh golly gee
balance >>>>>>>>>>>>>> historical accuracy
I didnât lose a âmain means of getting killsâ as planes and tanks are stronger and I nearly always get more kills/experience by playing with regular squads, unlike you, who can only play as a clown in the online forums. What was lost was the ability to play the game in a very fun way as a radio operator, and the historical accuracy, when artillery - which was the main source of infantry casualties in world war 2 - is made weaker and weaker.
thereâs nothing realistic about hitting 7 then clicking on a map thatâs populated with data faster than the blue force tracker we use today.
